According to breaking news reports from the Daily Record online Rangers poised to sign former everton and England centre half ben godfrey on a season long loan deal from atlanta ?

27 Jun 2026 16:56:07
Daily Record SWS? Do people actually still buy that rag?

27 Jun 2026 16:58:55
I sincerely hope not - he was woeful at Sheffield United and Ipswich Town.

27 Jun 2026 16:59:50
Can also play at right back, he's injury free, be a very good signing for us, loan deal is perfect.

27 Jun 2026 17:04:38
Tkf and class at Norwich.

27 Jun 2026 17:06:11
Loan with club option and pre agreed fee for me. Keep the ball in our court.

He's a very good centre back.

27 Jun 2026 17:37:26
He was posting some dark things regarding himself on Twitter not so long ago (nothing to be ashamed of, most of us have gone through it). I just don't think we are the club to help the guy out, as we all know how toxic we can be, i.e. Skov Olsen.

27 Jun 2026 17:43:31
Online whatsmyname, read my post, my friend. ?

27 Jun 2026 17:20:35
Nope. Injury prone and over rated English player. Have we not learned from our previous mistakes?

27 Jun 2026 17:47:47
Ben Godfrey on ability is a very good centre half, and is an even better centre half than Connor Goldson, who was terrific for us in the majority of his 6 years with us after Gerrard signed him from Brighton in 2018.

? I rated big Goldson as the best all round centre half we've had at Rangers since 2018, but Godfrey is even better, so if he's got no injury issues, a season long loan deal will be a very good piece of business for us imo. ? ??

27 Jun 2026 17:52:43
That's just it, Star, how many have been "class" down there and failed up here, buddy?

27 Jun 2026 18:22:24
SWS, I don't know what Ben Godfrey you're watching, mate. He was shipped out on loan after 6 months at Atalanta. That's how well he did there. Hardly kicked a ball for ITFC, got sent back, sent back to Shef United, who terminated his loan after 4 months.

He's hardly kicked a ball in years. He did reasonably well at Norwich 10 years ago! By all accounts a good first season at Everton 5/6 years ago, and since then nowhere! Not for me based on the above.

27 Jun 2026 18:23:36
Sorry Sir Walter, buddy. Last time I bought the Record, Shuggie and Duggie were in nappies.

27 Jun 2026 18:26:39
Sounds like a Ben Davies mark 2 tbh. ?

27 Jun 2026 18:28:08
Sky Sports now reporting this too.

27 Jun 2026 18:41:27
We are doing it again, aren't we?

27 Jun 2026 18:45:50
What type of "dark things" did he write on Twitter? Is he depressed or something?

27 Jun 2026 18:46:31
I get the point of some people saying he's not had the best of times, as much as we've seen players come to Scotland and fail, we've seen plenty come and succeed. Just the chance that gets took with footballers, we've had lots of players come to Rangers who we thought would fail but proved us wrong on a loan deal. Risk worth taking, I think.

27 Jun 2026 18:48:05
Seems like it, Big D. ?

27 Jun 2026 18:50:24
Coops, spot on, mate.

27 Jun 2026 19:00:42
Was a good player many moons ago, but hasn't done anything in years, and sorry but we took that gamble with Olsen hoping he could revive his career and he didn't, same with Aarons.

We need to stop with this nonsense, and as this isn't the place for that, we need players capable of playing at the standard required from the get go and not trying to find themselves!

27 Jun 2026 19:05:41
Iron, I'll tell what I've seen regarding Ben Godfrey, my friend. ? I haven't seen what he's been doing in Italy, mate, but because he's failed there doesn't mean he's a bad player, because he definitely isn't a bad player to what I've seen of him at Norwich and Everton. He's a talented centre half who's lost his way about, possibly, but he hasn't lost his talent.

Absolutely no doubt he's still a talented centre half. ? Better players than Godfrey have failed miserably to make it in Italian football, mate. ?
If he comes injury free to us and gets his mojo back, he'll be a terrific signing for us, and still only 28 years old. So that's what I've seen of Ben Godfrey, Iron. That's what I've watched. ? Hope that answers your question. ?

27 Jun 2026 19:17:40
Rhol with cheese around Christmas time he was writing concerning messages on X. He's meant to have been really struggling.

27 Jun 2026 19:18:45
You're basing Godfrey on what you saw a decade ago and ruling out his latest form when he's actually got a game? If he gets his mojo back that he's not got back for how long and a poor injury record? Seriously? I cannot understand this thinking. How many times. ??‍♂️

27 Jun 2026 19:35:08
The old line "just lost his way".
Lost interest, motivation, ability, legs.
Who knows?
There is a long list of these types.
Carlos Pena had lost his way.
Harry Forrester, same.
Aarons.
Olsen.

Ramsey.
Think guys like Delle Alli as well.
How many get their mojo back?
I really don't know anything about the guy, but the lost his way line just means 1 thing to me.
They are no longer good enough to cut it.

27 Jun 2026 19:43:01
Had a couple of good seasons at Everton, but that was a good few seasons ago now, then, after injury, struggled to get back in the team, don't think he's done much since, only played a handful of games in Italy last season, not played much over the last few seasons, not sure if it was because of injury, good player for us when on it, but it is a bit risky.

27 Jun 2026 20:02:57
This is another stupid signing, and we will never learn. Sounds like Aaron's signing last season. Injury prone, head not right, oh what a great idea, let's sign him. ?‍♂️

27 Jun 2026 21:13:36
If we sign Ben Godfrey, obviously Derek McInnes doesn't think it's a stupid signing. ? McInnes is Rangers manager, and if he thinks Godfrey can be a good signing for Rangers then I totally back him and Godfrey. ? ??
