I liked Rohl. Nice guy I think. Job wasn't too big for him but his heart wasn't in it. We didn't chase him away. He wanted out and when that is known. Get rid. AC and the board would have known this for sometime and made contingency plans.
It's all good. Compensation of 2m will be welcome.
Many say McKinnes hasn't won anything. I think with his teams and budgets he's done remarkably well. He's the right manager for now.
It was mentioned on here that a CH had been signed and two OOC but no names. I hope they didn't come for Rohl. I'm excited the way things are shaping up Bears.

Have to agree, WG, regarding people saying "What's he won?" Not really a fair question given that very few teams other than Celtic have won much in the last 10 plus years.
McInnes has always done better than expected with what's been available at each club in the Scottish Premiership, so let's all just get behind him and see where we are in 6 months.
Personally, I think it will be top of the league.

McInnes had plenty of good players to have won more trophies at Aberdeen, so, to me, this look at the teams he managed don't sit.

I think this bickering about DM has to stop. My own opinion is that certain intruders are orchestrating all this, and it is making a total a--e of the Club.

I do think myself that Derek McInnes is exactly the type of manager/head coach we need right now at Rangers, and I think he'll be a good appointment. ? Although every appointment is a gamble just like signing players is also, I do think McInnes will be a successful Rangers manager/head coach.
??? I have a good feeling about this and we'll have stability because he won't want to look to go anywhere else. ???

Let's be honest here, if we were to appoint a successful manager who knows the Scottish game, it's Rogers or Big Ange or possibly Neil Lennon. Anyone up for one of those three?
16 Jun 2026 13:47:07
"What's he won?" Absolutely a fair question. It was his job, as it was every other manager's job, in league or cup games, to go out and beat Celtic, so to ask what he has won whilst a manager at Aberdeen, Killie or Hearts is fair.
When we linked with any player, there is always one that comes on and says he only scores X goals a season, not for me, only makes X assists a season, not for me.
Why should it be any different for bringing someone's managerial wins into the equation? Plenty go on and on about SG only winning 1 in 9 on this site, so McInnes winning 1 in god knows how many is a fair statement to make.
16 Jun 2026 14:02:01
Weeker, finished second in the league five times, 4 cup finals, without the quality he'll have at Rangers.
Also, not a manager in our country gets his squad from last season minutes away from winning the league.
16 Jun 2026 14:22:01
I think McInnes is perfect for our club's foundations to finally go on to build better things.
16 Jun 2026 14:31:21
McInnes has won exactly what Alex McLeish had won before he came to Rangers.
McLeish then went on to win 7 trophies in 3.5yrs including a treble. All were won whilst O'Neill was Celtic manager as well, btw.
16 Jun 2026 14:31:44
And this is it, typically. I asked the question what has he done, simply because that's the same question most folk judge other managers on. I don't know if he will do well or not. He hasn't won anything in Scotland, got Kilmarnock humiliated in European competition by a pub team from Wales.
If that was Rangers, then he would be out the door before he even got back home.
I hope he does well as we are needing stability more than anything else. Soon our turnover of managers will outstrip our titles.
16 Jun 2026 15:06:57
Gees, didn't he win the League Cup with Aberdeen? Rangers have won three trophies in that time.
16 Jun 2026 15:07:07
SounessesMowzer, I said as much to 2 of my mates last night. ? I stated the Derek McInnes appointment as our new manager/head coach reminds a lot of when we appointed Alex McLeish as our new Rangers manager a way back in December 2001. ? Both had a very good knowledge of the Scottish league, having both done well at managing other Scottish clubs, i.e. McLeish at Motherwell and Hibs, and McInnes at St. Johnstone, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Hearts.
? Both were deemed by some of our supporters, when appointed, that they weren't a big enough name and not good enough. ? Both also massive boyhood Rangers supporters. ? A lot of similarities, and look how very successful Alex McLeish was. ? If Derek McInnes is anywhere near as successful as Rangers manager as Big Eck was, then we'll all be very happy and back winning the league and being the best team in Scotland once again. ? ? ??

Adj, you expect him to win more with an Aberdeen side with a fraction of the budget Celtic had. Rangers have only won 3 trophies since coming back up in 2016. Why would the Aberdeen and Killie manager be expected to win more than we have?
Fact of the matter is, he got Aberdeen to 4 cup finals and won 1. To me, that's a decent record considering Celtic were blowing everyone away at this point.
He also came within 3 mins of winning Hearts the league, when he absolutely should have been nowhere near it. He took Killie to Europe and he got St Johnston promoted.
He's a good manager who's earned his shot at Rangers. How many on here would have turned their noses up at Walter after Souness? Or Big Eck?
16 Jun 2026 16:03:31
Yes, he may have gotten 2nd in League, lost a few finals or whatnot, but the problem is, as Rangers fans, we all want the 1st place. We all want the trophy wins, or would you be delighted to have an occasional cup final and 2nd place finish?
Everyone championing McInnes as the saviour, like he will suddenly come in and turn our team around, just look at the managers who have failed to do that.
At least 2 who have been sacked were of a far superior quality to McInnes, with one being an ex "Rangers Man," which so many harp on about too, so just because he has played for Rangers and gotten Aberdeen a trophy and second place does not automatically mean he will suddenly take us back to our best.
16 Jun 2026 16:44:16
SWS, I would go as far to say that he's even more qualified than Eck was. He's got a lot more managerial experience under his belt.
Weeker, far superior quality? That's your opinion, which you're absolutely entitled to. If I'm not mistaken, though, our only manager in recent times who's been able to consistently get the better of McInnes and his teams was Gerrard.
And he stumbled his way through it to begin with. Just a thought.
In my opinion, McInnes was the man for the job last summer. He's the man for the job this summer as well.
16 Jun 2026 16:45:00
I would be expecting him with probably the best squad Aberdeen had in many a year, full of Scottish Internationals (Kenny McLean, Ryan Christie, Scott Brown etc) to come closer to Celtic than the 16, 17 and 30 points he managed. I would argue the squad was better than any we have had for the same time. We have finished 2nd in 6 of the last 8 and won one of them.
We have given a good few decent managers grief for that, so hopefully for us all DM settles and is successful. Despite my reservations, I want nothing more than for him to be a success. Just that the messiah-style rhetoric needs to be calmed occasionally to give him a chance. ? I wait and hope he comes and is a success if that is what the club want.
16 Jun 2026 17:22:17
McInnis wouldn't have been my choice, but I will obviously back him. It will be interesting to see what calibre of player he signs.
16 Jun 2026 17:55:52
Shout louder Angus
16 Jun 2026 18:21:24
Fork, I know ? and I actually don't have a problem with McInnes. Just the same post about the quality he has had at previous teams. And that was without including Stuart Findlay at Killie. ?
