Does anyone else share the opinion that as a team/squad we weren't fit /sharp enough throughout the season? And if so do fellow posters think this will be addressed?

Yes & yes. ?

It's more that they were conditioned to play a set style of football, and then that was changed midway through the season to a completely different style.

It takes weeks of conditioning to train the body a different way, which is nigh on impossible to do any other time than preseason.

I very much imagine this will be greatly different after the summer.

Bunster, absolutely, for me it will be addressed in Danny Rohl's first pre season preparation as Rangers head coach. ? ?? As you know, at any football club you do your prep work on your squad of players in pre season, which puts the correct fitness levels into their bodies for the full season ahead, and it was Russell Martin's pre season work that unfortunately Rohl was left with picking up the baton as our manager/head coach in October last year, which quite obviously wasn't Rohl's fault.

? I think our players will be much, much better prepared and fitter for this new season approaching us. ? ??

I think so, as I've said this before, and I'm sure EHL said similar.

My opinion is that the squad was given a preseason to play a positional possession heavy style which would require more concentration than physical levels.

Danny Rohl is much higher intensity of play and positional fluidity, which will require higher levels of physical fitness, so I expect that to be addressed during preseason.

Get that squad back to Gullane! Could you imagine the tears and squealing there would be if that was the training regime this summer?

Pre-season for me is really about the building blocks. Fitness first. Shouldn't be looking at tactics. Then create match fitness or match sharpness, through friendlies and dodgy European results. Think some coaches see technique and formation above physical and that's what happened to this squad.

Too much of one thing and not enough of another.

However, I would say if dr indicates leaders required, then the physical maybe was not the issue, it was cognitive. ehl did mention burn out. ?

I'm sure pre season will be what Danny Rohl needs it to be, pretty gruelling. On last season, I personally think going away before the split was a mistake. We, as a club, never seem to kick on after these warm weather sessions; in fact, we go the opposite way in most cases.

Not sure if going from wet n windy Scotland to glorious sunshine kind of subconsciously puts our players in holiday mode and they take the eye of the prize.

Get the squad sent to Sennybridge Training Camp in the Brecon Beacons. I know a few blokes would only be too obliging to get them fit for the new season. ? IYKYK.
"Always a Little Further". ??

I gt it, I really do. But can't help feeling like it's just excuse after excuse with Rangers over last few years.

Has been the case over the last 3 or 4 years. We haven't had a team that could play an hour, far less 90 minutes, & I'm sure that's also where a lot of the ongoing niggling injuries come from.
