So what if we still had chance to win the league before the Hibs game would the same have happend with tav?

I know we were out of the title race but the game is still one Danny wanted to win. The fanbase were angry and had started to turn against the manager. Danny couldn't afford to lose all the games after the split because it might have cost him his job. So it's not like he left Tavernier out from the start because he viewed that particular game as a dead rubber.

So the team selection would have been the same either way, which means this event would still have happened.

I can understand Danny's position. I can also understand why Tavernier would want to lead the team out for his final home game after 10 years at the club. It was just a really unfortunate event.

It was a bit of both at fault here tbh. ? It could/should have been handled much better. ?

He picked the team to try and win. That was more important and should always be what matters.

When asked to put on the shirt, you put it on. It doesn't matter in what capacity; he disrespected the many fans that have supported him over the years. No player is bigger than the club. He only has himself to blame. The team and the result come first.

I agree, I like Tav as well, and when I first heard the news I was outraged at the way he was treated, but thought there must be more to it than that. It's never black and white at Rangers, is it.

I am sure Tav will regret his decisions down the line. He easily could have still achieved what he wanted without all the fuss.

I think the manager needs to be in charge and make all the decisions, so when he wasn't picked, I never even thought about it. Real games aren't for saying goodbyes; it takes your mind off it. After the last home game, go and do a lap of honour if you want, but the game (and club) are more important.

I like Tav and think he will look back and think he let his emotions get the better of him. I can understand that, and will never criticise anyone for being human. However, all gone now and we need to look forward.

Good Morning Folks,

Firstly, I hope you are all well. This season promised so much after Martin was sacked, and Danny came in and steadied the ship prior to the collapse in the final games which cost us the league.

My own opinion was that Tavernier should have been dropped a while before he was. I felt Danny was too loyal for too long, and, sadly, at the end it was a bit toxic, imo, mostly because of Tav's attitude, no support for his team mates against Hibs and Falkirk. That says more about him than Danny, tbh.

Our defensive coaches have been found wanting, imo. The defending was amateurish at times, and the number of sloppy attempts at playing out from the back cost us over the season.

Our decision makers as regards Transfers in have been below par also, and this is an area we really need to improve on, over hyped players being given lengthy contracts with extortionate wages must cease forthwith. I remember a poster on here saying that a win bonus structure of payment should maybe be looked at, as far too many downed tools while still guaranteed their large wages,

In conclusion, I wish Danny and the Board well for next season. Danny's 1st with hopefully his own players, and see where it takes us.

Here's the thing, if the rumours are to be believed, Tav was told not to announce he was leaving, may be way off here, but would that possibly have unsettled a fractious squad even more, leading to a bit of apathy in their efforts.
As I said, may be way off, but both sides shot themselves in the foot.

I like Danny. However, he's paid to manage. I think he could have handled the Tavernier situation better. After serving Rangers, hardly ever injured, I think it was appropriate to lead the team out in front of his family. That's Rangers' way.

Respect for a good servant. He could quite easily have been subbed after 20 minutes, with him aware that that was the case. Everybody happy.
It appears Tavernier had upset some prior to that game, and revenge was served cold. Not a good look. Onwards.

Yes Tav, 100% jumped the gun.

Almost unanimously, Igamane was slated last year for refusing to come off the bench, as I recall. Now we have some of the same people saying Tav was harshly dealt with for refusing to even be on the bench. Frankly, he should be fined for this refusal, but I guess that won't happen.

Even if he'd got 30 seconds at the end of the game, he would have got the reception he craves upon entering the pitch. I have little sympathy for him for his refusal to play as selected.

Just one point, Danny Rohl is not paid to manage. His role is Head Coach, so he is paid to coach!

Waltersguitar, the Rangers way is winning, something more important than Tav's feelings.
