I'm going to put my opinion in on Tav scandal. Tav was supposobly told he would be leading out the team v hibs. Had arranged for his family to be present, his kids as mascots then his son to then go onto be a ball boy. His son missed a kids European trip with Rangers young team to be their. Danny Rohl then changed this on Tuesday night. I get this ain't the Tav show but to be told that and arrangements made then Rohl to change it last min is shocking in my opinion.
It's a nothing match and give the guy credit for sticking buy us for all these years. I personally think Rohl is bang out of order after telling him, then to not even play him. Everything he's done over the years and this is how we repay him. Absoloutly shocking in my opinion. I get if we're going for the title but we're not. Tavs statement should maybe have come out after Falkirk game but personally if I was Tav I'd make myself unavailable for Falkirk and refuse to travel.

Davie, that is word for word Tav's statement. Now go and read what Danny Rohl said today in his statement, and come back and see if you still agree, as he told him nothing of the sort. Nobody should dictate if they start a game, especially someone that is injured.
Walter Smith quoted, "Don't enter unless you put yourself 2nd," so imagine if he had demanded to start if Walter or Souness were in charge.

Davie, I believe Tavernier is the problem. Why couldn't he have led the team out before taking a seat on the bench? Because it's all about James Tavernier. So glad he'll never kick another ball for Rangers, a player with a massive ego is what's it looking like for me.

According to Danny, he never once told him he would start. I think Tav really thought he would have, then threw a hissy when he didn't, making it about him, not the 3 points.

There's always two sides to a story, but I'm just gutted as it's something else that doesn't make our club look good.
15 May 2026 17:16:03
There's 3 sides to this story. Rohl's, Tavs and the truth.
In my opinion, everyone is at fault in some capacity.
Rohl has shown his inexperience in not just starting Tav in a game that means nothing after playing him in the prior games that meant everything.
Tav shouldn't have spat the dummy and went in the huff, putting himself first over the club.
And the club should have a culture instilled that wouldn't have let this whole situation become what it has.
Which goes to the roots of the problem.
The club needs a leader in charge and players that will die for each other and that leader. Not pre Madonna's that think they're better than what they are and a project manager who is learning his way as the head of a massive team.
15 May 2026 17:29:05
He never changed on Tuesday night, though, so that's a lie, as Tav said he spoke to him the day before and learned he wouldn't start. ? Nothing game no matter, Tav is injured and was honking in another Old Firm game and didn't deserve to start.
15 May 2026 17:31:41
So if Tav got a knock in the game against Hearts, why and how did he start against Celtic? I am confused. So he was injured playing against Celtic?
15 May 2026 17:42:35
Blue89, see, I would agree with that if I didn't watch Vincent Kompany get the Bayern job and see their players work their backsides off for him. You could say his status as a player helps, and that Bayern have a higher level of professional, but the idea remains the same.
15 May 2026 17:52:52
Davie, Tav stuck by us all these years. Don't remember a lot of offers for him.
Where else was he getting 30k a week.
15 May 2026 18:27:06
Correct, Jasp.
15 May 2026 18:43:05
Just a note on said knock. Tav said he took a knock and required an injection which would have put him out of the game. He postponed the injection so he could play. I'm not reading that he was injured enough not to start. Many players play with knocks, in fact most do. Many also postpone operations till the summer, let alone injections, so they can play. So that's not a mitigating argument. Tav should have led the team out. Walter would have ensured Tav led the team out.
I get you put yourself second, but Rangers is not just a business, it's more than sport, it's more than winning. Rangers is a family, an institution, history, loss, victory, players come and go but we recognise service like we do on Armed Forces Day, charity days, we put statues up, name stands etc etc etc. We do it right. Tav deserved a bit of a fanfare. We do it right all the time, every time or not at all.

Tjbb. 100% bud. People stating Tav's lying or he wasn't told on Tuesday, may I remind said poster stating it's incorrect. When was our game? Wednesday. So, going by reports from both Tav and Rohl, there's a liar in the camp, so here's a couple of facts. Tav's son did indeed miss a European trip to watch his dad.
Kids were put forward as mascots and later ball boys, and Tav was indeed told he would lead the team out, to go ahead and make arrangements, so an investigation is needed, and if Rohl is clearly lying he should be sacked. Simple as that. No place for that at Rangers.
15 May 2026 20:04:35
We stuck by Tav, Davie, you got that back to front man. ?
15 May 2026 20:24:57
TJ, Walter wouldn't have had to deal with Tav's situation because he would have punted him long ago.
15 May 2026 20:44:15
That may be the case, Bear, but we are dealing with what actually happened, not what could have happened. I could also say Walter would have trained Tav into a better defender, and he would not be getting as much stick. Either way, Walter Smith would not have allowed any of this to happen.
15 May 2026 21:00:59
None of the armed forces play, so don't know what that's got to do with it. But, like them, Rohl said he could have had all that prematch stuff he wanted, and then play either from the start or from the bench. Rohl said he made the decision on the Wednesday, like any other game.
15 May 2026 21:08:54
Agreed, TJ, Walter a tremendous man manager, and sadly missed. Think players need to have a bit more respect for whoever is the boss.
15 May 2026 21:22:51
Kieser, my point was we recginsie service. Eg our forces or anyone who dedicates themselves to soething eg Rangers or anything worthy of recogintion. Problem is, these days folks do know what service or sacrifice means, some of society wants it all for nout.
15 May 2026 21:26:41
It's all becoming a bit he said he said. Tav saying he was told he'd play, only for Rohl to say that wasn't the case.
It's clear someone isn't being honest, but who?
I can't be bothered with the drama. I wish they'd start behaving like mature men. There's bigger things at stake than their pride.
