Been thinking about this for a while, if Barry Ferguson had been given the job at the start of the season instead of that waste of space vegan, what kind of position do you think we would be in right now?

13 May 2026 10:00:46
3rd at best.

Champions. If everything else happened with Celtic etc, like Nancy, then I think Barry would have won the league.

A thing nobody can truly answer, DTB, but personally thinking it wouldn't have been 3rd, mate.
Shankland would be wearing a Rangers jersey as well; could that affect Hearts? Again, nobody truly knows.

We were told Rangers would have been a certainty to win the league with Shankland.
So surely the same applies to Hearts with the position they are in?
Though right now, I'm not so sure anybody with a football brain will be betting against Celtic right now.
On Ferguson, I'm sure he played 12, W4, L4, D4, F16, A16.

And after continually slating the players and formation under Clement, he came in and played the same players and formation.
Let's not equate Ferguson, the player, with Ferguson, the manager.
As both are at opposite ends of the scale.

Maybe, if Clement hadn't been sacked, we would have won the Europa League and entered the Champions League. He could have been properly backed to make a real fist of it this season when the cavalry finally arrived. A lot of permutations and what could have been scenarios, but we are where we are, unfortunately.

DTB, I think if Barry Ferguson, Neil McCann and Billy Dodds had remained as Rangers management team for this season, and taking everything into account with Celtic, etc, and of course the players Baz had lined up to sign, we would have been champions this season for me. ???

Where is all this confidence in Barry F coming from? Because he pumps his chest every time we put in a hard tackle or score a goal.

What if we gave GVB or Clement time and money? Indeed if we had kept last season's team we would likely have won the league. All this if and buts does nothing to move us forward.

13 May 2026 11:44:59
GVB and Clement far better than Barry, both these guys got a raw deal.

13 May 2026 11:59:08
Would have Barry every day compared to Russell Martin!! What a cock up by Cavanagh.

13 May 2026 12:10:52
With the players Fergie wanted to bring in, at a low budget before others added, we would have been 15 points better off at least.

Apart from Russell Martin, I would say most of the blame for this season's failure goes to the frauds wearing the strip, exceptions being Barron Rommens, Moore, Curtis, possibly Raskin and Sterling and Butland, but there is a big need for improvement in the overall performance of the latter 3.

Phillipe Clement would have been my choice to continue in his role with better support from the Board. As regards new faces coming in, I said in another forum, my opinion only, folks.

We need to sell the underperformers and bring in as much money as possible before we get the new faces on board. The wages for the loanees will also release additional investment revenue, the one exception being Mikey Moore whom I would love to stay for another season if possible. I won't mention which players I would like to see brought in, as tbh I am not totally in touch with the current market place. This is just a wee note as to how I would like to see us progress towards next season.

Ferguson failed the audition last season. His record when he took over was not great apart from two games. His treatment of some of the players also could be questioned, and I believe he was the reason Igamane wanted to leave even before the imposter took over.

Ferguson being judged on someone else's players, but I think he would have done well.
