What's everyone's thoughts on Skov Olsen and the apparent news that his head is down and low in confidence. Personally I feel that at a club like ours we need players with a winning mentality. Over the last few years we have had too many players that have had many excuses made for them and that need "an arm around them".

I think this has been a big part of the reason why we have failed over the last few seasons. The next 5 games are huge in our bid to win the title. Can we afford to gamble on a player who doesn't have the required mentality? I think not. Personally I would keep Skov Olsen as far away from the team as possible. These are 5 cup finals. No room for passengers. We need winners on the park.

If we could get him on loan for another season, I think get more out of him.

19 Apr 2026 11:20:32
He does have a goal and 3 assists in 8 games and has shown moments of his class and composure, but is clearly lacking confidence. If we had him on loan from start of season, he may have come good by now, but half a season in a team where every game is vital is a tough ask for him, especially with the potential price tag associated with him.

I doubt he will start many games, but let's try getting behind him. Jeers when he plays bad aren't going to help.

19 Apr 2026 11:21:26
Back to Germany after Falkirk game and call it a day at that. Had really high hopes for him, but he's been dreadful.

19 Apr 2026 11:21:48
It's clear he's not the player he once was - physically, emotionally, mentally. I hope he can find a way back, but we cannot gamble on that.

There's no way we pay £7.5M for him.

Not a chance.

19 Apr 2026 11:23:18
For me, firstly it's about Skov.
We have no idea what is going on in his life just now.
Yes he is a player for our team, yes on money that some of us can only dream about, but first and foremost he is a human being.
Is there a reason for this, are there issues.
Does he need and get support.

Granted it might be none of the above, but

People react differently, some need a boot up the proverbial, others an arm.

I would agree we can't spend money on the hope he will come good, but who am I.
That's the club's decision, they see him every day. They will make an informed decision.

19 Apr 2026 11:27:37
I'm hugely disappointed in Olson, I expected far more. For me, it's a no - unfortunately.

19 Apr 2026 11:30:33
Coldo, he has won more league titles than most of the Rangers squad.

Winning mentality is not an issue.

19 Apr 2026 11:37:27
I don't understand why you are picking out a guy that has one more than one league title when we have nearly a full squad that have won less? So, just to put other names out there, Tav shouldn't play again as he hasn't got winning mentality, one title? Raskin, what has he won? Souttar? What has Manny won? You can go through the full team, but instead of doing that, just get behind the full team and get behind whoever Rohl decides to pick.

You could easily go through our full team and find faults if you want, but would rather get behind them for these last 5 games.

19 Apr 2026 11:41:42
Boy has demons and is struggling and none of us has a clue what's wrong. Just feel there is always an opportunity presented to kick the guy when he's down on here, support is better than derision.

19 Apr 2026 11:53:49
Olsen just isn't the same player he was a few years ago. Confidence or fighting demons, nobody knows. Hopefully his mentality improves greatly, but signing him is a different story for me. He'd be our biggest earner without his transfer fee.

It matters not what he won in the past, very talking about present time, something that never gets mentioned on here either. Olsen has missed around 40 games through injury since 2023.

19 Apr 2026 11:59:49
He's not the same player he was, why no one knows. I hope he can rediscover his old self, but at the current terms, it should not be at Rangers, too much wages, too much money to buy. I would only take him back on loan at 1/3 of his wages and half his loan fee, with an option to buy.

19 Apr 2026 12:30:02
If we could extend the loan by a season and pay a 2m fee in the hope he rediscovers past form I'd be willing to take the chance after a full pre season. Currently it's a simple no to activating his clause.

19 Apr 2026 12:35:08
After the last international break, he had time to work with the coaches, and again now in Spain. If he doesn't come back and hit the ground running, it's a big No - not even a loan.

19 Apr 2026 12:36:23
Big Dado caveat that with the fee reducing to around 3.5 million Euros if Wolfsburg get relegated.

Surely it makes good sense to take the risk.

19 Apr 2026 12:46:34
The lad has quality and that is something not a single person on here can deny, the issue is purely all inside his head. But to hear that he is isolating from the rest of the squad means imo we can't take the risk to sign him for the kind of prices we have heard.

It could be as simple as he doesn't feel like he belongs because he is a loan player but could be something much worse.

Honestly though, Glasgow just isn't the kind of place where he will be allowed to work through said issues as the pressure here is and always will be immense.

19 Apr 2026 12:55:51
Big Dado, his salary is around 2.7m a year, mate. Say we give him a four year contract, over 10m on his current salary, we can't go signing a player on past reputations, he's hardly kicked a ball much the last few seasons, that's without taking into consideration him missing around 40 games through injury in that time.

If he doesn't really impress in the remaining games, I'd be sending him back to Germany. We do sign him, I believe it will be a big mistake, but hopefully, if we do, he'll prove me wrong.

19 Apr 2026 12:57:14
Zikos, it is a fair point. Maybe this break and some team bonding might help him, so we will see if there is any improvement in the next few games. I do think, if it was EUR3.5m, then probably worth the risk.

19 Apr 2026 12:59:54
Whatever is wrong with Skov Olsen, he sure doesn't lack talent, because there's no doubt he's a talented footballer, but of course yet to do it for us. ? Having said that, it's far too early to give up on him, because I've no doubt his confidence will return, and when it does, I think we'll all see the player we know he can be.

? I wouldn't and don't think we'll pay the current asking price for him on a permanent deal, but hopefully there's wriggle room for possibly another loan deal with option to buy on a lower transfer fee. ?

19 Apr 2026 13:14:36
I'm on the side with a full pre season under Rohl. Skov Olsen will improve to the player he once was. I'd imagine most in the team will improve significantly.

19 Apr 2026 13:41:22
Really crass and classless OP.

First and foremost, he's a human being.

The guys got mental health issues. Has he performed as well as we'd have hoped?
Absolutely not, but there's more important things in life.

I hope these issues never visit you or your family.

19 Apr 2026 13:54:27
Athole, ??? total respect my friend.

19 Apr 2026 13:57:25
He will be good next season when we sign him on a perm. Short memories of Steven Davis' loan spell. The Rangers legend started the same way and started to kick on post split. The rest is history.

19 Apr 2026 14:02:51
We will 100 percent pay the price, Sir Walter, that's why they put as much effort into telling you he's having issues.

He was always a player for next season. The board can't tell fans that because they hate future planning.

Americans love playing the media, this set up to feed a narrative post season, he's better and when we sign him 'all he needs is a preseason'.

That's why you got news about RM being cheeper to sack at Christmas? It was to try and bide him time.

Why do you think now when Celtic put out their dembelle dollar fees for players you see articles the next day about our dembelle dollar transfers.

Americans love playing the media game, they're the best, think around what is happening and being said and you'll see patterns.

Same reason why I know Skov is a Rangers player next season excluding a serious injury, which is why is an option not an obligation due to age, we will be required to take it up if he plays x games or is fit.

19 Apr 2026 14:10:03
To tldr, you don't put this much effort into a player in the media if you've not already decided he's a Rangers player next season, which I believe he was always going to be regardless of this six months to settle and get up to speed.

19 Apr 2026 14:24:12
As long as he's getting whatever support, if any, is needed while he's here, but sorry, wouldn't be taking up the option on his wages or fee. It's far too expensive a gamble when he isn't doing it on the park. There's plenty of players with serious issues as well who do still perform.

19 Apr 2026 14:34:56
Not seen this particular issue in the media anywhere, only became aware during the chat on here.

Gd post Athole. ?

19 Apr 2026 14:40:47
I hope we support him, create a platform that helps him rediscover his confidence and that he plays a part in firing us to the title.

Rather than keeping players who are struggling as far away from the team as possible.

19 Apr 2026 15:02:16
Hes a good player in a bad spot

I also think he is in a bad place mentally, but look what a few goals against Celtic did for big Chermiti.

Hopefully he shows up for this run in. A few big moments might give him the spark

19 Apr 2026 15:08:53
Good sense and take the risk don't make good sense, Aphelion. Too expensive to take the risk even at reduced fee. He shows what he can do before the season end or it's tata.

19 Apr 2026 15:25:36
Ayrshire, different between Chermiti mate, he does the yards for his teammates, when have we seen Olsen do the same?
It's the 2.7m a year salary for doing very little.

19 Apr 2026 17:54:15
Don't know what's wrong with the lad to be fair, but I get the impression football is not his be all & end all & he looks like he would love to be somewhere else. But, not many professions paying the sort of money he is on, not his fault.

19 Apr 2026 20:54:59
Aph, if the 3.5m figure is true upon relegation, then it definitely takes a good bit of risk away from the deal. ? It's pretty much the going rate for any player now.

Mystar, he may not be getting a 2.7m salary if he signs for us perm mate.
I'll back him if he signs, but I get it's really hard to say yes to a deal the now.
