On the topic of keepers I think Brighton no2 Jason Steele would be a good option and would be attainable to us in summer
Hed have a year on his contract and is in /20k a week which is over a third less than Butland and I'd say he's maybe a better keeper. Never really had a good run as no1 in he's career and at 35 yo might fancy a crack at Europe and some trophies up here.
Probably get him for £4-5m

Played for Sunderland around ten years ago, Stevie, and on the performances, it would be a big No, but will have improved, wouldn't be thinking of paying 4/5m for him right enough, mate.

The only GK that I know we were really active in terms of scouting was Stojan Lekovic, who at the time we were very close to signing.
I have a sneaky suspicion that we'll see a GK join from the German leagues.

He's a good keeper, Steele is. The price is based on EPL tax, lads. I can't see us signing an EPL keeper for £2m or whatever, doys?
I think he's a cracking keeper.
Anytime I've seen him play cup games for Brighton, and last season or season before he got a good run due to injuries, he was outstanding.

I would dispute that Steele is better than Butland, and the saving in wages would be offset by paying £4 to £5million for him. That's a deal that makes no sense financially or from a playing point of view.

Biggar, because like any proper team in world football you need to be playing out from the back and have a keeper capable of doing this. I love Big Jack, but lbh he's horrendous with the ball at his feet, making us go long way more often than we should be, mate.
