Reading some posts over the past couple weeks,
I genuinely don't get the reaction to Mikey Moore at all.
The boy comes in, works his socks off every game, shows quality on the ball, takes responsibility, and actually looks like he's trying to make things happen yet somehow he's getting picked upon?
Is this seriously about a rumoured £15m fee? Because if it is, that says more about the fans than the player. He's not set that price, and he's not hiding he's actually putting in the effort people constantly demand.
Or is it because he's keeping Finlay Curtis out the team? Because that argument doesn't hold up either. Where was this energy when Kent came in? Or Tillman? Or Sima? Or Cortes? Or Skov Olsen? All of them have blocked pathways for younger players at some point, but they didn't get this weird resistance straight away.
Feels like Moore is being judged differently and unfairly at times in my opinion.
At the end of the day, what more do people want right now? He's contributing, he's showing intent, and he's clearly got ability. Not every player hits the ground with goals and assists immediately, especially in a team that's not exactly flying.
Maybe instead of looking for faults, fans should recognise that he's actually one of the few putting a shift in and trying to drive the team forward.
More so than Skov so far, Kent in his last year or so definitely more then Cortes had ever shown in his short appearances
Or are we now at the stage where effort, quality, and attitude still aren't enough?
Whether he leaves or we manage to get another loan, let's appreciate what he does and can do
So much negativity at times when we're trying to challenge for the title - it's the same with Barron too much negativity around him from certain fans,
Appreciate what there doing and what they bring compared to some others.

Why don't we just try and support every player, Stig.
It surely can't be a defence for certain players, yet it's deemed acceptable to belittle other players.
I am one who has said for all their energy, both players do not provide as good numbers on average as players who get slaughtered every single day.
I respect what they bring and enjoy the energy they play with, but my objective mind also makes me consider the final output.

Superb post and can't argue with any of that, mate. ? I rate Mikey Moore very highly, Thestigno1, as you'll know by my posts on him, and he gives his all for Rangers. ? ?? As well as being a very talented young footballer, he also has a fantastic attitude, so absolutely no argument from me regarding your post, pal. ? ??

Stig, good post, and I don't disagree, but you could say the exact same thing about Chermiti and his price. He had no say over it either. Yet the response is that he is our player, and Moore isn't, so we can criticise him even more.
I am one who likes Moore, but if we are going to develop a young player, I would rather it was one who is owned by us. I can see why Curtis needed to go on loan to get to the next stage as well, though, but that doesn't mean I don't think, in future, it should always be a kid from our academy.
None of that means I don't support Moore whilst he is here, but also I realise that his price is the same as 3 or 4 other players who we need for other positions.
So it is a double edged sword, but given that fans can't even accept that the players we buy won't hit the ground running, and aren't perfect, it is probably an argument that won't be won over a loan player.
But, like Aphe says, support the player whoever he is, and we might actually see improvement as time goes on.

Will not be repeated under Andrew's leadership, my friend.

I appreciate what he brings to the game, been one bright light to an otherwise poor season. However, I don't want to loan him for another season as I think his salary and transfer will be too much.
So why assist developing someone who won't be ours, and we will never make any money from him. Spend it on 3 or 4 other players who we can develop for ourselves and make some profit, hopefully.

Not slagging Moore but Kent, Tilman, Cerny and Sima all had better numbers than he has. Experienced players keeping a youngster of our own out of the team is a bit more acceptable than a loanee youngster doing the same. I must stress again, not slagging Moore, all I would say is I certainly wouldn't pay £20million to keep him.
01 Apr 2026 21:11:55
Also remember wslgers4ever, Mikey Moore is only 18 years old. ?
01 Apr 2026 21:24:47
I wouldn't be paying £20m either. I'd be happy with another loan if we can get it.
I was one of the few on here from the start backing Curtis to stay and play. Even in pre-season, I was arguing that, so I'm not just jumping on it now.
Angus - Chermiti. I've said before there's a good player in there, and I still believe he'll come good once he settles, gets consistent minutes, and actually has some proper service around him.
I wasn't even arguing about other players, I only mentioned Moore because of the level of negativity aimed at him.
For me, the bigger issue is this: we lack creativity. Across areas centrally and even on the wings, we're not creating enough to get the best out of our strikers.
That said, I think Moore brings more than he gets credit for. Same with Barron, he adds work rate and balance. It might not be flashy or creative, but it's important and contributes to the overall team.
Aphe, where did I say it's acceptable to belittle players? Genuine question.
There's a clear difference between criticism and disrespect. Even saying some players could be moved on because they're not contributing enough or making an impact isn't belittling, it's just football.
That's what transfer windows are for: moving on players who aren't bringing what's needed, using the player trading model to strengthen the squad.
We've got a decent squad as it stands, and another summer window to improve. With the right additions, this could be a very strong side, there's a lot of potential there.
All I'm saying is players like Moore and Barron deserve more credit than they get.
And with Skov when he can play a full 90 and cover the ground needed and provide the creativity consistently he'll get the plaudits too. Right now, for me, he's just not quite there yet and that's not belittling, that's just being honest with my opinion.
01 Apr 2026 21:42:35
Stig, where did I say you said it was acceptable?
I, for one, have not mentioned Skov Olsen.
But, I have noticed that your vehement defence of our players has been non-existent in regards to the abhorrent language used to describe some of our players.
All my reply was about was fairness and equality.
01 Apr 2026 22:08:50
I think you've misunderstood my point a bit.
I never said you personally mentioned Skov Olsen or said anything was acceptable. I was talking more broadly about how players are discussed on here.
My whole point is exactly what you're now saying: there's a line between criticism and disrespect. I've got no issue with saying a player isn't performing or might need moved on. That's football, as I've said.
And, on fairness, that's all I'm asking for.
If we're judging players, it should be consistent. Moore and Barron don't get the same level of balance in how they're talked about, despite what they bring to the team.
And that vehement defence of our players you mentioned has been non-existent in regards to them both. You're absolutely correct. ✅
Fairness and equality should be consistent across the board, not when it suits. I'd agree with that statement!
01 Apr 2026 22:45:29
So are we both saying the same thing and completely misunderstanding each other, Stig?
Your original post was absolutely correct. I just mentioned that particular level of support, which is pages of posts praising every breath these two young men take, is non-existent for other players who, on average, have more productivity for the team.
Slov Olsen has 4 goal contributions in 7 matches = a goal contribution in 57.14% of matches.
Moore, by comparison, has 9 goal contributions in 41 matches = a goal contribution in 21.95% of matches.
All I ask is fairness for everyone.
01 Apr 2026 23:44:29
Moore is miles better than Olsen, it's obvious or should be.
02 Apr 2026 01:30:25
I would say the biggest difference at this time between Moore & Olsen is heart & desire to get involved. Olsen gives the impression he couldn't care less, whereas Moore gives everything he has in games he plays. The same could be said about Barron.
02 Apr 2026 07:08:44
Firstly let me say I rate Skov Olsen and was delighted when we signed him on loan. ? However, imo Mikey Moore will go on to have a better football career than Skov Olsen and again I'll state clearly, imo. ? ??
02 Apr 2026 08:34:26
It's nothing to do with his price, Stig.
And I'd rather have Curtis getting his minutes than us developing a player for another club.
And God forbid we don't win the league. What would have then been the point of developing Moore?
Can't see anyone sitting back in 10 years time saying - "Remember that player from Spurs we had, was exciting to watch at times even though we won nothing".
02 Apr 2026 10:40:43
I know where you're coming from, MPH, but having Mikey Moore just now with his undoubted ability and the way he's playing gives us a much better chance of winning the league title, mate. ? We could be also saying in a few years i.e. "Remember that Spurs player we had on loan from Spurs and the contribution he made when we pipped Hearts and Celtic to the league title in 25/26 season." ? MPH, imo, Mikey Moore can absolutely make the difference big time for us, in this 3 way fight for the league title, mate.

Mph, as I said in OP, we could say that about a lot of our loans who came in and have stopped our own players, young and of developed age, from getting game time.
So why has this never been an issue before?
Genuine question.
I've stated before, most I wanted Curtis to stay and play and get games way back.
Was told at time he wasn't ready, but now, all of a sudden, Moore is taking minutes off him.
I rate Curtis, and I want him back. He's got some shot on him and score goals and takes on his man.
He's a great wee player who will get better in my opinion.
But it doesn't stop me from rating and backing Moore whilst he's here.
Think of Malik, Kent, Sima, etc etc, they all stopped someone from getting game time at some point. Where was this support for the ones who couldn't get a game then?
Think some seem to have just taken a dislike to young player from Spurs.
Don't get it, and don't think I will ever get it, since I have already said Curtis should have stayed. We could have both.
02 Apr 2026 13:20:18
If we had brought Moore through our ranks we would be wanting 30m+ for him because of his age, the boy is special and I love watching him.
