Not Rangers related.
I would like to highlight the potential of Leonard Prescott.
This young man looks set to make his Bayern München debut tomorrow out of necessity at the tender age of 16.
In my opinion Germany is an example to us all.
If you provide a platform and pathway for young players only then can you develop a conveyor belt of talent.

Young lad who just played for Arsenal also aph.
Makes me wonder of how poor our set up is. For instance, Dr wanted to put Kyle Glasgow on the bench for a cup game but was stopped due to his age. I believe he's turned 16 now. If Dr thought highly of him, why has he not been given an opportunity since?
Davie, possibly because it was a cup game. You see the stick experienced players get on here for having a poor game or making a mistake. What would the manager get if the young lad makes a mistake that costs us the game?

Aphelion, I have also watched the young Lenard Karl at Bayern play this year. He really looks a top talent and so natural on the ball, the first time I saw him, I knew he was a player.

I agree Germany is a great example of giving youth a chance. I do remember a number of years ago, after a poor World Cup, their authorities took action to restructure and prioritise their country, something our FA wouldn't do. However, I do wonder if this is also due in part to it being such a one-team league. The moment any of the others find a talent, Bayern snap them up, even from their big rivals.
With them winning heavily most weeks, they can afford to bring in young players, and the other clubs don't have the same expectations, so they are more prepared to give youth a chance, knowing they can make a big profit. Even the likes of Haaland and Bellingham were brought in with a short-term view of making big profits, not for long-term success.

Penrith, I get your point, but if he's rated highly for a 1 off knockout tie in a cup, he's rated highly enough for the league, surely. If he makes that mistake you mention in a cup game and we get knocked out, or makes the same mistake in a league game where it may not matter.

Davie, I agree the match shouldn't matter, but the opposition in the cup was Queens Park, and yes I know they beat us last year. However, even with a 15 yo getting minutes, we would always have enough in our team to beat them, but the attitude needs to be right. Last year's result means that was always going to be the case.
So he would get 10/15 minutes at the end when we were a couple up. That doesn't happen in SPL often this year.
I also wonder if there was a little bit of it being used as a temptation for him signing his first professional contract, i.e. to show there is a first team chance for him.

Karl is class.
Aphelion, cheers for his name, mate. I'll need to check him out.
Davie, that's only in Scotland. Look at Arsenal playing 15 year olds in the Champions League, mate.
17 Mar 2026 11:17:35
Davie, no rush to play Glasgow now, he has signed a two year deal.
17 Mar 2026 11:20:27
Angus, it wasn't Queen's Park; it was Annan, the game they were talking about playing him in.
Davie, big difference from playing Annan to playing, say, Killie.
17 Mar 2026 11:32:11
Thought it strange complaining they couldn't play him against Annan, then didn't play him against QP when they could, as he'd turned 16, Storm.
17 Mar 2026 11:33:31
Correct, Storm. Only way Glasgow gets minutes now is when league is over.
17 Mar 2026 12:12:59
Aphelion, I be watching that game, mate. My monies on Bayern. I got them at 13/2 earlier in the season for them winning the Champions League this season. They must have the best front three in the world right now.

Bayern look the team to beat this year. Last year, you could see PSG were a stick on from before Christmas. This year, although not as confident as last, Bayern look the bet.
17 Mar 2026 13:44:37
If Glasgow is as highly regarded as some say he is and what I've read about him (not seen him play), then there is nothing stopping Rohl putting this lad on the bench from next year, and giving him chances when we have games won comfortably.
John, I get he has signed a 2 year extension, but if we seriously want him to commit further, then I'm confident we have to start having him exposed to men's football, or he will just not resign and head to England. Just imo of course.
17 Mar 2026 14:23:52
BbJ, when do we win games comfortably?
17 Mar 2026 14:33:32
We don't this season, Storm. That's why I put from next season lol, when we hopefully do.
17 Mar 2026 15:21:32
Don't want another Billy Gilmour scenario, and if Glasgow is a top talent, give him some minutes in the first team or include him in the squad.
17 Mar 2026 16:02:40
Big Blue, regardless, he will move at 18.
17 Mar 2026 17:47:02
Seems to be the norm, John.
