Sometimes I really don't know what to think about DR. Sure he got us back in the race but come on look at the disparity between our spending power compared to 10 other teams in the league. The recent performances away from home have been dire, totally outplayed by Motherwell, boring against Hibs and being 2 down to the worst team in the league.

I am as desperate to win the league as any Rangers fan, currently we are up against a Celtic team with some of their best players injured some who look totally disinterested and they are a club totally at war with the fan base and their board. If we don't win it then Hearts have to, I can't go into the summer watching that Celtic team win 5 in a row, I actually think if Celtic win it it will put us back years.

Our last 3 away draws have been utterly dreadful; there is no two ways about it. Maybe it's past trauma from being a Rangers fan, but I can't shake the feeling of when PC came in and we got back in the title race and blew it.

We are all disappointed with the results, especially at this time of the season. Hibs and Motherwell were always going to be difficult, and the Hibs game came after the European game. Livi started well, then complacency set in, then anxiety. But we created plenty. For me, the Motherwell game was most disappointing, as we went to the back 5 when a goal ahead, giving them the initiative. Then we couldn't control the game when a man up. Ultimately, 3 goals were lost from set pieces in those games.

Why bring everyone back when the likes of Moore and Gassama are poor defensively? Also, Gassama, Moore, Olsen, Aasgaard. Can we really afford to play 3 of these 'luxury' players in a game before we win the battle on the field? The good news is the other 2 challengers don't look convincing, though Hearts are eking out the results. It's that battling attitude we need to adopt consistently to win this title.

I think that the January window has changed expectations because the initial impression is it's as good a window as we have had for a while. While that is justified, I think, as fans, we tend to get a bit carried away with our expectations and it's probably gone too far.

I think it would be a major disappointment if we don't win because, as you say, Celtic are the worst we have seen in ages.

At the same time, we are not close to the finished article. We have a ton of young players, a lot of whom don't have a lot of experience. There is going to be inconsistency in the performance levels as a result.

Regarding DR, there has been a shift in recent games to make us more expansive as a team. We have been getting way more players in the box compared to his early days.

I don't think we win the league without doing that, but it's a bumpy process. I think our performance levels as a whole have gone up significantly, but our worst levels have also gone down because of the change. It may be next season before we truly see the benefits of doing this.

What I am happy about is that we do have a squad of young players who are gaining invaluable experience right now. I think they will all improve and be better next season as a result. I also think the owners will continue to drive improvement in our squad because they have not come here to be second.

I genuinely believe we are going to be good; this feels like a new era to me. Celtic are already playing catch up when I look at both clubs right now.

Storm, I understand the point, but both PC and Beale, to be fair to him, won a load of games. I don't like to, but Celtic deserved credit for being relentless in those seasons. They were dropping nothing at all.

This season is different for me because those Celtic teams would be 20 points clear right now; this Celtic team are not remotely close to those teams. They are kinda rubbish, LMAO. They could still win it, but only because no one is that good right now, and it's a totally different situation to those two seasons for me.

24 Feb 2026 19:20:16
Did anyone actually expect us not to drop points? Deluded if you did. If someone had said in October that we would have half a shot at the title, you would have laughed then.

24 Feb 2026 19:32:05
I was having a dig at a Celtic supporter mate of mine today when I said that they hadn't made any permanent signings, only loans in January. He made the point that they didn't make any permanent transfers as Mon will not be there next season. Reeks of arrogance on their part; this is another reason why we have to win it.

24 Feb 2026 20:01:10
Ajd, we aren't in October now. Things have changed, can't keep saying 'oh, look where we were.' We have done brilliant to get back in the title race, but we are in it now, and if we blow it, it will be on Danny and the team. Can't get the plaudits and then not the criticism.

24 Feb 2026 20:12:24
Agree, Strom, and, watching on Sunday, I immediately thought about that loss against Ross County a couple of years back when, at a vital time, we started dropping points. Tav and Souttar were still in the defence, and, for me, we look like conceding a lot more recently.
Even big Fernandez hasn't been great defensively.
I heard a lot of opinions on here that it was one of those days on Sunday, and yes, the first goal was a great hit, but defending for their second was woeful.

The boy had all the time in the world, unmarked, then picked his spot.
Ifs and buts, I know, but we probably would have won had we kept it at 1-0 at that point.
I normally have people disagreeing with me, so why change, and I would go as far as to say if he persists with the same defence then we will keep conceding.
Maybe we don't have the stability in defence at the moment to play with a flat back four, so I wouldn't be upset if we went back to a five to try and keep clean sheets again.

24 Feb 2026 20:25:13
Rosevale, not disagreeing, but the issue was, looking back, that all of our players were between the posts at the second goal, so it didn't matter who was defending if that was what was being asked to defend the set play. So, as well as that awful zonal marking, it is causing us to be really narrow.

24 Feb 2026 20:53:06
Angus, you go to where the danger is, and Tav was so slow to react. By the time he did, the boy had got his shot away. Even if he was not initially picking the boy up, it is his side. We can persist with that same back four, as it will lead to winning nothing.

I hope Rohl looks at it pragmatically, and whilst we need to be on the front foot, that has to be done with the insurance at the back. Looks like Sterling won't be fit, and Barron not fit to plug gaps, so he will have to come up with something.

Strangely enough, Djiga is hit and miss but dealt with the boy at Motherwell well, and he had pace. Cornelius may be coming in at left back to allow Rommens forward, and go back to having Tav on the bench, as he will cost us like before. It's not ideal, but Aarons might deal with Maeda better by having more pace.

24 Feb 2026 21:12:46
We have done well to get in the mix for the title. However, we are not making it easy. I don't think we have the right to go into any game expecting to win, given how inconsistent we are. A big part of that is our strikers can't be relied on to score goals consistently, and apart from Fernandez, no one else is shipping in.

Oh, and, just for the record, I wouldn't be taking up the operation to sign Olsen in the summer. Massive let down.

24 Feb 2026 21:32:33
How is it arrogant saying they didn't sign permanent players because the manager won't be here next season? I'm confused.

24 Feb 2026 22:04:44
Roxevale, not saying Tav wasn't part of the blame, just hate the jump to blame him for everything. Just watched it again, and the scorer isn't actually being picked up man for man and doesn't really move. Raskin is/was closest, but when he has the poor clearance he runs at the boy on the edge of the box, leaving the scorer in space.

Rommens and Tav are nearest and try to close it down. So who is really to blame there, the setup or Raskin trying to close down a player and leaving the one he is marking? Watch it again and tell me.

24 Feb 2026 22:07:53
Good post, Rosevale. A lot of people were banging on about having the best defence in the league when we never did, because Motherwell were always the same. Maybe for like 3 days, statistically we did at best. I have never been a fan of Souttar. He isn't a Rangers ch, imo; he is better in a team with their backs against the wall.

I just hope next season he is backup. He costs us constantly in defence, like Tav, but some seem to think he is great. Rohl got the defence better, and he needs to get back to that, or we will not win the league. The way we are leaking goals is so poor, it's horrible to watch.

24 Feb 2026 22:15:16
Orange, when I said they were arrogant I meant they think they are good enough with what they've got without spending serious money on permanent signings.

24 Feb 2026 22:45:05
Queens Park knocked us out of the cup at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl steamrollered the same team.

He has improved us, and we were in a right mess. Even if it doesn't go our way this year, I think Rohl has done enough to earn our respect and a chance to go again next season.

24 Feb 2026 23:28:27
Angus, I watched it back, and we differ on that, and that's fine.
But I stand by it. Without having a pop at Tav, if we continue with him at right back, that same back four will cost us games, and that's just my take. Rohl knows he's not the answer defensively, so he needs to do a bit of tweaking with what's available to him.
That's four goals in the last two games we have conceded after Rohl said we need to have clean sheets, so he will need to act quickly.

I was a bit disappointed that we didn't add some experience into the back line in January to cover the right side. Sterling is never going to be the answer because of fitness. Aarons is not deemed good enough, so we are back with Tav as the main option.

25 Feb 2026 08:13:01
Rosevale, I agree on the fact we haven't replaced. If managers think any of our players are so poor, then why not just do it now? But over the years have we ever replaced them.

Stupid goals are starting to creep back in, when we were strong defensively and not giving any away.

The ones on Sunday came from set pieces, which we had sorted. It coincides with us trying to play more expansively, I feel, and maybe it is just a case of getting the balance right for now between attack and defence, and building further in the summer.

25 Feb 2026 09:12:48
Not sure what the alternative is to Tav as Sterling is injured. Aarons got slaughtered on here?
