Chermiti's Sofascore average so far out of 10:-
August – 6.6
September – 6.3
October – 6.4
November – 6.3
December – 6.8
January – 7.1
February – 7.5
No surprise his average is up in January and February when he's played his 2 standout games in a Rangers jersey.
No surprise he's been average / below average the rest of his Rangers career as I can't remember another decent performance.
But fingers crossed he can build on his Hearts performance.

The money spent and the wages are always going to hang over his head, which isn't his fault, but it's something he's going to have to live up to. If we had brought through one of our own, like Curtis, for example, and he was 21 years old and putting in the same level of performance as Chermiti, I think we would all be very happy and hopeful for the boy.
If Chermiti was a free transfer, it would be the same. Unfortunately, we spent a fortune on the boy, and that pressure is always going to be on him, wrongly if you ask me, but it's the nature of the beast here.

He's been very lucky with a few of his goals (defenders running away from him, keeper kicking the ball into the net, ball bouncing off players into his path, or just where keepers should do better, etc).
The header at the weekend was his best goal by far.

The same stats would tell you Tavernier has been our best player for most months, Mph.

Let's be honest, if Chermiti had come through our system, we would be saying not ready, should go out on loan.

Lbh, it's not been good enough thus far from the big boy, but, having said that, we need to remember his age; he has not played many career games either. I'm hopeful that his games against Celtic and Hearts are a sign of the player he can become on a regular basis. In the meantime, let's get right behind him. ?

Ally, you could literally spin the tail with any goal ever. Please just get behind the boy instead of hating on the lad. We all need to get behind him, as it'll be pivotal to the title race.

Mph, I like your stats, but I feel the need for some context, as the actual facts show a different read, imo.
I am mainly interested in the August average, as he never joined us until deadline day and did not make his debut until 13 September, so he could not have played for us.
In those months, he started regularly in the Europa League (when everyone was poor), but was a sub in most games up to the end of November: six out of seven games as a sub, and twice not even in the squad. It is difficult for any player to come on and get high ratings. Check player ratings on the BBC after matches and see.
Since December he has been starting, with three games started and three times as a sub (just as his ratings go up).
In January and February he has started six out of eight games, missing the other two when he was injured. Again, a good increase in average ratings.
So, when his stats were poor he was mainly coming on as a sub, or we were poor in Europe.
Since he has been starting, his ratings are steadily rising; perhaps being affected by the Hearts and Celtic games, but it is an average, so still a steady improvement.
So, it is only fair to be accurate when trying to look at a player, surely.

Star Tavernier is the top rated player across the season according to SofaScore averages, beating Nygren, Maswanhise and Shankland. :)
17 Feb 2026 16:34:57
Ally, give Chermiti some credit for God's sake, mate. ?
17 Feb 2026 16:40:31
Misleading stats. Chermiti had more than a couple of good performances.
Some won't be interested in the stats though, Angus, so James Tavernier being the top rated player from the same site is again misleading.
17 Feb 2026 16:45:43
Ally, just one comment from me. If the goalie kicks the ball into the net, how would it be Chermiti's goal?
17 Feb 2026 16:53:03
A goal is a goal; it doesn't matter if 30 a season go in off his arse. Get behind the players and the team. I'm sick to death of negative comments about our players.

Hence the saying about lies, damned lies and statistics.
17 Feb 2026 18:26:09
JFM, I like them and they always have a place, but do need that context at times.
Not a go at MPH either, as I have looked at stats in the past and just put what I read, and will do it again. You assume the source has cleaned them up, but that isn't always the case.
17 Feb 2026 19:16:43
No problem with anybody putting them up, Angus. You are correct that full context is needed, re statistics, as they can so easily be manipulated to suit whatever side of an opinion.
17 Feb 2026 22:36:43
Yes, because nobody knows anything unless they have star in their name.
