Trying to let the dust settle and offer my view which I feel is balanced. Firstly the manager appeared to get things wrong tactically. Personnel wise, I believe he is managing the players the way he feels is best. Looking at the pitch last night I certainly would not have risked Rommens for example. That looked worse than some amateur pitches.

Secondly I keep seeing Celtic mentioned because they got a last minute winner against the worst team in the league at home.

We got a draw against one of the form teams and best coached teams in the league where so many only a few weeks ago were saying they were not confident at getting anything from the match.

No one thought we would be in a title race after Martin and now people are saying Danny is not the right man to lead is forward because we have drawn a match.

Win on Sunday we are 2 points behind.
It's not over so I will not throw in the towel.

Not read a single comment saying Danny isn't the right man for the job. A lot of frustrated Bears, and rightly so. Not read people saying he needs to go?

APH, it's not just dropping 2 points and giving Celtic the initiative again, it's the manner of the performance that depresses me. Totally outplayed, outfought, and even when they went down to 10, Motherwell wanted it more.

I agree with that assessment also, Asa, felt he went with the wrong line-up to begin with. Would have loved us to see it out for the three points, but as you say, not the end of the world getting the draw on that pitch against one of the form teams.

There will be more bumps in the road for us, Hearts, Motherwell, and Celtic before May.

Quietly confident of a result on Sunday, however.

Totally agree with you, Aph. Perspective is purely down to the result for many, which I can understand, but a decent result when we were outplayed for the majority of the game. Disappointed we couldn't hold on, but a fair result.

Agree that Celtic just aren't quite at it and are buzzing that they just got over the line against the bottom team in the league, and same against Dundee in the Cup.

Don't often disagree with you, Aph.
But Motherwell played some lovely attacking football on that pitch.
And, to win titles, you need to collect 3 points no matter who we face.
That's us dropped points to the 4th and 5th best teams in the league currently. Hearts scored a last minute winner against Hibs.
Celtic got the 3 points - that's all that matters, no matter who you are up against at this stage of the season.

And getting back into a title race shouldn't be the limit of our ambitions just because of a bad start. We need to push on and believe we can win it.
It isn't all over, but we can't keep giving up the opportunity to close the gap. Win last night and win on Sunday, and the gap was closed.
Now we are playing catch up once again.

Dado, no, you are right, but my worry is what is being said re wrong selections, tactics, etc., are the start of that road. No manager is going to pick the team which fans think is the strongest all the time, and that is because he knows who is fit to start every game, I reckon.

Why would any manager, when challenging for a title, not pick his best players, unless there is a reason for it? He isn't going out there trying to draw or lose games, as that ends up with him getting the sack.

12 Feb 2026 12:23:05
The manager got his team selection and substitutes wrong last night. Agree with EHL that our full backs were the weak links.

In saying that, Well were excellent, and we were still unfortunate not to pick up all three points. I am disappointed with the result, but its all about how we respond to disappointing results in a title fight for me.

This is our last midweek game for some time, and we will start to settle into a starting 11, which will be much better than last night's starting 11. I know fans don't like rotation in the team, but when it's a game every 3 days, it's essential to rotate the squad, otherwise plau.

* Otherwise, players levels drop, and injuries become a major issue. We have seen that over last few seasons.

Aph, mate, that is nonsense. No one is saying Danny Rohl ain't the right man.
It's also nonsense about drawing against form teams, etc. Celtic were playing the worst team in the league, but they still got over the line. That's what champions do. We couldn't get it over the line against 10 men, something you forget to mention.
I get you love Danny Rohl, but he got it badly wrong last night and deserves criticism, just like he takes it when he gets the plaudits.

Celtic last min winner 11 v 11.
Hearts last min winner 11 v 11.
Rangers lose a late goal against 10 men, something.

All of the top 3 teams have dropped points to the teams in 4th and 5th, that's what happens in competitive leagues. Celtic lost at Fir Park, and Hearts lost at Easter Rd recently, so you could say that we have done better than them both. I think all three teams are fairly even, form wise.

All three have also just scraped by the team at the bottom of the league, at home, by a single goal. Not sure about Hibs, but that Motherwell team will have a say in who wins the league, and I'm just glad we only have to play them once more, and that's at Ibrox.
