January is going to be hard, who would want to come to a team so poor.
They're either going to be.
1. total mercenaries just coming for daft wages.
2. from a low standard of league ( if possible)
3. see us as a quick stepping stone
4. really hate the pope ( joking)
5. up for a challenge and a fight
Really hope it's no.4 sorry I mean no. 5 but in all seriousness, we ain't going to get enough quality in to improve this shower of lazy toothless gits.
Think we will need the summer to actually make a dent, a few come January might steady the ship a bit but in all honesty, this team is a complete shambles, yes winning in the league ( just) but the next fixtures are going to be a hell of a lot tougher.
Feel really sorry for Danny, I seriously hope he can pull it off, but he's on tae plums with the vast majority of these misfits.

Shota, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
11 Dec 2025 21:31:06
Do you think mild contempt for the pope would do shota?
Totally agree tho, january will probs be more of a sticking a plaster on it type of situation.

Don't expect a lot from January it's going to take time to try and overhaul this side.
11 Dec 2025 21:46:00
Pleasantly surprised by what EHL? The quality of players being targetted or the number of pope haters joining?
Shota in all fairness we could scout any league in any country and easily find someone of more quality than what's in this team.

I, m holding ya to that EHL, I don't forgive or forget, you heard it hear lads, Erling, Kane and devlin on there way. ?.
11 Dec 2025 22:33:36
Ehl no offence meant here bud, but did you not also say we would be pleasantly surprised or similar with transfer dealings when the takeover happened? Serious question.
11 Dec 2025 23:07:43
This squad can't be sorted in one window that's how bad we are. No striker that can hold the ball up even when1-0 kicked it long and came straight back were only going to be one winner less said about the defence and captain marvel that you cat criticise even tho once again can't block a cross ?.
12 Dec 2025 02:50:22
Agreed Orange T, I seem to remember EHL being positive about the last lot!
God help us if the next lot are picked by computer readouts.

We were told at the start of the season we would be surprised at the signing and tbh we are. As only a couple are decent amd ones a 18yr loan player. The rest are abysmal.
12 Dec 2025 07:10:49
Orange T - you are 100% correct and absolutely no offence taken.
I was really excited about how our transfer plans were shaping up after the takeover - right up until we announced Martin and the whole approach changed.
At which point, I recall being anything but excited.
12 Dec 2025 09:03:29
EHL question for you mate, was it Martin or Thelwell that was the main driving force, that wanted to mainly focus on getting English lower league players in during the summer?
12 Dec 2025 09:14:29
Clearly DR will have a limited opportunity to reshape in January. I suspect the costs of 'early termination' of loan players would likely be expensive, draining further a kitty which I expect is already modest. We do require a dominant CB (ideally one who can also play a little), a good DM that can both protect back 4 and allow our CM more freedom. Added to that would love a real penalty box predator (but sadly those don't come cheaply), or a true done the byline and quality cross style winger….
In terms of where they are from I suspect Europe and quite possibly Bundesliga (2). Weirdly with the mess across the city currently and the wobbles all sides in SPL are experiencing I do believe we can get to January and still be in touch at the top… however I'll temper that by saying it more a reflection on the sad state of our domestic football rather than faith in our current squad.

Wishy, probably a combination.
If you recall, after it was announced that Koppen was leaving her stayed on at the club for 4-6 weeks (give or take) - this was to help Thelwell and Purdy with the deals he'd been working on over the summer.
Pretty much every deal was rejected by Martin as they weren't the profile he wanted.
Given that Martin had also told a huge chunk of the squad they weren't in his plans and most had started to find new clubs the recruitment team were left scrambling as all the work they'd done was wasted.
So Thelwell, Purdy and Martin were left to try and find alternatives from the connections they had within the game (which is predominantly England).
They did try to revisit a number of the original targets, but they'd either moved on or were no longer interested after how we'd treated them.
