Huge difference between the sides even though they both lined up similar.
Rangers, 4-2-3-1.
Dun United - 3-4-3.
As soon as United won the ball back, 2-3 passes and they are trying to hit their wingers/strikers.
Knowing that both FBs will be out of position.
We get the ball back and it's side to side letting United regain their shape.

and yet we had 32 shots to their 13 from our passing side to side. and their keeper made twice as many saves. Our issue is efficiency on the chances we had.

Its pretty basic, we just don't have the techical quality in the front areas of our team to convert the half chances. These are differnt chances the other teams get as there often just 1 on 1 as we don't park the bus so they don't need a refined technical attack whereas we are trying to go through an entre team parked in the box so you need higher quality, combine that with a poor defensive display = 1 point.

And yet we had double the possession.
So that's expected.
And yet only 30% of our shots were in target.
And yet 50% of Dundee's were.

Apart from the two goals United never troubled Butland. We may have struggled to finish our chances but we were much better than them in every aspect of the game.

£8 m wasted.

Mph it's pointless no point mate. He only sees it one way. United less than half our chances and scored 2 goals and we needed a last min pen for a draw. So United were better when they were in possession than us.

Wsl means nothing being better in every other way when it's goals that matter. We dropped points.

Thought our style of play was the best I've seen from us in a while last night, the problem being our strikers couldn't finish and our defence are way way off it, although I want to see Cameron in team I think DR is improving our play he just does not have the players.

correct MPH but your point was that we passed the ball side to side allowing them to regain their shape which wasn't the case and what I am arguing against.
we did have twice the possession, but we also had 2.5 times the shots, 1.7 times on target, 2 times touches in their box, 3 times as many successful final third passes, less total long balls. so if they had regained their shape then those figures show we were able to produce despite your claims of side to side football.
so my point was we didn't just pass it side to side (for once? ) but actually had quite a lot of end product created by more progressive passing without punting the ball long to our wingers as they did.
they were more efficient in taking their chances which isn't something I could argue against. but if we create 32 shots every game (the most by any team this season) then we will start to score more goals. Our issue is how open that leaves us at other end possibly.
btw good to have a chat about stats and how they can be interpreted to support an argument.

Our quicker tempo against dundee United on wednesday night was absolutely there and we moved the ball forward through the lines much faster ? Of course we undoubtedly missed a good few chances but the positive for me was we made a good few chances and if we had a top striker, we'd have won that game out the park ?Danny Rohl given time to build and mould has own team could be a really good manager for us imo ?.

It's not efficiency, it's profligacy throughout the team.

Stormtrooper I am not denying that but the initial post seemed to imply that United played better than us because of their system and that's just not true. We didn't do enough to win but in every measurable stat we were better than United and should have won if not for our awful strikers.
