Martin's press cons. are the best I can remember. I'm going back to Souness!
Times have changed for sure, but you can see why he has smashed the interview process.
He is by far the best communicator I can remember even better than SG who could be blunt quite often.
Providing he gets the results and time, I have no doubt he will improve our players. You can see why he has a good reputation for development.
Very thoughtful and insightful conversations, around character, training, ability, thought processes.
How he handled the leaked nonsense was class. He's controlled measured and mature. He seems like a man you would want to play for.
Here's hoping it goes the way we all crave.

Totally agree I've liked what I've saw from Russell Martin from day one even after the Motherwell game when many were getting their panties in a twist. people reverting to type throwing their hands up and not running hard enough. all he done was tell it like it is.

Agree GDog, and i wasn't convinced at first but he's growing on me.
The only thing is if he doesn't get a result people turn quick on him, just look at the weekend.

I've always backed the manager since he was appointed, and continued to back him after the panathanikos games and the motherwell game. I'm not getting too far ahead of myself, the reaction change from saturday to tuesday has been hard to read at times and annoys me how the same people who went from certain doom to now we have the best players will go back to doom the next time we draw, without giving enough time for change.
the amount of people that said he won't last till xmas, his tactics will never work, his signings are rubbish - not to mention the constant pull ups on his dress code.
Rangers fans are very fickle and they will go with whatever is in the moment, with russell martin and the takeover it'll take time and there will be bumps on the road. I urge those fans that have now been supporting of him after the plzen game to maintain that attitude throughout the season.

Although Russell Martin wasn't my first choice to replace philippe clement/ barry ferguson as our next manager/ head coach, i always did think he was in the running and posted as much ?I wasn't against him possibly getting the job but because i personally preferred others, i really do think he's come across very well so far and undoubtedly is a talented coach, who i feel even this early on can take us where we need to go but a bit of patience will be required ?I think he could now well prove to be the correct appointment and he also does speak intelligently well in front of the cameras and is a very high driven individual, who knows what he wants to achieve ??? I'm sure the vast majority of us are right behind Russell Martin and our team ???.

Just think after the Motherwell game a good few said he wasn't the man, then after Tuesday everything changed, I call it madness, he's not good enough but a few days later he is, man needs time to put his stamp on things then and only then will he be judge by me.

Wasn't just based on Motherwell game tho. It's what he did and said before, during preseason and the 1st 3 games that gave little reason for belief. However that completely changed this week. Everything was different, style intensity, belief. If he continues with the change even with bumps in the road then we've got something to get excited about. If he reverts back then forget it.

That is correct Kasier don't know why people just say one game as it wasn't and we have been here before where we have had good results in Europe and then rotten in the league today needs to mark the start of good displays and wins in the league.

I have to confess, I purposely haven't watched this week's as I can't stand them.
It's all about opinions, but Martin is comfortable one of the worst communicators I've seen at the club, and from what I can gather it's an issue that plagued him for a while now.
I know it's something that's caused a few issues already, so hopefully it's addressed quickly.

I think if RM had stuck with the tactics he played against Mwell then he would have been up the creek without a paddle. Thankfully he had the stones to recognise that those tactics would never work no matter how much time was given and he changed them. The tactics we saw against Plzen were night and day compared to those used against Mwell.

MyStar, I've been pretty open about the fact that I don't like Martin as a person - we have very different values, and for me values are incredibly important.
As coach, I also have concerns - that said, it was pleasing to see him listen to those around him and adapt his set up during the week. So hopefully he proves me wrong in the long run.

Madness would be repeating the same errors hoping for something different. It's not just about a few games though star. It will take time but what is it taking time to build towards? Trying to develop and polish the Motherwell and before system or the Plzen system. They were 2 completely different things. I know which I'd prefer him to take time with.

Gotta admit, I've not seen / heard many openly talking highly about him.
That said, I only base my own views on my direct experience - however, I'm by no means an exception, that's for sure.

Always wanted martin and see no reason to change, despite the mass hysteria of a dropped point on matchday one.
