So. I called it before he was even chosen as manager, and I'd like to state so again. Russe Martin is not the man for the job.
What I'm calling here is that he won't see out the season. He'll be sacked.
My take on it is we're going to lose big in Europe due to his tactics.
We don't have the quality in personnel to execute the way he sees the game, especially in defence.
I see us losing like 7,8 even 9 in a game maybe 2 games in champions league or Europa against an elite level team. You do come across them in the Europa too.
If we're trailing Celtic by a few points which we probably will be and then lose a few games by those margins, especially if one is at home then for me the owners will have no option but to sack him.
That being a my call
Big mistake going for him ahead of Ancelotti or even Gerrard or lampard and probably a few others.
Said at the time he wasn't for me and I think it will be proven.

I didn't want RM as manager either but we can't keep on sacking managers. My only hope is that he'll come good.

Not sure i can go along will all of that Stevie. I like you did not want RM. I stated before he was signed tgat his tactics are rotten. I hope he learns fast and changes but I can't see it. He believes his way is the right way. I sincerely hope we do not lisr any games by that sort of margin. I think it's going to be a tough season.

Yeah a few of us questioned his credentials Stevie. Thing is so though, if he drops this daft tactic he could do well as we do have some really good players.

Agree with a lot you say, but not losing game by over 7 goals, you would think players would have professional pride not to let that happen ever if it means ignoring RM instructions.

7 of the starters played last season and probably before that. are we really saying that it is down to the last 4 managers' different tactcis that we haven't won anything. I just don't buy that.
Stevie there is a risk for a club in our league to lose that many goals whoever is the manager depending on opposition. the last time we were in it happened and that was with Gio who was pragmatic as a coach.

He's not going to drop his philosophy of the way he feels the game should be played,
He didn't at Southampton and if you watched interviews before he came then that's we he believes in, he also said he realises about the need for us to win games of football so he will have to be able to
change things during a game if it's not working, time will tell if it works out but he has to be given a bit of time to at least get at least another four or five players in, you could see the frustration within him on Saturday when asked about players that have been asked to leave, no offers apart from one been made so extremely difficult to get some of the higher earners off the books to free up more money.

G4 It's not after 3 games I've made this predictions. It was aftet zero games and zero signings.
It was before martin was announced.
I predicted he would fair before he was chosen and so far it looks like I was correct.
I hope I am wrong. More than anything I want to be wrong.
Gers 58 it really isn't a big improbability looking at the way he plays so dangerously with the ball at the back, throw in the level of skill our players at the back have which is mini and it's a realistic fear that we plus lose 7-9 goals, as angs points out it happened before.
It would be best that we end up in the Europa for this team. Even then I'd fear with these tactics that it would happen depending on the level of team we face/
Absolutely don't see RM win in the league or making any sort of impact in Europe woth these tactics and the back line he's built or rather failed to build.

I agree totally with you Stevie g, this appointment is a mistake, yes he could mabye turn it around but he isn't exactly known for changing. If he continues on this route, once we face decent opposition, we will get pumped, and people keep saying the new owners are smart, and will have done their due diligence on him, and will give him time.
I, m not to sure about this, was he the best candidate they could have got, no and it's that simple, will they give him time, yes but not as much as people are making out, are they smart, yes I, m sure they are but they will also be ruthless, you don't get to that kind of level on the corporate ladder without being so.
Yes they won't pull the trigger after a few games but if this keeps up for a short while and can be seen to be clearly not working they will. People seem to forget that the 49rs have no genuine love for our club, we are a commodity like it or lump it, that's what we are, and I, m not knocking that, that's modern football . success on the field is the priority and if this ain't happening, it's see you later.
I don't think he will be here after x mas unless a massive turnaround and sadly it's back to the drawing board.
