I know that this is about the 40th post about this but it seems to be confusing people.
From uefas site;
If we lose to Pana, we go into the europa league 3rd round qualifying.
If we beat Pana and lose in the next round we (which is strange) go straight into the europa league group phase, not the playoff round. According to uefa, there is a league path and a champions path. We are on the league path. If you get passed this round in the champions path, but lose in the 3rd round of qualifying, you drop into the play off round for the europa. To be honest this doesn't make sense because you would assume that if you are in the champions path (winners of their league) it would be this section that would go directly into the league phase, however that is not the case. It's the losers in the league path games. Don't ask me why but that is it.
So to simplify, beat Pana and lose the next round, we are in the europa league group stages.
Lose to pana, we are in the 3rd round qualifying for the europa league.
Lose to pana and lose our 3rd round europa league game (worst case scenario), we go into play off for conference.
Don't shoot the messanger that's what uefa site says.

Cooperdad, we win the tie on Wednesday but lose the next champions league quailer then it's a play off to get into the Europa and if we lose that then it's into the conference.

Orange I think the rationale might be that the league phase are always 2nd place in their league but the champions phase are usually 3rd or worse. so despite complaints UEFA do seem to see the need to let higher league placed teams have an example. might be well off here.

Would the simplified wording for that not have been, beat Pana and we're guaranteed Europa group stages. Didn't need the lose the next round bit ?.

Yes that's correct Orange. I think the different treatment is due to the number of teams in champions path being much more. I think there are 10 teams in final stage of champions path V only 4 in league path. We'd be 1 of only 2 teams in Europe to get in CL through this path. That's what happens when the big leagues take so many spots.

Must have picked u up wrong then fork. I thought you had said if we lose to servette/ pilzen then we go into playoff for europa league group phase? But that's not the case, it says if we lose that game we go straight into group stages of europa. Apologies though if I have read you wrong.

In that case, it's as I originally thought.
Big match tomorrow as getting through means we can allow for Europa League income from final whistle when planning how much money we can spend.

OT tbf that's what confuses me also, my thoughts differ, if we get to CL playoff then Europa is the minimum, lose to servette/ plzen then the way I see it is a playoff for Europa, win were in, lose it's Conference.
I may be totally wrong but that's how I understand the path. Its an absolute minefield ?.
