I posted earlier about the slight disappointment at only 20 million investment for playing squad. Just for the record. I am delighted new owners are in, fresh ideas and by the looks of it competent business men. Unlike the previous charlatans. The reason I am disappointed is if the reports are true and it is 20 million then how are we supposed to close he gap.
I get better recruitment, find hidden gems blah blah blah. If our arch rivals are going out and spending 30-40 million in the next window, which they might. We need to be matching that at least or are we going to be getting all the Leeds prospects which will be good if the players are good.
I suppose no one knows if it will be 20 million, the Print media certainly print anything anyways. I would have thought a big window with 40 million would be the starting point. Not many of our players have high sell on Values currently apart maybe get between 8-10 million for Raskin, the rest are 2s and 3s being realistic. Anyways let's see when the manager comes in and what happens from there. I am taking media stories with a pinch of salt because the 49ers taking over the club then putting in a 20 for new players makes no sense.

With financial fair play its impossible for us to match them spending. Simple as that.
31 May 2025 07:26:19
I thought the 20m was to clear the debt and add some capital to start moving forward. They never said it was our transfer kitty.

Raskin 8-10m? give yourself a break man, Diomande sells for that, much is Igamane worth 2-3m?
31 May 2025 07:35:49
Paul you are correct but some fans think we can just throw money at it like confetti.
31 May 2025 07:42:36
I've heard they are going to spend 10 million each on players like idah and engles then it may not be as hard to close the gap as you would think. Engles will probably turn out to be/ is decent a player but not out of Raskin or diomandes league who combined cost half of what he did. A lot of their players who i would consider to be their best players over the last few seasons are players who would have been well within our price range. Just need to get the recruitment right.

FFP - simple as that.

Guys, Everyone give a big Phew! it's done. The club is now in very safe hands and with AC and PM leading us we can only go one way UP.
Very astute business men who know how to make money.
Some are baulking at the £20m figure WHY. FFP dictates what we are allowed. This again is not a one season quick fix and we are there.
These guys know how to make money. If say Red Bull come on board later down the line along with a few more well known brands that investment can be used for playing as well as infrastructure.
The old board were just robbing Peter to pay Paul and going round in circles down a vortex.
These guys have been watching us for the past year getting to know what they are buying into. They obviously like what they saw and heard and we are now on our way to a bigger and brighter future.
I'd put money on in the future these guys will get a better deal for TV than the current incumbents.
As a youngster in the 60's we lived alongside and American AFB and we would go and watch a baseball came. Tell you what they sure know how to put on the razamataz. All I am saying is the sky is the limit now, we are a club with a world wide fan base which will only increase. Nuff said.

Jim, prepare yourself for a summer of disappointment.
31 May 2025 08:23:04
You really thought they would come in and spend 40 million in a transfer window i really doubt they'll spend the 20 cause cash flow needs sorted and ffp is an issue.
31 May 2025 08:44:18
Agree Paul. It's going to take getting ridiculously cheap players who are really good and/ or time for us to bridge the gap.
31 May 2025 08:56:15
When we are taking more points off them than they took off us then it's not required to spend 30 million. A change in application of the current squad along with the identified additions should be suffice to mount a serious challenge. They will lose players in the summer too and there is no guarantee they will be the same team next year.
31 May 2025 09:15:56
Dont know how many times its mentioned on here, until we raise our revenue stream we cannot invest more or fall foul of FFP and end up with sanctions against us. we were close to that happening before and just managed to reduce our outgoings.
it will take time, increase revenue stream first.
31 May 2025 09:44:10
Raskin 8m? Are you a Celtic fan?
31 May 2025 09:54:24
Aye as Paul says we can't. But with strategic selling of players and a good scouting system we may get there. I've been critical of posters wanting 20 million for players but 2-3 m for the others, cmon. We need to stop paying for overinflated players in the British market at a mature age. Also the old firm games finished 2 wins, 2 defeats and 1 draw. 30-40 million to beat the rest again cmon. ?.
31 May 2025 10:01:50
Sure money will buy you a certain class of player but not a really top player who will not want to play in the backwater of the SPL. They have spent 20 million on Idah and Engels and I wouldn't have either in a Rangers team. It's all about identifying young hungry guys like Raskin who can adapt to the speed and physicality of the game up here.

I read the announcement different. How I took it was, took control with 51% ownership and will increase that stake with a further £20M investment in the summer via a share issue.
I didn't take it, that it had anything to do with transfers.
I think the club will be leveraging everything they have at their disposal, including information re on players they have acquired at Leeds United to enable us to challenge next year.
31 May 2025 09:48:53
Jim - is that the charlatans that saved the club from going under and continually kept it afloat?
Your disrespect is as ill-informed as it is pitiful. They took us as far as they could and it was time for a change, but charlatans they weren't.
Re the transfer window - why not judge it when it closes, rather than days before it opens!
31 May 2025 09:52:49
Firstly, I'm over the moon at the successful takeover. But not exactly over the moon at 20 million. Liverpool scooped up 10 million to permit TA Arnold to leave a month early. So a wee bit underwhelmed with 20 million. But I'm excited for our impending announcement and journey.

It's just an initial investment to get club up n running again, you guys do know what initially means, for those who don't it means the first investment, which means there are more investments coming as time goes on, from here on in we're only going to grow stronger so enjoy the ride we're in good hands now.
