Mystar, a lot of the talk is of getting a proper goalscorer, fair enough, can't argue with that. However, for me a full rejig ofour defence has been needed for a while to take us up a notch, especially in Europe.

Anyone who thinks Tav needs replaces is absolutely deluded. If he was as good at defending as he is going forward he'd be at Real Madrid. He's a good defender and an incredible attacker. We are lucky to have him. Ricksen was overrated, often a liability, and wasn't in the same league and he's also better than Hutton was.

We`ll be looking for a new left back to replace Barisic ( probably Jefte) and left sided centre back to replace Davies who I think we will look to offload . That may mean an extra year for Balogun as cover depending on his fitness. Although he can play alongside Goldson, Souttar should be his long term replacement in the right centre back position. No way we will be looking for a right back to replace Tav especially with Sterling already at the club.

Davidb I have to disagree with you 100% just because we have the best defence in the league at the moment doesn’t mean we shouldn’t want better. For me that’s standing still and a problem we had after 55 and what Celtic have just now. Even if we win the league we still need better players to move the team forward. You need to keep striving for better. Have we got the best defence in europa league? I agree with you bar. We need atleast 2 CHs souttar is ok need better balogun needs replaced Davies we can do better and Goldson is not improving anymore IMO he has lost at least a yard of pace and we need better so that’s now 3 ?♂️ I think we can get another year or two out of Goldson.
We will need another left back as Borna should be away in the summer he should not get a new deal.

yes we have the best defence in the country but look at who we are playing no one apart from the mob that has beaten us twice already tav goldson and boma have to be replaced if we want to progress in europe and beat pacific shelf, the goals we have lost this season has been down to the usual suspects.

Ricksen as a right back was actually pretty poor. He got absolutely slated in his first season, couldn’t defend at all and was rightly subbed after about 25mins of his first old firm as Bobby Petta was ripping him to pieces and he was very close to being sent off. Luckily we found a new pos For him as a central mid where he excelled and got voted player of the year.
As a right back Tav is light years ahead of him. Hutton was decent but for all he was thought of as an ‘attacking fullback’ in his days his numbers were minuscule compared to Tav. It’s always the same, folk have the habit of looking back on players of the past with partially selective memories. 100% a few years after Tav has left he’ll be thought of by most as a legend (and probably rightly so).

Hutton and Ricksen got a lot of stick to be fair, Ricksen never got going fully in a Rangers shirt until he moved into midfield, took Hutton a few years to develop into a marauding fullback as well.

well we aren't going to spend millions on a defence when they are betting the teams we play week in week out. Rangers just won't go out and pay 10 M for a defender just so we might do well in EU. sorry it doesn't work like that. we buy players who will do well in scotland and might make some money should we sell on.

Saw online that we've scored 1,000 goals since Tav joined the club. He's been involved in >240 of those (scored and assists) . That's a frankly ridiculous number for anyone in anY position. Yet he still gets stick, I think I large part because he's been the captain at one of the toughest points in our history. Realistically we've only been back really competing for the title at a resource level for 2/ 3 Seasons. Anyone that wants him out is nuts.
