Hullo fellow bears, long time viewer but first time poster. As we have officially hit the lowest point we can literally get to i thought i would chime in with what I've been hearing. Fergie to Rangers will be on the cards after the Raskin deal is done. This to me is the most obvious signing Mcinnes can make right now to start building his core for years to come. We are and have been screaming out for a commanding centre mid that drives standards.
Is it the only position and player required NO, however imo it would be a pivotal transfer to not only save Mcinnes job but for the future of this team. Not everyone is a fan of Fergie and i get that but logically it would be the perfect fit and potentially the catalyst we need right now. Thanks bears back to being a viewer now lol

Crazy that we've signed 4CMs since January on top of what we had, but are still crying out for a CM.
29 Aug 2026 08:37:55
Kaiser, it's because we signed the same guy 4 times!
29 Aug 2026 08:40:46
Ferguson is a good player, not a magician. 1 player doesn't make a team. It's going to take time.
29 Aug 2026 08:52:54
Lewis Ferguson isn't anywhere near as gd as people think, a lot of Scottish players look great in good teams, current Scotland team is full of them but are shown up at the World Cup. Cerny. If he wanted to be here, he would be already. Time to move on from these players.
29 Aug 2026 08:59:02
I suppose Lewis Ferguson doesn't exactly need to be the best, he is a fan and will try to get everyone into the right mindframe that you should have as a Rangers player! At least I'd like to think so. Current players are failing at that.
29 Aug 2026 09:06:55
I have not really contributed to the Ferguson chat, but I think he could be a game changer for our team. It is a bit down to his drive and desire, more than anything else. I think exactly what we miss when Raskin is not in the team is what he will bring in spades.
I would also install him as captain on day one and bin this Shankalnd/Neil thing.
We have signed a lot of players this window, but if we get Ferguson, he would not just give the midfield an anchor, but the full team. I genuinely believe it could be our most important signing in a number of years.
29 Aug 2026 09:08:37
I agree, mate, he has the right mentality and could be our Scott Brown as I feel he is as limited as Sb was but was a great leader of men as Lf would be at our club, but the price spoken about is just crazy and we could get two better players for the same money.
29 Aug 2026 09:12:39
I personally think Raskin is a better player than Ferguson, although he has been very inconsistent for us, so I wouldn't mind if we had him instead, plus he would actually want to be here.
29 Aug 2026 09:14:27
I don't know if he's the answer, but even in that poor Scotland side Broad he was the one midfielder who got any credit for what he did.
The captaincy thing is bizarre though and what effect would stripping it off Shankland and Neil have on the team? It's a strange one.
29 Aug 2026 09:19:37
I get the Brown comparison and the comments about 'better' players. I think the team Brown played in probably had these so called better players too, but I know who would have been first name on the team sheet for them. Much in the same way Ferguson would be for us.
29 Aug 2026 09:20:48
Don't get me wrong, Kaiser, I would swap him for Raskin even a straight swap, as Lewis would be a far more effective player for us and like u said he would want to be here.
My only concern with Lewis is the price tag. He did play well in the WC, but not 13-17 mil gd. Despite what some think, I see Raskin in the 8-10 mil range.
29 Aug 2026 09:22:49
As much as I don't think he will be signing, it would make great sense, as he would be a starter week in week out, he would be made captain, and as a Rangers lad, I think, because he would hammer home standards better than Shanks etc, because not only is he a fan but has family members who have all played for us too.
He is usually vocal on the park too, so I'd hope we could get him, but we won't.
29 Aug 2026 09:24:27
This is about pride, passion, perseverance and 💯 about running through brick walls for the Rangers jersey.
Aasgaard phony
Miovski phony
Barron phony
Gassama phony
Cameron phony
Sterling phony
Fernandes phony
Chuckwani phony
We cannot win with these players in our dressing room. They pick up a wage and they simply don't care. Rip up their contracts and boot them out the door.
I would rather see our young players given the jersey than endure these want aways being given anymore time on the pitch. There is clearly a toxic attitude in our camp which needs addressed urgently. I 💯 back Derek McInnes, I wanted him in years ago, I'm glad he's here now. I believe he will bring trophies and pride back to the famous Glasgow Rangers.
29 Aug 2026 09:28:29
There's not much chance now, no euro money, big hit £100.000 fine off SFA, stadium bans, a financial hit. Can't see any more signings now.
29 Aug 2026 10:04:19
For those saying Ferguson isn't good. Are u the same who said Devlin wasn't good then wanted him as captain?
Are y the same who said Penrice wasn't good enough then raved how good he is after one game?
Or maybe the same who want rid of Dessers for being crap then want him back?
Fergie would be the best player at the club instantly og he signs.
29 Aug 2026 10:14:51
Grant Raskin is a good midfielder and I rate him, but for me Lewis Ferguson would be a better player for Rangers at this moment in time. Think what I mean by this. 🤔 🇬🇧 I would have Lewis Ferguson in my Rangers midfield every time before Nico Raskin. 🤔
29 Aug 2026 10:59:50
Lewis Ferguson is the type of player we need. Fights for everything, can contribute goals from midfield, never gives up, vocal on the pitch, loves Rangers. I'd keep Raskin, but he wants away, so good luck to him.
It's probably unlikely that we can get Lewis, but if there is any way that we can get him, even last minute in the window, that would genuinely be the kind of signing that we need to rebuild properly.
We need to upgrade most of the squad, but it would be a start. Time for the broom, not just across the squad but other backroom areas - recruitment for starters.

Fantasy booking Ferguson again. Seeing the same statements that got branded about for Shankland, McCrorie & even Devlin about standards, about running through brick walls, about desire & passion, they get it, & guess what, it's changed nothing. Now you want us to blow £17 million minimum on just that, again if he's as good as everyone makes him out to be then we wouldn't be in the conversation, & btw, he was as poor as anyone else at the World Cup, played the simplest & easiest passes.
It's been said on here whether it's true or not that it would take a life changing offer to make Ferguson come, & he's already on £40k a week, I believe, so we'd be throwing the wages out the window again too then.
29 Aug 2026 11:41:34
You are probably right about the likelihood of getting him, DJB_Ranger, but I've got a different view about Ferguson.
You don't get voted the best midfielder in Italy if you aren't a good player. Even if he makes simple passes, he does it successfully, which is a heck of a lot better than what's going on with our current midfield. That was the job he was given in the WC.
In Serie A, he has been more of an 8, box-to-box, or indeed a 10, where he has proven himself in those positions.
The difference from Shankland and others is that he is a proven winner, having led Bologna to a historic Coppa Italia victory in May 2025.
I don't think we will get him, but dreaming is better than reality at the moment.
29 Aug 2026 12:55:41
Ferguson is not what we need. We have 4 of him already.
People being clouded by his family.
We need creativity.
We are a pub team.
29 Aug 2026 13:00:55
Blue Yonder, I think you're out of order calling Barron a phony. He has never given anything less than 100% in a Rangers jersey, even on Thursday night after McInnes has treated him like crap since he arrived.
As for Ferguson being signed to drive the midfield and set standards, I thought this is why we signed Devlin.
29 Aug 2026 13:15:08
I don't think Callum McGregor is that good. Keeps captaining trophy lifts over and over though? Who's wrong?
I would have Ferguson in there as a solid foundation and fill the gaps around him for the foreseeable future.
He strikes me as the type required, a Barry Ferguson/Scott Brown/McGregor type.
Leader.
