Credible Centre backs names?

Not just to the ITK posters we usually rely on but to everyone, has anyone had any wee rumours they haven't shared?

Think & hopeful mean the same thing in the context of what he said. Who is to say there won't be an announcement today, or even in the run up to tomorrow's game against West Ham. We just need to be patient, mate. It's possible that he thought Diawara was going to be signing before getting gazumped by Milan at the last minute.

Stevie G, the 2 right winger names that keep coming up just now are Cerny and Cozier-Duberry mate 🤔 I'm still told McInnes has an interest in former Hibs centre half Ryan Porteous, who as you know is currently plying his trade over in the American MLS. 🤔

That's one of the things that concerns me, mate. Apart from Dahl, we're barely even being linked with any players for all those positions let alone being close to signing any.

Sir Walter, I really hope we do sign Porteous, I think he'd be a great option for us in defence.
Also, as for links to players, it seems we are a lot better at keeping things in house these days, so probably a ton going on in the background.
I wish, though, we could hurry up and get guys out the door also.

I know Fork, though most we've signed were spoken about before. There's nothing we seem close to. We're not even getting any ridiculous rumours or names getting thrown about to waste our time watching YouTube clips of.
Just scrolled through all 5 pages and the only names mentioned have been Amario, Odispo, Fosso and Overy. So, if nothing else, thanks, StevieG, for trying to get some rumours going.

I must be the only one who likes the fact there isn't anything coming out. I don't think it means that we aren't talking, just that we are keeping things tight.
I like the scarf above head announcements without knowing previously who has been signed as it brings a bit of excitement. A bit like a kid at Christmas again.
I would far rather that than the continuous questions on JHD and whether another club have bid 4p more than us, and we will now lose him unless we pay £3M more.
Look, even now McInnes said he thinks or is hopeful we will have 2 more and this has now been translated to we will have 2 in. Better to say nothing, imo.
As I say, just me, but I do actually enjoy the silence on it.

I keep hearing French League 1 winger, but no name. Also heard we are actively tracking 2 centre halves, one in Holland and one in Switzerland. I don't get names very often unless they are from the Dutch/German leagues, but hear snippets through my father-in-law from over there.
Windell/ Ospirio / Billy Van Duij are the Dutch league centre halves I keep hearing we have looked at, however only serious interest in one, I'm led to believe.
The latter 2 are both left footers, which makes me lean toward them more, but it's a guessing game at this point. The club don't let much out.

Club are continuing to monitor a number of players with Scandinavian roots, as you would expect with Stig in place, for instance, Oppegard at LB, Sloglund at RB, Widell at CB and Fallenius as a winger.
Additionally, we remain extremely interested in Ashia from Huddersfield, who is seen as someone who can play centrally but is equally as comfortable out wide, similar to how we used to use Aribo and how many have been discussing using Thelo - although he's much more mobile than Thelo. A role that McInnes used Spittal for a lot last season.
Over in the Balkans we continue to be active and are keeping close tabs on Ugresic as a creative Mid and Owusu as a winger.
Closer to home, we are still in dialogue with Milne and someone from Dundee United (I haven't worked that one out yet).
I haven't heard any names yet, but I know we have been speaking to 2 players from the Swiss league as well as 2 from the Portuguese league, one I assume to be Assis.
As mentioned previously, at this stage we will be in continued dialogue with a lot of players.
And, let me get my helmet on for this one, I hear we are already in discussion with 4 players with a view to coming in on loan if our permanent moves don't happen - 3 of the 4 are based in England.
Oh, and apparently we're interested in a lad called Dahl.

Ehl, I mentioned a few months ago we were watching the young attacking midfielder/ winger and centre half from Luzern, so that could be your Swiss league players. However, the centre half I've heard of from there is apparently more mature.

I'd be happy if we targeted Porteous for CB. Yes, we all hated him for Hibs, but he is a big brave defender. You always need a type like that in your team. His main fault, for me, is he can be rash and go wild into tackles. But I think he would do us a good job more often than he would let us down.
I think he fits the profile of the type of player we are after, and need. It reminds me a bit of the Scott Brown scenario. We all hated him, but we would have loved him if he was in our team.

Reid, only hearing we have pretty active interest in a number of players.
The issue we have is that a lot of buying clubs are in a similar position to us, i.e., will look to make a move once they sell players they are looking to move on.
I think there are 5 or 6 who have agreed moves in principle, it's just a case of waiting for the dominoes to fall.

It's interesting you saying some players pulled out when Rohl left, John. I was reading an article yesterday and it said Rohl planned on bringing Shankland to Rangers too. Rohl and Shankland had a 20 minute conversation on the phone. Rohl told him he was a player he wanted at Ibrox, then advised the board to sign him.
Rohl said Shankland would have been rotated with Chermiti and Naderi. That playing domestically is much different than playing in Europe. It seems Rohl wanted Shankland for domestic football, and intended to use the others in Europe.
Rohl was very much building for next season.

Shankland signed before Rohl left. He was always leaving with all his management team. This was known in April. Why did Cavanagh Gillespie I'd the replacement before the split if he was staying?

Only one from Dundee United would be Ferry to fill the gap we have at left back. Fatah isn't a Dundee United player, so while we may have interest in him, he wouldn't be described as a player of interest from Dundee United.
Can't believe there is so much support for signing Porteous. Imagine going into Of games with him and Devlin in the team, we would be down to 9 men by half time.

How about if some come on to read Rangers Banter, debates and discussions, but whilst we are here we read Rumours as well. On the first 3, there are rumours as well, so it isn't as if we have a choice to not read them, as they are on all the pages.
I have no issue with others writing them, and everyone liking and believing them, but the cynic in me and my more intelligent side tells me that the number of people claiming to have a rumour which makes them itk would mean that the club has a structure which leaks like a colander.
So I choose to not believe any.
So no need to get upset about it. My believing or not surely doesn't upset anyone that much. If it does, then you need to get out more, is all I will say.
One thing is true, that at least Stevie starting this has brought a lot of new information, and it isn't all about some lad called Dahl. 🤷

Some, like me, love the speculation side and names getting chucked about, even if I don't believe half of it, and u like the surprise of not knowing anything, which is cool. Think, as John and StevieG said, it's ones that try to put people off posting rumours on a rumours site, which is nuts.
At least u bring much more to the site than ones like that. As u say too, StevieG got some new names going rather than same boring name getting repeated.
