Anyone news on outgoings gents?
Imagine Raskin will be first out the door but judging by our recruitment I assume the likes of dio, Aasgaard etc. won't be far behind. Wonder if this is what is slowing progress on incoming transfers?!

17 Jul 2026 08:34:56
I think we need to remember that there are 48 days left in the transfer window and not every club is as desperate to complete deals.

17 Jul 2026 08:47:24
I'd imagine Barron and Diomande may be sooner than Raskin, mate.

17 Jul 2026 08:55:30
EHL, do you think we have enough defensively with who is here just now to get by until the end of window when we are more likely to see more moves?

17 Jul 2026 09:06:50
I think Aasgaard will be staying at Rangers with Dio, Barron, Raskin and Bajrami moving on. Aasgaard cut his time off short and returned to Rangers early to get crackin.

17 Jul 2026 09:24:08
Goram, we're definitely light across the backside, which will be a concern going into the first competitive games.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Fernandez or Sterling, so hope there are reinforcements in the pipeline.

17 Jul 2026 09:35:07
Thanks Ehl, I was thinking along similar lines.

I don't think Fernandez is overly helped by being played slightly out of position, as I'm sure he's naturally an RCB, however, has been played almost exclusively on the left side.

17 Jul 2026 09:39:58
Interesting, EHL.

I've always wondered what the big hoo haw was about Fernadez. I didn't think he did anything out of the ordinary.

What's your views on them as players?

I do like Sterling as a player, injuries aside.

17 Jul 2026 09:41:02
Fernandez needs a lot of improvement at the back. Godfrey I cannot comment on. But, feel we need a proper solid CB.

17 Jul 2026 09:44:11
Fernandez is a top player still raw but all the tools to be immense. 🇬🇧

Back line is currently the weakest part of our squad. Only 1 Lb, Souttar on the way out, only leaves 2 cb worth counting, Sterling and McRorrie for RB. Backline needs at least 3 new players of a good level. Godfrey is a risk due to previous form and injury. Sterling should probably be shown the door to.

17 Jul 2026 09:53:49
Superally, agree has the attributes. But this season would love to see him moving the ball quick rather than slow play down and hold on to ball as long as possible. And when he loses the ball on the opposition box, he needs to burst a gut to get back into position, not canter back.

17 Jul 2026 09:56:24
Gazza, I find Fernandez really frustrating as he constantly slows the game down when in possession and his positional sense at times was shocking.

In terms of Sterling, I always found him hard working but extremely limited technically. I also found him rather unpleasant.

17 Jul 2026 10:01:16
I may be proven wrong but I feel Manny has peaked and we should cash in now while his stock is high, subject to suitable replacements etc.

17 Jul 2026 10:13:44
Agree, Ehl, big Manny too slow on the ball, allowing the other team to get in shape. Think if he hadn't scored a few then we be looking at him differently, as his defending isn't the best. 🤔 Like Sterling when he's on it, but unfortunately he's made of glass and out more than he's in. 🇬🇧

17 Jul 2026 10:32:21
Fernandez will only improve, he has the potential to be a top class cb.

17 Jul 2026 10:33:34
I think there are some selective memories on here again.

If Manny was the player some describe he should be, he just wouldn't have been @ Pompey, or indeed come to us.

17 Jul 2026 10:39:01
GDog, I can only wonder why it's only top level clubs interested in Fernandez. He has the potential for being a top class cb.

17 Jul 2026 10:42:02
Wonder why Vardy was playing at a lower level than Fernandez when younger than him, GDog, playing for Peterborough means nothing, but did put a smile on my face reading that.

17 Jul 2026 10:46:10
Sterling had that 1 decent period under Clement where he was filling in positions all over the place, has never been able to hold down a position since then largely due to injury and not being able to get to 100%.

If we can get any sort of fee for him, would be a bonus.
The figures being mentioned for Fernandez were mental. Would be very surprised if we were to get anywhere near what was being quoted if we do decide to sell!

17 Jul 2026 10:46:50
He is vastly overrated by our fans, imo. Fernandez, he can improve tho.

17 Jul 2026 10:59:00
Storm, although I very much agree.

We should be talking our players up. It only helps to sell them on.

17 Jul 2026 11:01:25
Interesting about Sterling as his mannerisms always gave me the impression that he wasn't very approachable. I don't see him play with a smile.

17 Jul 2026 11:02:50
On Aasgaard, as much as I thought he was not a good fit last season, when you think about it he didn't really have a preseason, joined later, and then got injured, so was well behind the rest. Also, some players need a season to adjust, if we get a good offer I'd sell, but also would not be too worried if he had to stay either and see what Derek can do with him.

What Storm said about bigging up players also applies to Rohl as manager for me, as he got humbled in Europe and acrapped a lot of games and fell apart at end of season, then we got the whole Tav thing.

17 Jul 2026 11:08:03
I don't think the transfer market is impacted by fan opinion on the information super highway.

17 Jul 2026 11:14:53
Got to agree with that EHL, we need reinforcements at the back and it's a worry currently.

Also agree on the players you mention.

Sterling - a good squad player, good stamina, plays with desire etc, but looked really minutes when he has played in midfield. I think he is good at RB but unfortunately injuries have meant we can't rely on him.

Fernandez is certainly a decent player, and good in the air both at the back and at corners. But I don't think he is worth what's being quoted on here. If we get a silly offer, I would sell probably.

17 Jul 2026 11:36:05
So the question is then, why haven't we made strengthening the defence the priority. Midfield is getting all the attention still, where we have decent numbers and the quality is better than what we have at the back.

17 Jul 2026 12:12:24
Manny is a cracking big player and will only improve.

His skill set and attributes are why the bigger clubs are looking at him.

He has some faults but he's what? 24 or something? He's got 6 years before he peaks.

He'll be a top top talent in the game.

17 Jul 2026 12:49:30
I guess it depends on your definition of a top talent within the game, however, I seriously doubt Fernandez will become one of the top centre halves in football. He's already miles behind a huge number of much younger centre halves who are already playing at much higher level.

17 Jul 2026 13:18:19
I have yet to see Sterling play a bad game individually. Just because he doesn't smile doesn't mean he's pish. Been plenty of other Rangers players looked huffy. If Sterling could sort out his injuries, then he'd be one of the first starters for me.

17 Jul 2026 13:43:39
Think the way we played, looking for man in space, overloads etc, slowed us down at back. Fernandez good in air, turn of pace etc, and I think the ball will move faster from back to wide men a lot quicker under DM.

17 Jul 2026 13:48:10
I won't change any minds on Manny, but my opinion is "when he is slowing the play down," he is drawing in an attacker to play through the lines.

Playing into the lines with no press results in a midfield with nowhere to go but back.

I like he puts his foot on the ball. Too much kick and rush in the SPL.

I guess it was the same people poo pooing boys like Malik Tillman and Charlie Adam. They just want guys to run about and blooter people.

17 Jul 2026 14:00:42
Fair play EHL, it's all about opinions, mate.

My definition of a top talent is, say, Bassey who was written off by many on here. I said he should be a centre back before he played centre back for the first time. He had all the attributes to be one of the best in Europe, I said, and was scoffed at.

I think he is one of the best in England right now, he needs a transfer away from Fulham by next summer to really kick on and fulfil his full potential and become one of the best around.

So I see Fernandez in the same light. He can either go to Germany, which I think would be the right move for him next summer and really learn his trade from a different perspective and then come back to England. London is his home city, so any one of the teams from there, and I think he could play for Spurs or Arsenal or Chelsea.

I think at that stage he'd show himself to be one of the top cb's around.

You're forever telling us, mate, players mature and excel at different ages.

17 Jul 2026 14:40:04
Borna ger Sterling had an absolute howler yesterday. Then done a tav, raised his hands trying to blame someone else.

17 Jul 2026 15:08:17
Off the top of my head - Saliba, Bastoni, Gvardiol, Van de Ven, Pacho, Hincapie are all already playing at a much higher level and are either the same age or a year or two younger.

Likewise, Cubarsi, Huijsen and Vuskovic again are already miles ahead of him, and they're 5 or 6 years on him.

From where he currently is as a player, it'll take a miracle for Fernandez to develop into one of the top talents in football.

17 Jul 2026 15:25:12
Fair enough EHL.

Btw I don't disagree with u in any of those players.

Also, to be a top talent, as I've called it, in Europe or the world, it's not about top 10, u could be top 30/40 and still be a top talent.

17 Jul 2026 23:50:39
Ehl, do you really think that?

Was it not really said that Gio appointment was made more off back of what fans wanted?

I'm pretty sure directors and people working at club have ears, and hear the opinions of Rangers fans.
