Naismith said Rangers weren't Rangers, they were Sevco. Even so, people wanted him brought to Rangers as a coach. In fact, one guy on this page said anyone who had an objection to what Naismith said had a low IQ.
So, Porteous can say whatever he likes about our club, basically. It shouldn't be used against him. Why? You can't have a double standard.

Thanks for the info, imo, he would be a downgrade on Souttar if he goes. Putting aside his previous comments made about us, he is just not good enough.

RohlWithCheese, exactly right. I've made my feelings clear on Naismith, and I certainly did object to the narrative during that press conference. I've a very high IQ and a member of Mensa, so I guess that boots that notion into touch.
On Porteous, I've been clear on this way back years ago when the rumours started. No, no, no, I don't want anybody like that pulling on the blue jersey.

Maybe we should have a closer look at that Naismith thread. See who wanted Naismith here, and who didn't. Then compare that to the Porteous thread. That would tell us a lot.

No problem with Naismith coming back, poor comment in past which I hope he would regret. No to Porteous only based on I don't think he is good enough. Rash words or whatever when he was younger. Don't care. We all make mistakes. Say things we regret. With hindsight and maturity you would hope we would all learn.

If we are signing either Porteous or McKenna, we would be as well to keep Souttar. They are all on the same level, ability wise, and at least Souttar's leanings are towards Rangers, although I would have no problem signing somebody who isn't if they were any good.

Naismith said Rangers died and became Sevco, and people want him employed.
So maybe Porteous was just a young guy when he made his remarks. Probably regrets and feels sorry about it all now. So that shouldn't be a barrier to bringing him to the club. So let's not hear anything about that again.

Portues is actually a very good defender and a step up on Souttar by far.
I've said for years he'd be great for us.

Dear Stevie. First thing is, to turn round and say that people don't have a clue I'd utter rubbish. I can assure you I do have a clue. This difference is the same as Albertz, whose view is ok as it's his view.
I feel we just have a different standard, that I would want for my Rangers team. Going into the season with Porteous and McKenna, in my opinion, will not win us the league.

Porteus is nowhere near what we need at Rangers. McKenna is even worse. Would rather have a youth player on the bench than any of the 2 of them.

Bios tea if u think porteous isn't a good centre back then u don't have a clue about centre backs and maybe football, he's a very good centre back probably the best in the mls right now and he soul possibly start for us between he and Godfrey, also he'd be a replacement for manny and he'd start and he'd do a great job

GDog, you're not living in the real world. We're not able to sign that calibre of player any longer - your first grouping would command transfer fees of £30 m+ each.
£5-£7 m is a big fee for us now. We've spent in the region of £4m to date this window, and it looks now as if we have to see Raskin before we can get Dahl in.
