Rangers have an opening bid of €6m Rejected for Cerny

10 Jul 2026 16:41:34
Interesting one - thanks for info.

10 Jul 2026 16:42:31
Glad we want him, always had a sneaky feeling we would go for him due to not being linked with any other RWs.

10 Jul 2026 16:45:51
Wow if true Ayrshire.

10 Jul 2026 16:51:29
Seen that on X, some Turkish site reportage it, not sure of validity.

10 Jul 2026 17:07:44
Read on X that the Daily Record were reporting. A EUR6m bid apparently rejected.

10 Jul 2026 17:09:06
Never seen one Turkish site come up with the truth yet!

10 Jul 2026 17:18:13
I'd be happy to see him back. But £6m seems a lot to me. We've been linked with a lot of big money moves. Presume there's some high value outgoings imminent?

10 Jul 2026 17:19:01
No, we're talking. A player that will come in and give us serious numbers.

10 Jul 2026 17:32:18
Yo Jimbo, 6 mill is nothing if he's going to get us 20 goals a season from out wide. Folk wanting to blast 14mill on Ferguson.

10 Jul 2026 17:34:50
Cerny would be fantastic signing, man.

10 Jul 2026 17:53:22
Cerny for 6m all day long.

10 Jul 2026 18:02:42
There must be better talent out there, younger, for that money. I don't see the hype with Cerny. Braga was better, and yous said he wasn't good enough. ?

10 Jul 2026 18:06:18
Irvine, Braga was not a winger. Who else will give us the numbers Cerny did? It would be a no brainer.

10 Jul 2026 18:06:23
Braga is nowhere near Cerny levels.

10 Jul 2026 18:06:28
Cerny was class. Scored loads and assisted. We should have kept him at the time.

10 Jul 2026 18:13:08
Anyone turning their nose up at Cerny needs to really have a think about what level of player they think we can sign this summer ? Need a reality check, he's as good a rw that's in our budget.

10 Jul 2026 18:13:49
The good thing about Cerny is, he knows the league and expectations. He's also capable of scoring and assisting.

It's a no brainer.

Mon hame son.

10 Jul 2026 18:15:27
I've just read that too. Would be a superb signing.

10 Jul 2026 18:19:18
GDog - "Hearts who failed", then what were we then? If Hearts were a failure. ??‍♂️

10 Jul 2026 18:16:01
Braga is a natural winger. He was moved to CF. Do some research. 6+m for a 30 year old is terrible business in terms of finances. Braga nowhere near Cerny? Who just got Player Of The Year? Linked for 10m with Lyon? Cerny didn't even get a game for Besiktas lol.

You lot just live off has beens. i'm sure yous cried for Sima to be signed too, where's he now? Honestly, take off the goggles.

10 Jul 2026 18:23:36
The question I keep asking but no one responds to.
People want Cerny back. Fair enough.
Based on what he did here, or based on his season last year. Numbers/stats, etc.
How was he last year? Is he the player he was? I don't know.
People want him back based on what?

10 Jul 2026 18:29:03
Exactly, Pieter. They want him signed cause he soaked a few Celtic fans. Staunch. But don't want the POTY in Braga cause 7/8m was too dear. But 6+ for a one season, 30 year old is amazing business. Apparently.

10 Jul 2026 18:35:06
Cerny is 28.

10 Jul 2026 18:36:46
Well, Cerny is 28 so you may need some research yourself. Yes, Braga can play wide, but his 1st good season and he's playing as a striker or behind the striker. He's in no way a wide player.

10 Jul 2026 18:40:07
As far as I can remember Cerny came in cold, with no pre season behind him from the previous summer. He was exceptional as a one on one finisher and had good character. If fit, he would be a fantastic signing and the quality and calibre of player we should be looking for. I hope this one works out.

10 Jul 2026 18:42:35
Huistra, 5 goals and 7 assists in 30 games last season. Irvine, 30 games last season, started 25 for Besiktas. Again, you may need to research. ?

10 Jul 2026 18:45:41
Braga is going to be 27 in October, and he's going to cost 10m+ after and a nightmare to get with the amount of players/staff we have taken off Hearts.
Cerny is 28. ?? I don't want him cause he soaked Celtic fans. I want him cause he's one of the only good RWs we have had in 15 years.

He got 20 odd goals last time he was here, and I don't care if he had an average season in Turkey, where loads of good players struggle.
Where was Braga playing up until we was 26 btw? Cerny has played for Ajax, played in the Bundesliga, and is a Czech international.
Go have a lie down, Irvine.

10 Jul 2026 18:47:19
Foolmonty, I smell a lad that bounces on cucumber with that name. Ok, so we bid 7m for a guy who has been a bench warmer and critiqued by the league's media, he's the one.

But we'll leave the boy who's POTY for our league, tore teams apart and is linked with bigger clubs than us for 10m.

Make that make sense. And put that cucumber in my pieces, Monty son.

10 Jul 2026 18:47:36
Cerny got 8 goals and 8 assists last season in a "poor season". ?? I can't believe you want to turn your nose up at him, Irvine. I am in disbelief here.

10 Jul 2026 18:48:28
Irvine, Cerny is 28 more 30, we like adding years on to players, that's twice today posters being 2 year out, Cerny is a player.

10 Jul 2026 18:49:33
He's played the majority of his games as striker and you want to spend 10m to play him in a position that isn't his natural position? ? I'd have no issue with signing Braga as a Chermiti replacement but no way should we sign him to be the RW when we can get a natural RW in Cerny.

10 Jul 2026 18:50:17
Apologies, AyrshireTattooist. I thought he was 30. Still adamant there's far better. Cerny was good but he isn't 6m+ good.

10 Jul 2026 18:50:21
Him helping us winning trophies is what it would be all about signing him, not looking for him making us money. We need good experience players, that is what Cerny is.

10 Jul 2026 18:56:40
I've had a mare. I read he was 30, I read he was massively criticised in the Turkish media and he wasn't getting a game. F*** my life.

Foolmonty, I'll still take that cucumber sanny but.

10 Jul 2026 18:57:56
If 27 g/a in a Rangers top isn't 6m worthy, I want to know what is. We're not going to get a winger that's as good as him, that also won't need a settle period for cheaper than 10m.

10 Jul 2026 19:00:20
Sometimes you need a bit of experience. If we sign Dahl, Diawara and Dragojevic, when we already have Naderi, Rommens, Chermiti, Manny etc as younger boys, an international like Cerny would be most valuable to the squad imo. Cerny is more experienced in the game than any player in our squad, imo.

10 Jul 2026 19:02:07
IrvineBlue, you remember Cerny skooshing Celtic fans and not the 18 goals he scored from the wing that season? He's 28 years old and proven himself playing for Rangers before not very long ago. Rangers will not pay any decent money to other Scottish teams and especially not inflated prices for a guy who had a decent season but ultimately disappeared at the business end of the season.

2 goals in his last 9 games. Wouldn't be surprised if he was still at Hearts come the start of the season instead of sold for silly money.

10 Jul 2026 19:02:44
Regardless of people's personal thoughts, bottom line is this: did Cerny do the job when he was here? Yes, he did, so opinions can be based on that, regardless of what he did at Besiktas. Oh, & for the record, did Sima do the job when he was here? Again, yes, he did, regardless of where he is now, so again opinions are based on what they have already proved they could do in this league.

That's why it makes sense.

10 Jul 2026 19:17:57
Would rather go for the African lad from Motherwell. Could get him a bit cheaper and better age.

10 Jul 2026 19:21:12
How much would it take to bring Daniel Candias back. ?
Sorry, I couldn't resist. I've nothing against bringing Cerny back, but wouldn't break the bank for him.

10 Jul 2026 19:24:44
Been wanting Maswanhise for a while now, Bellshill, but would always prefer Cerny.

10 Jul 2026 19:33:41
Report is a 6 million euros bid, which is £5.1 million, although it's been rejected, we will have to up it a bit. The question is, does he want to come back?

10 Jul 2026 19:37:00
FairPlay Irvine not doubling down. Takes a man to do that. So, well played, mate.

10 Jul 2026 19:37:44
We wouldn't be bidding for him if he wasn't interested, Wslgers.

10 Jul 2026 19:37:57
As much as I want him, I wouldn't pay anymore than $6m for him. That's my top price.

10 Jul 2026 19:49:02
Sorry lads, I got that horrendously wrong. ??‍♂️

10 Jul 2026 19:49:21
Stevie, you make me laugh, mate, you constantly change from $ € £. I always wonder what one we are going to get each time. ?

10 Jul 2026 19:42:41
I read Cerny had retired from international football to concentrate on Besiktas and the Manager wanted to keep him. Was it an old article the Besiktas fans can't get rid of him quick enough! He had had a real good year at us after a ropey start but can anyone genuinely tell me how his form was last season? I have no interest in Turkish football.

10 Jul 2026 19:57:57
If we have even bid for him.

10 Jul 2026 20:02:28
Wishy, sorry bro.

The dollar sign's a wee accident, mate.

I change from euros and pounds on purpose though, so if u see it one or the other it's on purpose, mate. The dollar ? I'm just a tit lol.

So if it's club to club British I'll price in £.
If it doesn't, a euro club buying from us or us selling to euro club I'll price it in pounds.

Something I learned last year, possibly from ehl, all transfers registered with FIFA are registered in euros.
Thats why we see £17.2m for Lewis and it's €20.
The decimals are not all due to exchange rates, mate.

10 Jul 2026 20:03:47
Cerny wouldn't pay more than 6m euros.

How much did he cost them?

If they paid 8m euros a year ago, I'd pay 6 with 1m add in if we win league, or if he scores 15 goals.

10 Jul 2026 20:18:32
I wouldn't pay silly money for Cerny, but 6/7/8 I would go for it.
And good to know, Stevie, ie euros etc, learn something new every day.

10 Jul 2026 20:19:24
Mass, explain Miovski then, based on 2 year previous.

So he could have been away, not scored, played terrible, but we would want them back.
This is exactly my point. No substance to any arguments that is relevant to now.

Is 5 goals, 7 assists in 30 games good? People can make their own minds up.

Blue blinkered glasses.

I can look up the stats, but that wasn't the point of the text. Responses like this were.

10 Jul 2026 20:29:30
8 goals, 8 assists in total for all comps last year.

10 Jul 2026 20:29:43
Sorry, but no. Are we the only club that takes a hit on player fees when a player doesn't work out for whatever reason? He is also older now, so fee should be less.

Would love him back though.

10 Jul 2026 20:53:32
Completely different players to compare but both would be nice!

10 Jul 2026 21:36:23
I would take Cerny in a heartbeat. Always wanted to get on the ball, and make things happen. The money mentioned, 6m euros, is good value for money.
Come back home, Vaclav!

10 Jul 2026 21:41:22
Pieter, it seems his numbers are not quite as good as they were for us. And his market value seems to reflect that. They paid 6m euros (according to Transfermarkt), and technically got him cheap.

There are rules in Turkey about max number of non Turkish nationals, so if they want someone they probably have to sell. I'd be surprised if we are willing to let them make a profit on him.

10 Jul 2026 22:23:32
Didn't Cerny not want to stay at us for some reason?
I genuinely can't remember, but something in the back of my head telling me we could have kept him, but he didn't want to stay.
Also a good chance I have completely made this up.

10 Jul 2026 22:33:28
Clockwork Orange.

Thelwell and Cavenagh mentioned in fan media they weren't willing to pay as it would've cost more than Chermiti's fee and wages combined to get him signed with wages included.

10 Jul 2026 22:40:49
Pieter - Miovski is slightly different. First off, he was at Aberdeen & yes, you're right, he did well there & hasn't done it for us. But both Cerny & Suma did do it for us. Very different playing for us than any other club in Scotland.

No signing is guaranteed to do well, we're a completely different club & set up from others, but as I say Cerny & Sima both proved they can do it & cut it here.

11 Jul 2026 00:55:13
What's the cucumber patter all about, lol? Piss poor.

11 Jul 2026 02:10:00
We have the best defender in Scotland, the best left back, the best striker, Cerny would be the best winger.

We've actually got the 3 best strikers in Scotland.

Dahl would be best cm in Scotland since Gazza.

11 Jul 2026 08:16:29
I absolutely want us to sign Vaclav Cerny for our problem right wing position, and no wonder, with the numbers he's capable of hitting. ? I'd take Cerny over Braga every day of the week, and for me Braga ain't in Cerny's class. ? ??

11 Jul 2026 08:42:03
Comparing Braga who played as part of a front 2 with a RW?? Cerny, 28, 30 caps for Czechia, tore up Eredivisie, went for &8.5m to Bundesliga, smashed it up here, and still 16 goal contributions in Turkey V Braga, who is decent, has had 1 good season in his career, or 2/3 of a season, nowhere to be seen at business end of season, and I'd imagine hasn't had a transfer fee of half of what has been paid for Cerny.

If Rangers get Dahl and Cerny, I would be ecstatic.

11 Jul 2026 09:05:09
Crazy that people on here wouldn't welcome back Cerny. Class player which would 100% succeed here again. Bring him home.

11 Jul 2026 10:09:35
Don't think people are saying they wouldn't want him, just raises other concerns, like them wanting same type of fee that they paid when he's a year older and it didn't work out, plus buying club after a year will struggle to sell.

Cerny about to turn 29, after first season he is 30 and instantly loses any sell on value.

If it was a fee more around the 4 million mark I'd say fair.

We should offer around that as a take it or leave it deal, I think, with his age and fact he was left out the Czech squad, teams will not see it as good business.

Only Rangers who he played well for will go in at that price, I think.

11 Jul 2026 10:11:03
I mean, would any of you expect to get our full fee back on Cifuenntes or Davies or Cortes when they didn't perform, or would you cut losses and move them on and free up wages?

At some point in windows we have to get tougher.

11 Jul 2026 10:18:43
Peterpan, when I'm saying £6m is a lot, I suppose I'm thinking that every single player we're linked with at the moment seems to be costing north of £6m (never mind Ferguson!). And while I can see us spending that on one or two players, I doubt we're going to buy 4 or 5 at that price.
