Any1 heard anything about james penrice according to ewan Cameron he will b a gers player this summer.

19 May 2026 13:48:43
Plenty stories about this.

19 May 2026 14:10:23
My mate knows James Penrice's aunty very well and she told him that Rangers definitely wanted him in January. ? I think if we do as expected sign James Penrice I think it'll be a very good signing for us. ? I wanted Rangers to sign him when he was playing for Livingston let alone Hearts. ? He's a good left back. ? ??

19 May 2026 14:31:33
We need to sign better quality or we regress.

19 May 2026 14:36:14
Penrice will be a great wee player for us.

Similar to Taylor at Celtic for years. Doesn't need to be a big famcy name to be good.

I'd really be happy with him signing to compete with Rommens.

19 May 2026 14:50:17
Stevie, other areas team need addressing. Sign Penrice, don't develop scally.

19 May 2026 15:07:46
Scally is 16, he would get bullied and would also hamper his development, best thing for him, in my opinion, would be to loan him to a League One/Championship side for 6 months and reevaluate in the January window.

19 May 2026 15:18:58
John, Penrice is 27, 28 in December. First team ready now.

Scally turned 16 last month. He is 2/3 years away from the Rangers first team. He needs men's football week in week out and developed properly.

Ie, Curtis and not King.

By that time, you would Rommens would've sold for big money and then Penrice and Scally are your left backs at 30 and 18 year old respectively.

19 May 2026 15:23:32
I think signing someone like Penrice would be a smart piece of business and a positive step in terms of Scally's development pathway.

Over the course of a season, there are typically 80+ appearance opportunities at left back (around 55 starts and 25 substitute appearances). This season, we've actually seen that rise to 88.

To manage that workload effectively, you ideally need a first-choice left back starting 30-40 games, supported by a capable deputy who can start 20-30.

At this stage of his development, it's unrealistic to expect Scally to take on that level of responsibility.

However, being part of an established pairing would still allow him to make 10+ substitute appearances, learn from experienced professionals, and continue developing in the right environment.

Crucially, it also gives him the opportunity to take those learnings back into youth football, building confidence and enhancing his overall performance without overexposing him too early.

19 May 2026 15:27:29
Penrice looks a good option for back up to Rom. As others say a bit early for Scally, though he could still get some games.

19 May 2026 15:30:56
I absolutely think Penrice would be a very good signing for us. ? John, I'm all for developing our youth players, but we need experience players pronto to start winning trophies, mate, and for me at this moment in time signing the likes of Penrice for his experience and for the hear and now is definitely the correct way we need to go at this moment in time.

?

19 May 2026 15:33:20
John Scaly has only just turned 16 a month ago, mate.

He'll be kept here for a year or 2, and then one or 2 loans.

He's very small in height and build, so he's a long, long way to go.

I'd imagine by time an ally is ready to step up, he'll be 19.

19 May 2026 15:34:52
I'd be equally happy with Fraser if the fee is too high for Penrice.

Penrice easily better player though.

19 May 2026 16:09:54
Stevie, I think I know that. For weeks, people have wanted him Glasgow and other too play.
I say too young, I'm told old enough. Good enough.

I just wonder where we r getting the money for 3/4 reserve players.

19 May 2026 16:23:07
Ehl, where r u getting 80+ appearances a season from? We never even played 60 games this season, and that was with qualifers 8 group games and reaching 2 semi finals! So where are these extra 20+ games coming from?

19 May 2026 16:31:55
I'm sure he said capable of starting 20-30 if needed - if Rommens was injured, etc.
Also, could play that amount coming off the bench.
I'm assuming all of those points were what Ehl was getting at.
That's how I read it.

I may be wrong though.

19 May 2026 16:34:48
Rangers have more than just the first team.

19 May 2026 16:41:38
Wee bit of a rude answer there, John. No need for that.

I'm not talking about for weeks now or what others have said n u have said back.

I'm talking about reality.

In terms of fb squad players, all will be funded by the sale of 2-3 "star players".

I'd guess Manny Raskin and Dio.

Throw in all the excess players we'll get fees for, and I'm sure that Ali G, with Cavanagh projected budget, would cover a squad rebuild and leave us a pretty penny.

19 May 2026 16:43:52
Gazza, 80+ appearance opportunities, opportunities being the key point.

Fullbacks are substituted in around 40% of games given the workload and demands of the role.

We played 55 games last season, during which we substituted our LB 23 times (42%).

So we need a depth of squad to ensure we're spreading the workload sufficiently to prevent the levels of fatigue and burnout we've seen this season.

19 May 2026 17:12:05
How is it rude because u don't like my viewpoint?

I watch our youth team most week, u have your opinion, I'll have mine.

So we get rid of our best players and buy poorer, don't see how that wins a league.

19 May 2026 17:42:18
We need a lb signed, I'm chuffed with Penrice challenging Rommens, good move. Imo.

19 May 2026 17:44:10
Rommens is the lb. Rangers are looking for a backup who is willing to sit on the bench. He doesn't need to be a world beater, just a reliable back-up option. If Penrice is cheap enough, and can help us meet the home grown quotas for Europe, then it makes sense.

19 May 2026 17:44:20
Plenty of time to develop Scally. Penrice as back up to Rommens is a no brainer. Rommens will go for big money in a year or two and then Scally should be given a chance.

19 May 2026 17:49:57
It's rude because of the way u wrote it, John, not your opinion, mate.

U said "Stevie, I think I know that," as if to say I'm wrong to have pointed out his physical attributes to you.

That's what I found rude.

I know u go to most youth games, John, that's why I value your opinion on all things Rangers youth so highly.

I'm not being confrontational here. I was just pointing it out.

No worries, we move on. ??

19 May 2026 17:51:11
Just to add, John, your viewpoint seems to be the same as mine, Scally isn't ready. So we agree.

In terms of selling better players and signing lesser ones, who is that referring to?

Penrice is better than Meghoma for me.

19 May 2026 18:11:28
That is not rude, it was a statement of fact. Let's see how this window pans out. We lowered standard last year.

We r
headed for finishing 4-6 if a number of these signings happen.
