Reading all the rumours about Rohl staying or going, either way it's going to cost Cavanagh and the Yanks a few bob this summer. I understand that Gerrard was Cavanagh's first choice last summer, but was overruled by Thelwell, and over the weekend Gerrard at a Liverpool conference in the Middle East, mentioned something happening in the next three weeks.
We'll have to wait and see if that involves us? Hopefully things will be clearer for us fans after next weekend passes.

Scotty, I assume the stuff Gerrard was talking about is that Burnley have opened talks with him, according to Alan Nixon. He's held four meetings with them.
11 May 2026 12:45:11
He's away. ?
11 May 2026 12:48:23
Not sure overruled is the right word. The Sporting Director can't over rule the owner. 'He gave him bad advice' is a better way of putting it.
11 May 2026 12:54:41
Mayo Bear who? ?
11 May 2026 12:55:29
Correct Mayo. ? Steven Gerrard going to be the new Burnley manager. ?
11 May 2026 13:07:31
Hope u have a big bet on it.
11 May 2026 13:11:44
Got to be a leader appointed. Gerrard and Steve Davis next to him for me.
11 May 2026 13:17:13
Rohl away??
11 May 2026 14:08:05
Wasn't it the case that Gerrard turned the job down? Rangers made him the offer and he said no.
11 May 2026 14:12:09
Rangers need a figurehead going forward, we need a spine of a team and a formation and style of play that is second nature, we haven't had any since Gerrard left.
11 May 2026 14:24:06
Sorry, but I can't get excited for all this talk about Gerrard again. Hopefully he'll end up at Burnley and put an end to it. Spent the best part of £90million at Villa and didn't do much there. Think if Rohl was to stay he needs to bring in an experienced no2, maybe Billy Reid. We can't keep chopping and changing managers.
11 May 2026 15:12:57
I would accept Fergie, McCann and even Billy Dodds going 12 rounds with the English language and losing on points. They know the game and they know Scottish players. The club would have spent way less than Martin and Rohl put together and put a side out, fit to win this league, with far less posers and slackers.
11 May 2026 15:13:27
I still back Rohl; he inherited a mess just like Clement, and look how Clement is doing at a stable club in Norwich. We have to let Rohl take it again next year.
Better record than Gerrard in first season with worse squad.
11 May 2026 16:15:30
Not silly season again, stupid season more like.
11 May 2026 16:57:00
Out of curiosity, what's so special about Gerard? Yes, I liked him as a manager, but what else did he do apart from 55 that would warrant giving him another opportunity?
No guarantees it would work second time round, and we all know that many Rangers fans want instant success.
Are those in favour of him willing to give him another 3 years for silverware? If that's the case, why can't Danny or xyz be given the same Grace?
11 May 2026 18:12:53
I'd say the special thing about Gerrard would be he's the only manager since 2011 to win the bloody league for us. No one else. It's amazing how bad of a rep he has amongst our support. We have had every manner of coach/manager since, and no one else has been able to despite chucking millions at it, minus maybe Clement.
11 May 2026 18:24:27
People compare Gerrard first season as Rohl and say he's done as good as. Gerrard had nowhere near the budget of the squad we have now, and Celtic were a far better team when Gerrard was there. Also, Gerrard put us back on the European map and made us hard to beat.
Gerrard will stabilise our squad and attract players more than Rohl will.
Players like definitely he attracted and done a job with us.
In my opinion, there is no comparison between Rohl and Gerrard. The only question is who would be his tactical coach? Would we take Beale back with him?
11 May 2026 18:31:48
Why do so many rangers fans fixate on 3 names for every position that may or may not need filled?
Theres literally hundreds of managers around.
11 May 2026 19:31:30
I just don't get all the clamour to bring Gerrard back by some. Did his stint and jumped ship, albeit because he wasn't going to get the financial backing he wanted to push the team on. There's only a "special" few who are ever successful on returning. We need someone with experience and a style of play for starters.
11 May 2026 21:31:35
Good points folks and I take your perspectives on board.
I don't have any disdain towards Gerard, I like him a lot.
I'm just not sure sacking Rohl and bringing him in is the answer.
Back in October, I didn't have much hope of a title challenge at all. It was great to see
that Dr managed to get a tune out of the squad he inherited, so he must have something about him.
A lot of people were singing his praises for the fact he got us anywhere near a title challenge. Now people want him sacked because the stuffing fell out the players at the final hurdle. I'm not sure how much of that is in the manager. It's not like he's the only manager this has happened with.
I'd like to see him be given time.

I can hear the groans, but I'd give Wilder a go if available, for me, he has a strong record of improving teams.
