Psv Eindhoven are watching Chermiti with a view to a summer move I see

03 Apr 2026 20:57:28
Hopefully they are willing to spend big, I actually think the Eredivisie would be a good place for him.

03 Apr 2026 21:05:03
First time poster, Budapest based. Can't comment on transfer speculation but the boy is a good player. Two good feet and can pick a pass. Might be a bit on the small side compared to recent signings.

03 Apr 2026 21:07:30
Quick check on Google - PSV's record signings bought for around EUR15m. Would they break their transfer record for him? Not sure, and I'm not sure we would bite at EUR15m either.

03 Apr 2026 21:11:59
Thank you, Jardine. Do you think he is good enough? I think he would be an able alternative if we cannot get Silas Anderson.

03 Apr 2026 21:19:07
Certainly at a similar level, Aph - just to be clear for others, we are talking about Kata. Sorry for posting in the wrong place, Missus always said my brain was upside down!

03 Apr 2026 21:23:58
Dado, I think we'd ask €18m or thereabouts, mate.

We may be happy with the 15 with 5 in add-ins and a big sell-on.

03 Apr 2026 21:25:08
Thank you very much for your response, Jardine.

What is your opinion on Gabor Szalai?

I am hearing his name in dispaches.

03 Apr 2026 21:48:00
Aph, again a decent player. One possible criticism is he seems to prefer everything in front of him, so might need a Balugan, Bassey, Djiga beside him.

03 Apr 2026 21:52:50
Thank you, Jardine. I appreciate your response.

03 Apr 2026 22:16:36
No worries. Interesting to see if either of these pan out. Certainly decent squad players at the very least.

By way of context, I'm out here staying with my son who works in Budapest. He and his lovely Hungarian wife invited me over after I was forced into early retirement and was feeling a bit lost.

It has really helped me, as has this great forum. I love all the contributions on here, so thanks all for the company.

03 Apr 2026 22:30:19
Welcome, Jardine, liking your contributions. Hope the change is working out for you.

03 Apr 2026 23:37:21
Stevie, I'd take 18m no bother, mate. Just thinking the club will want a decent profit.
He is frustrating, but do you keep him for 1 more season, hoping it all clicks, or cash in and try bring in a natural goalscorer.

03 Apr 2026 23:40:15
Hello Jardine and welcome.

04 Apr 2026 00:40:52
Jardine, I'm liking the look of your posts too, I think you'll become a great poster. Welcome.

Dado, I would also take the EUR18m for him in theory mate.

For me it's going to come down to how many exits were willing to allow in this one summer.

We can't allow a massive turnover of players again.

I think Dio Raskin Gassama and Manny will all be sold from 1st team.

I think Moore won't be back, nor Olsen, Meghoma, Cornelius and Aaron's.

Tav, I think might we'll get a new deal, but let's say he doesn't.

I think we'll see Antman Miovski sold too so that's 12 I've named that most would agree won't be here next season.

To start adding to that with Chermiti could be too much. That's why I'd keep Tav around too. We need some continuity.

Same with Manny, we can always cash in next summer, or January at a push but we need to keep some continuity.

04 Apr 2026 06:01:46
The time is probably right to cash in on Raskin & Dio, but I'd like to keep Manny and Djiga. You make a good point about too many incomings/outgoings.

I really can't see Tav getting another year, bud, and I hope not either.

Best case, we win the league, he goes out on a high.
If we don't win it, and he is given another year, I don't think many people would be particularly pleased. It's so clear this season that he's way past his best.

04 Apr 2026 08:30:57
Nope, I get it, but sentiments get in the way due to his past service, in the background, yes, on the pitch, no for me. Do u think he'd be happy being a bit part player? I don't.

04 Apr 2026 08:50:26
Yes, Aphelion Youssef Chermiti would be suited to Dutch football and do well there, mate, but PSV will have to pay big money to us for us to do business. ? Chermiti will go to the Dutch league and Danilo will come back to us. ?

04 Apr 2026 06:24:55
I absolutely agree, Dado, that Tav is past his best and has probably been on the wane for about the last 2 seasons, mate. ? However, I would give Tav another 1 year deal on reduced terms and not being a first team regular/first pick right back. ? Having said that, the reasons I'd want us to give him this new 1 year deal are because he's always available, ie. to cover two or three positions with injuries, loss of form to other players, tactical changes, etc, not to mention his experience around the squad, which massively helps, especially with new signings.

And, of course, like I mentioned, the guy is always available, never injured, and is a pure athlete, who can definitely still contribute not only with goals. ? ?? I know most on here will not be surprised with my post regarding Tav, as everyone knows I've always been a big fan of his, but hopefully I've backed up my reasons why. ? ??

04 Apr 2026 08:08:27
Sir Walter, I agree. I would offer Tav a player type coaching ambassador role on
1. Experience

2. Quality

3. Versatility

4. Can help youth, new players.
And, like or loathe, he's one of ours, been through it all with us.

5. Goals

6. Can help out over a good few positions.

7. He can be our super sub,
Offers a lot still.

Agree, past his best, but he's exactly the guy to help us finish off games.
Come up with a wonder free kick.
Crosses on harder teams to break down.

And, we all know, can put away vital penalties.

04 Apr 2026 09:30:47
Unfortunately Tavs time is done. Would I offer him a coach / ambassador role? I don't think so either, when much of his time has been reflected as a lack of leadership and failure to "learn from this".

Can we say he really inspires those around him? He has been an incredible servant and will always be welcome back, but it will be time to move on with hopefully another title medal round his neck.

04 Apr 2026 09:51:09
Kaiser, on your post my good friend, it isn't Tav's fault. He was playing for our club and captain of our club when players we had that he played with were nowhere near as good as we once had, and I feel sorry for Tav that he didn't get to play beside quality of yesteryear, mate.

☹️ Even the late, great Walter Smith said, when asked the question not long before his sad passing, i.e. 'which one player would you take from Steven Gerrard's team that you could have for your Rangers team's?' ? Walter's reply was James Tavernier. ? ??

04 Apr 2026 12:14:36
As a player, Sir Walter, I've always been a fan of him like yourself, but when it comes to coaching roles etc in the future, I don't think I'd have many, if any, from our supposed leadership groups from recent years. Would much rather just say a massive thanks and well done.

04 Apr 2026 12:19:41
Sentimental clap trap Tavernier should have been away 5 years ago, always is fit, a available for selection, scores a goal now and again, downside can't defend, can't take pressure, takes every throw every corner every penalty despite missing 21, good servant but that's because nobody else wanted him. one of the worst captain's in our history, imagine him trying to inspire anyone, listen to his interviews jesus he would send you into a coma.

04 Apr 2026 12:46:30
Welcome Jardine. ????

04 Apr 2026 13:20:20
Aph, just reflecting more on your posts on Kata and Szalai. Have you any insight on the interest in the Hungarian market? Is it just opportunistic based on these two players or something more strategic?

The MLSZ invested heavily in player development a few years ago and maybe it's starting to bear fruit.

Also thanks for the welcome messages everyone, much appreciated!

04 Apr 2026 13:36:06
Just read that there stevie online mate

04 Apr 2026 20:00:27
Coops, that was a long time ago. He said that about Tav. He wouldn't say it about this Tav we have now.

05 Apr 2026 01:51:40
Storm, think what Coops mean and u probably know that. Is Tav at his best, could've played for better teams and got a game no problem at all.
We always get the story of he isn't successful etc, but that's not his fault. He played in some poor teams and some ok teams.

If u put Tav at right back for Manchester final team, we'd have been a far better team.

If Tav was there when Advocaat was here he'd play ahead of Porrini and even Ricksen at rb. He'd have improved that team too.

His goals and assist, to say Arveladze or Wallace or Big Cousin and Darcheville, would have been immense.

In the same way, people say he should've won more in his time, they also need to admit if he was in a better team he'd have been frightening.

Where would we have been if he wasn't in these teams that didn't win enough?

Without him, we prob wouldn't have won 55 and we wouldn't have got to Seville. Not a chance we get to Seville without him.
