Gaz, Maswahnise is incomparable with Archer.
The club have not made any moves as we have no intention of signing the player.
I believe the player has no intention of joining Rangers either.
So I have come to the conclusion that you have never been involved in the business side of football whatsoever.

I get your argument about one season wonders but I would like to know what is the profile that Maswanhise doesn't fit. He's young, wouldn't cost that much in relative terms and would have a sell on value if he kept his current form going. I' m not saying we should sign him but I am curious about your reason why we won't.

Rangers are not signing Tawanda Maswanhise, the lad wants a move down south after this season or earlier if a club can meet motherwells valuation, tidy profit coming for them seeing he only cost them a staggering 100k.
we have enough wingers and strikers already, we just loaned 2 attackers out - Curtis, Danilo.
The recruitment team have done better than any team in our league by a mile, chill oot mate, will you still be greeting when we lift the league title with the current squad, even if we adn't brought in the 4 we have signed, we were still likely to win the league.

Whilst I understand your point and opinion Gaz I think saying the recruitment team are garbage is mental when Gassama, Chermiti and Fernandez are all likely to leave for massive profit, igamane left after 1 season for massive profit, Skov Olsen has come in and is seen as a statement signing, Chukwuani clearly has potential and presence and Rommens looks full of potential.
As with every club there is a risk in signings but it's not like FIFA where you say I want that player and then you make a bid and he joins. We can only sign players when the player, our club, their club and the agent al come to an agreement. If we can't get them we move on. Football has moved on and isn't only about a striker scoring goals otherwise Dessers would have been a saviour in our eyes but his all round game was lacking which led to much fan criticism as well as his missed chances.
Too simplistic to say we didn't get X y z we're rubbish. Aww this striker only scored 6 goals he's mince.

so let's ask ourselves sensible questions all of the top 3 are or have been in the market this winter transfer window. Rangers aren't reported as looking at Maswanhise. Neither are Celtic; they have actually bought someone and are linked today with another. we have also bought a winger and they are continuously linked with wingers. Hearts have already bought players and whilst they may not have same budget the lads name hasn't been mentioned in connection with anyone. no cheeky bids; absolutely nada.
so question is given he is banging in goals why would that be the case. is it they have already chatted and been told he isn't for sale for any price unless it is ridiculous. there must be a reason at least both OF haven't looked. might be nothing but can't believe that.

Surely it's better to get players in that fit the profile and can score? If we can't get the Naderi lad and there aren't any other similar options then we should wait until the summer and save our cash. They've got to be able to score more goals that Chermiti/Mio and improve that part of our performances.
I do trust DR so I'll get behind any signing he makes but to be fair to a lot of the posters that are calling for a bid into Motherwell is just because they see the Naderi possibility drop to almost zero and only other rumour seems to be a chap that isn't a goal scorer. Many are over the top about it being a poor transfer window as I actually think it has been good. Good to have different views on here.

I've read that Maswanhise is currently massively outperforming his xg. Which implies this is a purple patch of form rather than indicative of wider quality. I've no idea how much of that to believe, and think the guy looks exciting, but I trust the scouts to make a better calls after watching Motherwell for multiple full games, than most fans after watching highlights packages.

Guys I think we need to give it time. This is Rohl's first window for transfers and working with recruitment, he's brought 4 in so let's judge on how they contribute. What I do agree on is our past recruitment has been very poor with the amount of bang average lower English players being unacceptable. Hopefully that's behind us now, judge from this window.

That felt like watching us at the start of the season, zero creativity, bad days when you can only score corners and Hibs easily dealt with them today. We're not signing a proven goalscorer in January that flying & banging them in because they'll all be starters for their teams & to get them we'd need to pay over the odds or they'll just not be for sale so we do need to shop around & look for someone.
Dessers wasn't a proven scorer but came to us & started banging them in, Miovski proven in the Scottish league & imo he's more useless than Danilo. Just cause is proven or isn't doesn't mean they'll be bad or good, could be simply the right environment for a player to thrive. I mean look at Norwich with Clement suddenly those players are great, Makama smashing them in now but didn't get a look in before.
Right now our recruitment team is Stig & Thelwell's leftovers (Purdy & Co), we won't have a proper one til the summer. Rohl needs another 2 windows to clean the mess he inherited imo. Summer will be all defenders.
