Coady is a great signing imo. Clearly has drive and gives his all. Aarons isn't coming to sit on the bench . should mean Tav is going to be a sub at best ?.

As a big fan of our captain james tavernier over the years as everyone knows, i do realise that tav's time will be much more limited now with now being almost 34 years old and the quality signing of max aarons 2 major reasons for this. However i'm most certainly not going to now forget or cast aside what james tavernier has done for Rangers over his ten completed years at our club.
He's been a terrific servant over the years, showing loyalty and love for our club, not to mention the incredible numbers he's chalked up in a Rangers jersey which shouldn't be forgotten. He's an athlete, who is very very rarely injured and always available and it's father time which is now caught up with tav. So imo we should be kind to tav in what's now going to become his phasing out of being our first team regular right back, he deserves this for the reasons i've mentioned above imo.

I think RM said that Tav remains captain, but his game time will depend on his training and performances. as it will for all players.

If he's playing… I don't see any reason to change that. And if he's not playing, it will force someone else [to be captain]

I think Aarons will be played on the left until Yilmaz is fit and ready to contribute for a sustained period. No way will we be playing Jefte at LB whilst contributing very little going forward or in defence.

Tav isn't going anywhere.
He might not be able to be a starter anymore, but he's a more than capable back up.
He'll see out his last season as club captain, hopefully with raskin the on pitch captain, then he'll leave us after his testimonial next summer.

I really don't know the answer to that as don't have any contacts directly with RM. If I had to guess I think we will play a back 3 with Tav Coady and Souttar and jefte and Aaron's at full backs (both are very good going forward) but that's just my own opinion. Pretty sure Tav will be captain this year and it'll be his last season with us. He splits opinions but I actually think he's been a lot better defensively this season although his g/ a have dropped off.

I think if we have managed to extend Raskins contract i think him being captain when Tav doesn't play would be a well deserved reward for the boy. Think Raskin will go but would be nice to have him this season for the start of the rebuild and if he keeps improving we will get top offers for him next summer. Tav also deserves to be involved he's earned that but i agree maybe not as involved as recent seasons.

I don't think Jefte is as bad as people make our to be. He is raw and by the sounds of things RM Could be the man to bring him on. A fit healthy Ridvan would be great but would he last? Hopefully he has been working on it and a good pre season we could have good competition between both gor the Spot.

Interesting. So, we have a new captain if Aaron's takes RB (presuming Tav isn't used as a CB), but Tav remains captain if he plays? Not sure why they'd take it off whoever is captain just to let Tav have it when he's on.
Does he have a clause in his contract that he be captain so long as he's at the club? ?.

Lundstram if that is the case then I don't see how that solves the problems we had in defence from last season with that back 3. A few have said heading isn't coadys strongest attribute and its not tavs either so cheap goals at corners will continue.

Marco pretty common to have multiple captains. Tav will be the club captain and have it when he plays others will get it when he doesn't play just like every club in the world.

Sirwalter- Beck was outstanding at Dundee, very similar loan to that of Madison at Aberdeen a few years ago. He'd be a great bit of business for the club but if I'm honest I haven't heard anything about him yet, but that doesn't mean there's not something to it!

Big dado tavs actually fairly good in the air. It's his positioning and letting a ball pull off him that's the issue.

Sam. Not true. Many times has an opposing player scored a header at back post and Tav is marking. Tav maybe wins headers out wide from long balls etc and he can see it all the way but set pieces he absolutely doesnt.

Usually it's because the players pulled off him and not due to loosing the header in 50/ 50s for the ball in the air tav dominates most of the time you can have a look online at the stats. The issue is players pulling off him and positioning. I'm sure a seen somewhere he was top 2 for winning headers last season in our box and opposition box on x.
