Everyone keeps saying issues run deeper than just the players so what do you actually mean?

Leadership group previously mentioned? - pretty much gone.

Tav the issue? - gone

No spine to the team with loud voices? - bought new, not sure it is there still.

Manager? - keeps changing so not that.

Recruitment? - not horrendous despite what some may think. May have been an EHL article noting the actual % of successful transfers across clubs is actually quite low.

Owners? - problem existed before the new owners came in.

The least I expect the players is to put in a full shift trying to win a match no matter the tactics, the opposition etc. Get stuck in, full effort, full commitment. I didn't see that on Thursday and that's what shocked me most.

29 Aug 2026 20:02:45
There is a malaise hanging around our club, and the only way I see it going is to knuckle down, get behind the owners, management team and players. We have lost the winning way and need to dig deep, and as results improve, confidence improves, and feeds progress. May be a hard road, but we all want Gers to be back winning titles sustainably.

29 Aug 2026 20:17:37
Two good posts.

29 Aug 2026 20:18:07
Funny how no one mentions the fans 😬 and can't notice the last time we were unplayable was when there were no fans there.

29 Aug 2026 20:28:24
Blue89,
You've just pointed out the common denominator, how dare you.
Seriously though, Bizzmybox, you absolutely echo my thoughts.
24jamger, absolutely.

29 Aug 2026 20:44:14
I'd love to see tomorrow if something went against us, say we went down 1-0 early, rather than the boos and abuse, our fans try to lift and motivate the players and see if that makes a difference. I think the first two posts are great. Keep them coming.

29 Aug 2026 20:58:30
Really, Blue89? People constantly on here blaming the fans for all our problems. Strange that Celtics toxic fans and constant protests and demonstrations for years haven't stopped them being able to churn out trophy after trophy. Or am I wrong, and it's all rainbows and bunny rabbits with polite applause across the city?

29 Aug 2026 21:00:28
Spot on. Banging a drum and singing outdated songs for 90 mins doesn't make the difference. Roaring your team on when they're 2 down does.

29 Aug 2026 21:16:33
Kaiser, we were booing the team off at half time for drawing 0-0 in the first leg last week. It's embarrassing. We don't have any God-given right to win anything, but many think we do.
We've played 7 games, 7! And some want the manager gone already.
I'll also add, the last time I remember us getting behind the team, even when we were getting beat, was against Hearts last season, and the atmosphere was incredible, and lo and behold we won that game in style.

The definition of support is to raise up, not break down.
I'm not saying for a minute fans shouldn't be able to have an opinion, but the constant moaning when a player misplaces a pass won't get the best out of that player.
If you don't like it that much, that you have to boo and moan, then don't go to games.

29 Aug 2026 21:18:06
I'll also add Kaiser, when you talk about Celtics fans being toxic, you're completely correct, but guess what? The times that has been was when we strolled the league and when they couldn't win under Nancy, so you've just proved my point even more.

29 Aug 2026 21:21:27
2 great posts.

Blue, agree with you re the fans. We're an impatient bunch, to say the least.

However, anyone listening to Kevin Thomson on co comms. He regularly mentions this and that we need players with the ability to play through the groans.

The ability to play forward, play the difficult pass again and again to cut teams open.

Nothing's changed except for a wee bit more impatience. And it's the board who need to get over the impatience by letting a team flourish, imo.

29 Aug 2026 21:44:11
It's the hope that kills us. As unlikely as it was, up to the play offs, our hopes were up there, then wham, it was back to earth again with those last few games, and now a bad start makes it seem even worse.

Have no idea what the answer is, but we could certainly do with some good results now domestically. I hope it starts tomorrow!

29 Aug 2026 21:51:18
Jamger, I have asked this question I don't even know how many times already.

Made all the same points and asked those to explain what the deeper reason is behind it all, but nobody can explain it as they don't have a Scooby Doo, but rather than admit the current manager is the standard required they fall back on this excuse.

We have signed 12 players this summer and how many last summer, all while moving the "problem" players on. So are all these new signings coming in just deciding to have the wrong mentality, are they deciding that they just don't want to try, are they choosing to ignore the manager?

29 Aug 2026 21:56:52
Celtic fans are and have been toxic far more than only during the 55 season and under Nancy, mate, so that's just nonsense for starters.
What u say about the Hearts game also completely goes against the constant narrative we only support when things are going well, too, so I'll refer the other thread attacking the fans to your post. Thanks.
Personally, I don't boo and I can't get to games much anyway, but can totally get it. U highlight also the booing at half time, which happens. But is that responsible for the shocking performances leading up to that? We have no divine right to win, as u say, but we can certainly demand more than they have shown.

The very least we should expect is players to give their best. If u don't, then u deserve to get whatevers coming to u.
And that manager has also shown his anger and frustration at the players. Is he also toxic and part of the problem? No. This constant narrative that the fans are somehow the cause of all our problems rips ma knitting, sorry.

29 Aug 2026 22:27:18
Wev barely had any players that can handle a toxic atmosphere, Chermiti? Cerny definitely, Dessers, Tav? Not many can handle stick for 90 mins.

29 Aug 2026 22:28:56
Like a phoenix from the flames, we'll rise again.

Just hope to god it's tomorrow, and both teams return to Glasgow with three points from very difficult fixtures.

29 Aug 2026 22:42:31
Aye, because we got to an EL Final without any fans.
Won the SC without any fans?
Won the LC without any fans?
Just maybe, the players and manager need to give the fans something to back?

29 Aug 2026 23:05:40
Kaiser and MPH, you're both correct. But we did all that with supportive fans. The Hearts game was after a long run of wins, so the mood was good. Same with the Europa and cups. So, just maybe, if we get behind them, regardless of how the first ten minutes go, then they'll start to up it and get some wins.

Btw, I don't think they should need to up it just because fans cheer them on, but nothing is going for us, so we need to be one of the positives to turn the tide.

29 Aug 2026 23:30:57
How many times has it been said, the players have to give the fans something to cheer. Many times, even when we have been poor, we hear our fans singing along, but it doesn't spur the players on.

Load of BS like no other, fans boo their players, look at them lot. Mass protests at games, and they still won.

29 Aug 2026 23:38:16
I know I was going off on a bit of a rant, but it's the same group of fans. The game never starts with boos. As MPH says, they've got to give them something. Half the time, even something like a committed tackle can get the fans going, but we aren't even seeing that much lately.

29 Aug 2026 23:45:02
Thanks all. Think that went off track for a bit there, but I would sort of agree re the fans a bit. I always said it felt 55 was a bonus of us not having the pressure of the fans, them not having them driving them on to score late goals, and Agent Lennon taking them down with player rows etc. Since then, it hasn't been brilliant to say the least, we have had some highs but not many. That 55 team had a terrific Rangers core in it which I guess is why people keep wanting that again - Greggs, Davo, Jack, Arfield. 4 guys who do run through brick walls for the team and Club. Add that Goldson, Morelos, etc., who bought into it. I just don't see that yet with this current crop.
Yes, they have been poor too, but they have always had that leader/s to drive them through.

Brown, Macgregor, Tierney etc. So their football and success allows their fans that belief to support them through to the end while half of us are in the subway.

What I was trying to find out is what these issues are though from those itk. Like an example of a proper issue that is sucking the heart out of the club would be people who are determined to see us not succeed, and are inside the club, but surely there aren't any like that in the club? Like actions being taken deliberately to screw us. That would be a deep rooted problem. Or perhaps it is simply we have been poorly managed for so long that so many departments have the wrong people leading them (they mean well but just aren't what is required?).

30 Aug 2026 01:46:22
They don't have an answer, Jamger, because they don't know. It's just something folk use to excuse poor results.

The only thing I can remotely think of is the players we don't want, but we are terrible at getting rid of players, and they end up festering here for too long.

30 Aug 2026 03:08:35
24Jam, I forgot to mention I wasn't having a go at your post. Thought it was great.

30 Aug 2026 08:28:50
Yes, you're right, 24Jam, and sorry for taking it off on a tangent. Think I was already in mid rant mode when I saw Blue89 say no one blames the fans. No offence either there, Blue89, u made good points too.
I don't believe we won 55 because of not having fans. I think we had a good team, the core of which went to a Euro final with fans whilst others' struggles were well documented.
I don't know if there is one big problem that's stopping us. Since coming back, there's been years of legal fighting and board room battles. We went way beyond our means to get the 55 and stop the 10 and have had to readjust to recover. And now, with the latest owners being hugely successful businessmen, they thought buying a club like Rangers would be easy.

I believe they totally underestimated the job and treated it like another business, as another part of their portfolio and got all their appointments wrong. As if, just because people came from the riches of the English Prem, they will be better than SPL, so minimum effort is needed. They either made really bad decisions or were really badly advised. They still haven't got any clear direction and recruitment has just been scattergun. I'm inclined to believe Souness, who was pretty clear that the wrong type of people are involved in making decisions.

30 Aug 2026 12:00:59
No offence taken at all, Blue89! :-) Takes a lot to rile me, sadly, the current playing squad do lol! No issues, Kaiser, either. Just reading the latest rumour on that page talking about toxic club top to bottom, again, I wonder how and why.
