I think Martin's reign is the barometer for McInnes now.

Those calling for DM's head should remember that Martin survived the 6-0 Brugge thrashing.

RM had 17 games in total. 7 league games which yeilded 8 points. DM has only 1 point after 2 games. He has 5 league games to beat 8. If we're worse off/the same as this time last year after those 7 games then a major decision has to be made.

He also has the League Cup game against Celtic, which is now massive for him. If we win that it goes a long way to changing the narrative.

Martin at least got us through a few qualifiers before the Brugge game, and among them had that really good performance at Ibrox against Viktoria Plzen. We have had no decent performances under McInnes, and I cannot see where we win a game at the moment.

I really hoped McInnes would be the man to come in and galvanise the team, as apparently he has really good man management skills, but he's a rabbit caught in the headlights. Sadly, I don't see this job working out for him. We are only getting worse under him.

Like I said last week, hindsight is a wonderful thing but imo we should have given Barry Ferguson, Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor a one year rolling contract instead of appointing Russell Martin and his management team and I definitely think we wouldn't be nowhere as bad a mess as we're currently in and I won't be convinced otherwise. 🤔 🇬🇧

Barry Ferguson being mentioned for Rangers manager again. He flopped at Blackpool, Alloa and Kelly Hearts, so how do people think he would have done a good job for us?

28 Aug 2026 08:33:35
Walter, can you remember my posts on Barry.

I was nearly laughed off, off of here.

28 Aug 2026 08:37:30
If hindsight is the case, then I'd have kept Clement. Giving him a proper structure above his head and some proper funds to splash.

We'd also probably have kept Dessers and even Igamane. Another season from him would have done wonders.

But that ship and all those other ships have sailed.

Barry Ferguson. 🤣🤣

28 Aug 2026 08:51:59
Mph, this is how bad it's got.

Nobody of any real relevance seems to want
The job.

As always. Otherwise surely would have been in the door already!?

28 Aug 2026 08:56:19
All this talk of we should have done this done that. Kept him, hired them. It's all academic. Water under the bridge. However, after that total abject performance, Mckinnes is in trouble if he loses to the sheep. What a shambles.

28 Aug 2026 08:57:35
I'm going to take pelters for saying this, but sometimes you need to first go backwards to then go forwards in every walk of life. I absolutely agree, exiting any competition before it's even started is embarrassing, but I look at it this way.

DM has one job to do: win the league, that's it, no distractions of Thursday night football like Celtic and Hearts. Give the man a chance. We are not even out of August yet, and he will 100% get it sorted out.

I'm away to get my favourite bathing toaster.

28 Aug 2026 09:19:28
Absolutely brilliant, Yungblu, my favourite bathing toaster.

28 Aug 2026 09:20:05
Barry Ferguson should never be handed the reigns again. I mean, c'mon?!

28 Aug 2026 09:22:54
Walter, a 33% win record.

28 Aug 2026 09:23:42
In fairness, Ferguson outfoxed Mourinho in Istanbul. He also won away to Celtic and should've had them beaten at Ibrox as well, only for us to draw. We were robbed against Bilbao in the Europe league QF (soft red card in home game & Dessers' shirt getting ripped off his back - literally - in the away tie with no pen).

Ferguson showed his inexperience at times, but also displayed real managerial ability at times as well. Big comebacks away vs Killie, Dundee.
Keeping him instead of appointing Martin wasn't the worst idea, and one which should've come to fruition.

For the posters having a go, read my post again and suggest who I'm gauging Barry Ferguson against, remembering none of the players he inherited were his players. 🤔 For God's sake, I'm not saying sack Derek McInnes and go out and bring in Barry Ferguson as manager.

🤔 My preferred choices were Kevin Muscat, Steven Gerrard, and some just don't rate or want them, so who do they want, because we ain't getting Klopp or Guardiola? 🤔 I even mentioned wee Billy Reid who's a superb coach and also has our club at heart.

28 Aug 2026 09:52:14
I wanted Muscat, plenty of experience of winning league in different countries, loads of games under his belt, and a clear attacking style of football that would cut through a low block and give us an identity. Also, his teams are super fit and play at the highest tempo.

28 Aug 2026 09:57:46
Am wanting Michael Beale and a bag of cans.

28 Aug 2026 10:49:09
Least Beale had a decent win percentage and I've no cans left after last night. 😂

28 Aug 2026 12:06:25
Muscat should have been signed after gerrard went. a blind man could see his tactics work and he's a winner. Absolutely scunnered this season yet again.
