If there has ever been a case for Barron it is now. This start to the season has been extremely poor. There can only be 2 scenarios where he is not getting the game time he deserves.
-injury prone and looking to cash in
-He wants to leave
If there are any doubters about Barron now then look at how limited in passing ability Chuck is so far and how limited overall Devlin is.

Barron isn't much better at passing, to be brutally honest, but he definitely wanted of made that horrible tackle Devlin did. I think Chuki is falling into the Dio problem & that's being used wrong, like Dio.
He's a player that's meant to be in the box, making late runs in as he's big & powerful, but none of our midfielder make those runs or get in the box because they aren't allowed to tactically.

A headless chicken like Barron does not get in the team in front of Raskin, Neil, Chukwuani & Dragojevic.
Who are all more disciplined and better footballers than him.
He is fighting with Devlin for 5th placed midfielder. A poor, strange signing who proved his worth to the team last night.
21 Aug 2026 11:28:01
Far better all round than Devlin.
21 Aug 2026 11:56:26
We all have a difference in opinion, but when terms like 'headless chicken' get tossed around for Barron, I can immediately judge someone's football knowledge.
21 Aug 2026 12:21:28
Not back to this again that Barron is the saviour to all our problems. If he's good enough, he'll be in the team.
21 Aug 2026 12:43:12
I actually think we're finally starting to see the best of Chukwuani as we're playing to his strengths.
21 Aug 2026 12:48:55
I agree, Ehl. So far, he looks amazing, completely different player from last season.
21 Aug 2026 12:51:48
Mph, if you don't mind me asking mate, would you class Naderi as a headless chicken. 🤔
21 Aug 2026 12:52:02
Nobody thinks Barron is the answer to our problems but he shouldn't be getting forced out the club by a signing like Devlin. He was really looking good before his injury and was our best player at that time. That showed that he was improving and growing into his role. His passing, long and short, is good, although he isn't somebody who will split the defence with a pass, but is Devlin or Raskin or was Ryan Jack.
The midfield needs balance and he brings legs and energy in there. Oh, and by the way, he's the best dead ball taker at the club now that Tav is away.
21 Aug 2026 13:02:37
I have no problem with Chuck, but I don't think his range of passing is great at present. There's still a bit of Chuck where he's still got to take the game by the scruff of the neck, whether that's at no. 6 or 8.
21 Aug 2026 13:21:53
For me, Barron stands out in games for one reason and that's his application. When he was going through his best spell, we were pish and he was the best of a bad bunch because of his effort levels.
Application over ability doesn't cut it. Unfortunately for me, the lack of ability will be his downfall when comparing him to technically better players, Chuka, Neil, Raskin, Drago.
If any of them had Barron's application, they certainly wouldn't be playing in the SPL.
A good player to have for certain types of game, but wouldn't be a starter for me & he most definitely isn't "the answer" to our midfield.
That being said, Barron over Devlin any day of the week.
21 Aug 2026 13:25:51
Dan Neil before Barron. 🤣 No for me.
21 Aug 2026 13:37:37
What do people actually watch? Chuk is starting to show the player he is. Think he has been excellent the last few games, as Rangers are playing to his strengths.
I know we are all allowed our opinions; but to say Barron should be in the team over Chuk is madness.
21 Aug 2026 14:33:08
Laudrup, I really like Barron, but if I had choice of Neil or Barron, it wouldn't be Barron, we've not seen how good Neil can be.
21 Aug 2026 14:34:25
Whether he meant it or it was just clumsy, Devlin's tackle was terrible. He caught the boy halfway up his shin with his studs, and if that had been a tackle on one of our players, we would rightly be screaming about it. Even in the pre season friendlies, he has been inches away from this type of poor tackle, if he gets it right, great, but when he gets it wrong, this is what happens.
He is a liability and can't be trusted not to do something stupid. Should never have been signed and here's a prediction when McInnes is sacked and a new manager comes in, Devlin will be gone.
21 Aug 2026 13:43:19
7Djb, horrible tackle? It wasn't even a tackle. It's so blatantly obvious to anyone that's played even a bit of football what he was trying to do: get his leg planted to put himself in between the player and the ball. It went wrong, that's football; there isn't a bit of malice in it.
It gives the people that didn't want him to have a go. He is a Rangers player, guys, let's get behind him. He'll definitely do a job for us. People talking about Barron being way better, can I ask when? Not having a go at Barron, just a genuine question. Thought the booing at half time was uncalled for, we seem hell bent on making Ibrox a difficult place to play, instead a joy. We had a convincing win in the cup.
What should have been a convincing win in Europe, if Gassa and Drago had their shooting boots on. I get it was a horrible start, but there's improvement in last 2 games, that's what we want to see. With McInnes talking about it being harder to get the higher priced players in, it sounds to me like we are going to get a couple of big money signings. Always said this would be the case at the end of the window, which hopefully significantly adds to a stronger 11.
Said this last night. What pleased me most was we were never in any danger until we went down to 10. People have been calling out to make us hard to beat, I think we got that spot on last night, imho. You would think we lost reading some of the posts.
21 Aug 2026 13:59:00
I wouldn't SWS.
Different type of game when you are upfront and your job is to close down defenders and score (which he did).
Whereas, in the middle of the park, you need controlled, disciplined aggression.
At one point, with 10 men, Barron followed the ball and man over the half way line, leaving a huge space for the opposition to exploit. That, to me, is headless chicken.
21 Aug 2026 14:08:52
You are questioning people's knowledge on football, but say Barron deserves to start. What proof have you got he deserves to start? Do you watch training every day, etc. Mph is right on Barron, he is a limited footballer. Also, Amo is 100% right saying Barron's best in a Rangers jersey was because he was giving 100% running about when we were pish last season.
I honestly don't know what people watch if they think Barron is the answer or, in fact, a good footballer. Another guy we got from Aberdeen, he was in and out of the team for them.
21 Aug 2026 14:09:43
Boy blue, love the positivity mate.
I'll answer your genuine question, Barron over Devlin.
Barron's positioning is very good. Devlin positions himself a few yards off the movement of the ball and causes his first and 2nd passes to go backwards far too many times.
Barron's movement provides excellent opportunities for the players ahead of him to keep the ball in the opposition half.
Barron's energy is different from Devlin where he reads the ball better and intercepts the ball before making reactive decisions when they are too late. He can also do this in a higher position up the park allowing attacking players to take over instead of Dan Neil or Chuck doing this.
His ball control is better than Devlin's. He's a cleaner tackle than Devlin and can take the ball in tight spaces and still make forward passes.
There isn't a competition, mate.
I have no problem with Devlin being in the squad, and from what I've heard, there may be a few concerns with Barron's injury record. This may be why we are looking for the money for him.
In terms of overall playing ability, Barron is unbelievably underrated by some fans and it verges on the bizarre tbh.
21 Aug 2026 14:13:14
Why can't we just come on and talk about the players' positive attributes rather than using every opportunity to bash them. According to most on here, there is no player currently good enough. If our players were as good as you all want, they won't be playing for Rangers.
21 Aug 2026 13:53:55
Ah the old "I can immediately judge someone's football knowledge" patter when someone has a different opinion.
Funnily enough, Rostoto, more intelligent posters than you on here have said the same and I've proved them wrong.😉
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. 🔴⚪🔵
21 Aug 2026 15:53:18
Blueboy, it was horrible, could have done some damage & deserved a red card, no idea why Devlin thought he was getting a penalty.
21 Aug 2026 16:57:33
Well said, Geesa.
Rostoto, just trying to remain a we bit positive mate, it's like a morgue in here at times, no wonder happy go lucky guys like Fork get pissed off in here. They're all valid points, mate, I like both Rostoto, the negativity they both get is a shame.
I get people are giving opinions, but it's just relentless at times on here. I honestly think Devlin will surprise you, mate, hopefully!
22 Aug 2026 01:05:46
Storm, MPH, I don't really care about 'opinion' or 'intelligence' or 'knowledge about football' when people compare Barron to a 'headless chicken'.
That kind of patter is worthy of no reaction whatsoever, but my point stands strong. If we sell him and he stays fit, a lot of people will see his true value if he leaves.
