Without getting carried away it was a good performance from us yesterday and our passing forward was much quicker and direct with MOTM James Penrice giving us much more balance. 👌 He had a very good debut with a goal and assist to his name. 👌

At least it's a few weeks away until we play them back to back at Ibrox in the premier sports league cup quarter final and then at breeze block boulevard in the league the week later, which gives us more time to hopefully gel with all our new players and hit a run of form. 🙏

Also hopefully we'll have even more improvement to our starting 11 with the window closed before our double header against them. 👍🇬🇧 No fear bring it on 🥊

I think consistency of performance was also key yesterday, SWS.
Team balance was spot on.
Team selection from McInnes was also spot on.
The only player for me who was below par was Fernandez.
Huge noticeable difference in the ball getting moved forward quicker.
Wingers taking on their man.

We also created more chances than we have for a long while.
Even after the subs, we always looked to be going for more goals - something we've moaned about in the past where we have looked happy to sit and defend a lead.
Let's all hope this is the shoots of recovery required.

MPH, hopefully a lot if the new players can now relax a bit after experiencing how great a place Ibrox can be to play positive football with fans are behind the team.

Fernandez abombscare, but football being football, he scores against them and he's a hero again. Shimples.

Better performance, however, St Mirren could have also scored 5 goals. Chances being given away cheaply. Better opposition will punish us.

How could they have scored 5 goals with 3 shots on target?

It was a better performance, although Fernandez was poor compared to some of the others. His style is quite languid, so he's never going to be sprinting around all day. Like Bajrami and Aasgaard, I doubt that's ever going to make him particularly popular with the fans.

He gave away a penalty, but he had to make the tackle as the guy was otherwise through on goal.

He also made a couple of decent blocks and won most of the aerial challenges he contested.

There's obviously something not quite right with him, though. He could have a slight injury that he's playing through, similar to what McCrorie was dealing with.

That said, only two weeks ago, fans were saying he was worth £20m, so the talent and ability are clearly there for him to reach a much higher level.

Angus, he's 100% got all the tools to be a 20m player, but he's not showing it this season. To me, he doesn't look interested. That might be down to an injury.

I think, when Godfrey is fit, he could do with some time on bench to either get him back fit or give him a kick in the stones.

He definitely looks injured atm. He doesn't seem to be running comfortably; he seems to be hobbling around the pitch.

That said, his main issue atm is his decision making. For him to get back into the groove, he really needs to take less touches, use his full back more, rather than always going straight back to the keeper.

When he doesn't seem to opt to go back to the keeper, he then needs to position himself for the return, which he's not doing enough of, same for any pass really.

But start with less touches and less time on the ball.

Watch Fernandez body language when Vanja scores. Head down, not even bothering while everyone else celebrates.

Wishy. He held his groin during the Euro game near the end, so it may well be a slight injury. But alongside that he has a languid, relaxed style which doesn't sit well with fans, just think Aasgaard and Bajrami. Others play as poorly, but don't get the same if they run around a lot. So he strolls through games, is his style, but he has a turn of pace when needed. I personally like the fact he looks unflustered when he has the ball. He rushed into a tackle yesterday and got booked for it.

He also carries ball from defence well.

Issue atm is that every mistake he makes is being highlighted by media, even loose passes yesterday where Stewart was trying to stir it when his pass went astray saying it was lack of attention, when it was really just lack of precision.

So, yes, we could do with cover to bench/rest him if he is struggling, but the thing which doesn't help is fans turning on him. What happens here is reflected in the stadium. So he is just off form atm but his form will come back when his issue(s) get sorted. So support him during that time is all I am suggesting.

They were close with a couple of shots, Angus, that should of been scored. Header in first half looked harder to miss.

If he's slightly injured, surely it would make sense to leave him out? Not sure what is going on with Souttar, but both Sterling & McCrorie could play there for a game or 2 until any injury is fixed.
