Godfrey as capt was a surprise tonight. I assumed it would be Shankland or Neil. But I'll tell you what, the lads a talker on the pitch. Great to see.
In fact, that was the thing that was clear tonight. The amount of talking, advising, cajoling from the likes of Godfrey, Shankland. MCcrorie, Devlin, night and day from previous teams recently.
Im not saying that's all that's required but it's a vital ingredient in getting us back to the top. Multiple leaders.
Im going to say it now. I might have a new favourite player. Step forward Cammy Devlin.
Love his attitude.

Wasn't surprised by him tbh, he did exactly what I thought he would. A bit of bite in there, but a poor passer of the ball. I might have been wrong, and he could be a decent squad player.

I know it's only a friendly but thought Cammy Devlin when he came on at half time showed exactly the appetite and what he's all about and totally deserved to be named MOTM tonight. 👍🇬🇧 He's the type of tenacious midfielder that you love if he plays for your club and a player the rest of the club's supporters hate when he's playing against your club. 🤔 He puts the work and the challenges in and breaks the play well and like I've already stated McInnes rates Devlin highly and he'll start a lot more games in our midfield than a lot of our supporters think.
🤔 He never gives the opposition a seconds peace and is constantly at their heels winning possession back, he's like a wasp. 🤔 He's going to be a fans favourite imo. 👍🇬🇧

On the positive side of things, I really like the personalities that have come in - lots of communicators (Godfrey, Neil, Devlin, Shankland).
And I think I'm going to enjoy Cammy Devlin's contribution this season.
On the downside, can't help but think with McInnes we'll move forward domestically, but his brand of football will see us chasing shadows in European games.
Think the euro games will be a hard watch. Those St Etienne kids didn't give us the runaround for the last 15 minutes.

I suspected McInnes would bounce the armband around during pre-season. He is still figuring out this team. Who are the leaders, who do the others listen to, who should get the band permanently. Once he learns more about this squad, I'm sure the new captain will be announced.

Bbj was meaning over the course of a season, mate, not one match. Let him get used to the size of the club, the demands etc. I think he'll do just fine.

I know BB4, I'm just saying, though, that people raving about him after a half in a friendly isn't great, as it shows what we have lacked for years. Now just add the quality to his bite and we will be okay.

With Ibrox half full and a friendly, you will notice players talking and shouting. Add to that new players, manager and formations, then players should be a bit more vocal. We did struggle to string passes together and snuff things out quicker, wouldn't be surprised if still in heavy training today.

I know it's only a friendly bbj, but Devlin's passing and overall game was good last night, and is exactly what we need for Scottish football domestically, mate. 🤔 I truly think he'll surprise a few with his performances and how often, especially domestically, he starts games for us under McInnes. 🤔 When we signed Devlin McInnes eluded to how highly he rates him. 👍🇬🇧

Probably fair to give Devlin a bit of credit, he does what he does, which is bring a bit of grit. Nobody saying he's Xavi.
