Aww, the Israeli boy - we really hoped we would sign - I remember that, it was looking a done deal.
In fact, in away to look him up now and see how he progressed this past year.
I remember thinking back then, He would have been a top quality striker for us.

Turgeman ended up signing for New England Revolution. He scored a goal in his first 3 matches, only the 10th player to do so in MLS history (if I've read it correctly).
Looks like he's cemented his place in their team this season, having made around 17 appearances, scoring 5 goals and 4 assists so far. Their season started in February, by the looks of it.
Sorry, MLS is not a league I follow, so just going on what I'm looking up just now to share.

I have 1 question though, if all that is the case and followed to the latter. How did we end up signing Miovski last season? He was awful for Girona, ended up hardly getting game time and wasn't scoring.

Brilliant article Ehl. Great insight and very interesting read. I see that PSV sold Saibari to Bayern Munich for 50m so they have definitely got the funds to make a move for Chermiti now. They'd need to smash their transfer record to get him.

BBJ, that's an easy one to answer for once.
Martin effectively rejected 90% of the players that the recruitment team (under Koppens' guidance) had identified and wanted them to start afresh with a completely different set of attributes.
Thelwell should have prevented this; however, he didn't, which caused a major fall out behind the scenes as even after the team reworked the profiles Martin wasn't happy with the quality of the players.
This consumed so much time that most of our original targets had moved on. I can't recall the names, but the 2 main targets for the striking role were Croatian and Israeli. So, the recruitment team had to dust off some old profiles. We have a profile on Miovski from his time at Aberdeen, to see who was available and make some emergency decisions to ensure we had squad depth.

I've got a feeling we're going to lose Chermiti.
I went from thinking he was a waste of money to him becoming one of my favourite Rangers strikers in recent years. He's still a raw talent, but you can already see he's got all the attributes to have a fantastic career.
In fact, I genuinely think in a few years he could be playing for one of Europe's top clubs and be valued at £50 million or more.
It's a real shame because I can't believe we'll probably not get the chance to keep him for another season.
I doubt we will be able to replace his quality and potential for quite a while.
This was like a Bassey find.
A diamond in the rough.

Ah, I see EHL, that would make sense as he seemed more of a frantic signing to me.
Just highlights how badly last summer and how the appointments made really set us back.

Let's say we approach our top three replacements for a player and they all decide to move elsewhere, do we tend to keep tracking them for future? Conscious the list is constantly refreshed, so wondering if we just remove replacements or do they remain there?
