Everton just paid 25m for a cm from middlesbourgh in the Championship why are we not asking for nore for Raskin. Sick of being underpaid.

Because we finished 3rd in the SPL, which is probably on par with making the play offs within Division 1.

Sorry, to get more money he needs to play better and we need to at least start to challenge for trophies, something we have not done for years.

I don't think where we finish really has any bearing on how much a team will pay for our players. It will all come down to data and individual seasons. We paid 10m for Chermiti and he had never kicked a ball in first team football.
The league they play in obviously has a part to play.

Scottish football won't command the same fees as other leagues, but I refuse to believe if Chermiti scores 30 goals for us and we finish 3rd we would sell him for any less than if he scored 30 goals and we finish top. We would get a big fee regardless.

You mean like getting to the last 16 at the World Cup.

02 Jul 2026 20:06:54
Baxter, what do you mean by more? Do you know his price already? Lbh he hasn't exactly hit the heights expected, as Dado said, finished 3rd in a 2 horse race. We can't demand, just ask for more, because a player sold for 25m from Championship, mate.

02 Jul 2026 20:31:14
Championship player is a young England U21 player who always goes for a premium.

02 Jul 2026 20:35:36
What does it matter where we finish for player value. Spurs just bought Fernandez for 85m and West Ham were relegated. And 100m for Tonali who finished 12th.

Man City bought the lad Anderson whose team finished 7th for 130m. He's a Belgium international at a great age and a consistent performer!

02 Jul 2026 20:36:50
West Ham just got 85m for a cm that was in a regulation squad. Players are worth what buying clubs pay, and Hackney is a good player.

02 Jul 2026 21:13:13
Spurs well over paid for Fernandez.

02 Jul 2026 21:34:10
Rangers, every club in world football over pay for players. The market is bonkers.

02 Jul 2026 21:55:23
We're not in the EPL, guys. It's Scotland, and regardless if you can accept it or not, the players we have on the books are massive failures, and teams simply don't take a risk paying crazy money for failures.

Starting winning titles and getting back to the later stages of European competitions then we may start seeing record transfers again.

02 Jul 2026 22:09:17
Dado, I disagree. Teams don't buy poor players, they do buy good players in poor teams.
If we win league and Chermiti scores 5 goals and is poor, has he more chance of a big team picking him up than if he had scored 30 goals and we finished 3rd?

02 Jul 2026 22:28:51
Dado, but teams do pay money for good players. It is teams who win titles, and it is possible to have good players within a team and not win the title, even to come third.

So playing well against teams in Europe, even if we lose. Playing well in international games, in fact being chosen for your national team.

Middlesborough won nothing and yet they got how much for their player.

Championship players don't make it up here, remember, before you argue that is a better quality league.

Where a team finishes in the league, obviously, means little about a price a player's value is. West Ham's players being sold this summer are the perfect example of that. Why are they worth that much, as they just got relegated, so obviously everyone must be rubbish. ?

02 Jul 2026 22:44:20
Everyone knows it's not the EPL, but it's all relative, we're not asking 85-100mnits, 15-20m or there abouts for a full Belgian international. The example was to show you don't have to be winning the league to be a valuable player.

02 Jul 2026 23:22:36
Hate to say I reckon Dado is right. As much as fans are saying 25-30m for our players, I don't think we'll get that. Offers mentioned so far have been around half that. Until we start winning and performing again in Europe, we won't get those types of fees.
