Watched the second half of Senegal v Belgium last night to check out Raskin. In all honesty, he looked out of position a lot. He became the ball collector towards the end and moved the ball on well without losing it but initially both with the ball and without it, I thought he looked a bit lost. When Belgium had the ball he spent a lot of time in positions where it was impossible to recieve the ball and without the ball, he looked in no man's land a lot.
Positives, he was generally sharp in the few tackles he made which sometimes led to fouls for Senegal, and he rarely gave the ball away when he got it. Also he did a lot of pointing and telling others what to do. If we get 25m i'd cash in

Your opinion seems to be the minority one. Raskin was brilliant last night. He changed the entire game.

Baz, in my opinion, he did very well when he came on. He consistently mopped up and allowed Telemann and Trossrd to carry out more forward play.

I'll take that on board, guys, but there's a lot on here says he flatters to deceive. I wanted him to do well, but just pointing out what I saw. Not doubting his energy, but the late goals and comeback hide a multitude of sins.
If they lost 2-1, not sure he'd be seen in the same light.
I'm happy to admit I'm not a football coach, just a point of view, great comment about the bowls, Yermawsmaw ?, I'll consider it.

Not sure what game you were watching, Baz. Really thought he did well and got Tielemans playing and probably Trossard, which got them back in the game and eventually winning it. Wouldn't surprise me if he starts the next game.

Bazbear, what utter tripe. He comes on with a 2 nil deficit and they won.
Please take up bowls. ?

That's the way, Bazbear, take it on the chin and laugh it off - too many easily offended when it is just a banter and rumour page - imo Raskin did well and the better he does the more we will get - have a feeling they will get more for Engels which annoys me. ??

I really do think USA will beat Belgium. ?
02 Jul 2026 11:29:12
Don't think he was brilliant at all. In fact, he tried several cross field passes that ended up in the stands, to the frustration of his team mates. An average performance in a Belgium team that's past its best imo.

Thank God for you, MarcoVanGovan. Was starting to think a bottle of red had removed the little football knowledge I have.

Belgium, as in previous big tournaments, flatter to deceive. They have some outstanding players, but don't seem to gel as a team. Or as they say in Glesga, aw the gear but Nae Idea!
I reckon the US will beat them.
02 Jul 2026 12:22:00
Sws, good bet builder up in that USA this morning, red card for either side, Tillman anytime, 18/1.

Raskin was brilliant. He changed the entire game. What game were you watching? He was constantly dropping deep, or as Baz states, putting himself in position to not receive the ball. He isn't a creative type and shouldn't be sat deep trying to spread passes around. As Marco said, he tried multiple cross field balls that never found their target.
While Senegal were winning he was tracking a man, and just left him to jog back. He was lucky they never scored, as he would have got some stick for that.
He wasn't great but wasn't as good as many are making out. What changed for Belgium was Lukaku coming on and maybe the wide men.
02 Jul 2026 12:32:53
I think he's been fab. Done his job, kept it simple, without being flashy, stuck to the basics and allowed other players to flourish. Other players seem to trust him too.
I'll be sad to see him go as he has bags of potential.
What's the people how are coaches view on Raskin?
02 Jul 2026 12:38:45
I wouldn't say he was brilliant, but what he did do was come on and give the midfield the stability that it lacked with the 3 attacking midfielders that the manager had picked. Raskin played as a proper No 6, he sat in midfield, spread the play and was always available for a pass.
That allowed Teliemans and the two full backs to get forward more.
Watching that last night, the Belgian left back was terrible (a player who cost Brighton millions), and Rommens will walk into that side if he starts next season in good form.

Maybe a bottle of red removed it from both of us, Baz. ?
02 Jul 2026 13:36:17
Maybe Marco, I'm not even sure I stopped at one bottle.
Big Blue Jim, join the bottle of red club. ?
Glad someone else saw what I saw.

Raskin changed the game? ?
