So, in a tournament where qualification from the group was easier than it's ever been, Clarke has even managed to take that little shred of hope away from us. For counties like Haiti and Cape Verde to have scored more goals than Scotland is a disgrace and yet the SFA awarded him with a new contract prior to the world Cup.

I actually hope we don't get out the group as we don't deserve to and we would only get embarrassed anyway. Until such time that Scotland ditched the mentality of "we're a small country, even qualifying is a success for us" we'll continue to fail. Utterly disappointed with how this turned out but not surprised.

From our Rangers point of view, we were lucky in the sense that the bungling shower we know as the SFA did give Steve Clarke a new contract to remain Scotland manager, SirStruth. ? The reason I'm saying this is because it's my belief they would have moved to make Derek McInnes the new Scotland manager, and then we wouldn't have had the chance of appointing him as our manager, mate.

Really disappointed with that game. I don't think Clarke should have been awarded another contract either tbh. This may well be the best generation of player we might have for some time, and it's a shame we seem to have squandered it when it comes to showing up in these tournaments.

Result went against us late last night and it's looking very unlikely we make it through. We need a miracle now

From the small bits that I have seen, Shankland has been very, very poor. Ferguson has run his arse off for the team and is probably Scotland's best player.

25 Jun 2026 07:29:07
Shankland had no service done well with his few touches. Ferguson, if possible, should be Rangers captain, head and shoulders above anyone else for Scotland over the 3 games.

Both Morocco and Brazil were comfortably better than us in pretty much every department.

Other teams, similar to us, have lined up to be hard to beat, and either counter with pace or to be very direct and play of a powerful striker.

For some reason, we decided that the best way to beat Morocco and Brazil was to try and keep the ball in our own half for as long as possible.

Really was difficult to watch.

25 Jun 2026 07:36:14
There has been some good football played at this World Cup, especially from some of the so called lesser teams. However, Scotland are easily the poorest I've watched in terms of skill and entertainment value. No surprise really.

25 Jun 2026 07:53:39
The SFA have a manager that gets them to the big tournaments. That's their ambition: just get there and they can go away for 3 weeks of freebies and mix with others like they know what they're doing.

As long as Clarke keeps qualifying he'll keep his job. They couldn't care less what we do when we get there, as long as we get there. The SFA is incompetent. They have been for years.

25 Jun 2026 08:32:49
We simply did not show up for this World Cup at all. Granted Clarke's tactics were wrong for every game, but the players have to take responsibility also for very poor performances. It's as if they thought just getting there was good enough. These lads had a chance to do something special, something no Scotland squad has done & they let themselves down.

We are much better than what we have produced, & blew the chance to prove it to the world. I am gutted, esp when teams like Haiti, Cape Verde etc all gave it a go. Very very disappointed.

I've got to say, all the big game players like McTominay, McGinn, Robertson have let us down badly. 2 very costly mistakes by experienced pros like McKenna thinking he was Beckenbaur and Robertson trying to pass to McGinn when there's a Brazil player between them, that's 2 of our more experienced players. McTominay had 3 chances and that was all he done the whole match, then when we need 1 goal Clark subs Doak off the only guy on the pitch capable of beating a man, then he brings on the Adams and Curtis and finally takes of McGinn and instead of leaving Shankland on and going for it he takes him off.

Catastrophic decisions by experienced pro's and the same old from the manager.

Roy Keane's comments on McGinn looking like he got it spot on.

Tierney, Ferguson, McLean, Patterson only guys with pass marks. Shankland starved of service and support.
Too many empty jerseys from guys who were "superstars" in qualifying.

Let's be honest, we were very lucky to qualify for the last couple of Euros, it was penalties in play-offs.
As to this time, Clarke did not have a clue, but when we have situations like taking 3 GK's who have been lucky to play half a dozen games between them last season, & CB's who are the same, our defence is a shambles.

Time to give younger players a chance, but will Clarke do that? Very unlikely, but they can't be any worse.

25 Jun 2026 08:53:14
I thought McTominay was woeful last night. Just when you need a bit of magic, he wasn't in the game at all. You're needing folk like that to show up and shine, and he completely shrunk into himself. McGinn wasted on a wing. Clarke's tactics are baffling at times.

25 Jun 2026 09:01:26
"McKenna thinking he was Beckenbauer." ?

25 Jun 2026 09:16:11
Realistically, it was the hardest group, but at least go out trying to win. Another 4 years of this.

25 Jun 2026 09:34:23
Quite simply, 3 shots on target in 3 games is indicative of how poor we are.

25 Jun 2026 09:55:20
Or how poor we set up also.

25 Jun 2026 10:15:12
We never qualified with Kenny, Souness, Gemmill and Jordon, and tbh, although made a lot easier, we won't qualify with this lot. Since 74, we have been glorious nearly"'s, and the lack of quality in depth is what's caused the issue. Only watched the second half, and it seemed we were trying to walk the ball into the net. ??

25 Jun 2026 10:16:27
I've never seen such a dour faced manager in all my life. Imagine shaving that face every morning.

25 Jun 2026 10:25:22
The last 3 tournaments, 2 Euro and this, 9 games played, 1 win, is it 2 goals scored.

25 Jun 2026 10:30:57
66% of teams at the WC qualify for the knockout stages.
32 out of 48 teams.
Glorious failures spring to mind, even though we have the slightest chance.
South Africa beating South Korea didn't help.

25 Jun 2026 10:31:55
Need pace and the manager doesn't understand it, Burke is one of the quickest in Germany but not considered. We have a coach that is desperate to give Ralston and others minutes who are not getting a game at club level.

Then what we have seen is what we will get from now on. Brazil thought let them have the ball and watch them mess up and they did. FIFA please enforce a British side and end the pain.

25 Jun 2026 12:32:35
A 2 or 3 goal win over Haiti would have given us a good enough G.D to qualify. This is where qualification was lost if we do ultimately fail. We knew the other two games would be beyond us, and the fact we got away with a 1-0 defeat by Morocco was a miracle, so last night was no surprise.

Clarke has no idea how to set up a team to get forward in transition from a well set up defence.
