It's finally official from the club.
Warm welcome to the new Rangers manager - McInnes.
Not my first choice, but like I said about Shankland, an easy decision for the club hierarchy.
Especially with the remit / parameters that appeal to a lot of fans even though it's 2026.
Rangers minded. ✅
Scottish✅
Affinity with the club✅
Now it's all about delivering everything else the fans crave.
Titles, domestic cups and eventually holding in our own in Europe at a decent level.

4th manager in a year, mate, so let's hope this is the one who'll be with us for at least 5 years and gives us success.
I think he'll stay even if approached by, say, a Spurs or a Villa.
I think he wants to set a legacy here and possibly leave us for n 5/6 years.
Maybe manage Scotland and retire a happy man. Forget EPL.
AC will back him. He will be a success, of that I've no doubt.
Even if he doesn't win the league, it will be a very very close call between him and Oneil.

I agree with you, Stevie G. ? I think Derek McInnes, if successful, will stay with Rangers for probably the rest of his club, managerial career and well beyond his current 3 year deal that he's signed as our manager. ? He's got the job now he's always wanted/craved more than any other and when McInnes does eventually finish up at Rangers years down the line, I honestly only see him possibly being the Scotland national team manager after that, as he's always stated that he'd want to manage his country later on in his managerial career.
? This of course at last might well be us got stability, continuity with McInnes now in charge, that we've badly needed. ? ??

4th head coach but first manager since Gerrard. Rangers don't need a tactical genius. They need someone to show them the way. Rohl was never first choice for this reason. I am not a McInnes fan but he's a manager and knows the club. Let's see how this plays out. Worst case scenario is that we would give Rohl the same time and then sack him.

Everyone absolutely has their own opinions, Ausbear, but I think Derek McInnes is exactly what Rangers need as a manager at this moment in time, mate. ? I think he'll be a good appointment for us and offers stability at last. ???

Stevie, so if he doesn't win the league, do we give him another year? What's so special about McInnes that allows him more time than we give to others?
18 Jun 2026 08:32:31
You're spot on, Sir Walter, another one of us living the dream. All the best, Boss.
18 Jun 2026 08:36:36
The reason for giving Derek time is that the last few years of constant change of managers and complete back room staff has done nothing to provide success. Why not aim for stability and build something lasting?
Has to be worth a try, right?

For me, it's going to be down to the performance and attitude he will instill into our players. Those who don't conform will be out. We, as fans, need to be a little more patient also. Time will tell.
18 Jun 2026 08:39:48
No geesa, he doesn't win the league, he's immediately sacked and we appoint another, then we continue winning nothing.
18 Jun 2026 09:10:33
imo. McInnes is a mistake, an appeasement appointment.
His back room team are even more uninspiring.
I was looking forward to start of last season under RM (who I wasn't keen on) more than I am this one under DM.
Recruitment will have to be brilliant to turn this around.
18 Jun 2026 09:35:56
I wouldn't say it's the job McInnes always craved when he has knocked us back previously. Nothing changes imo if he doesn't get off to a winning start, qualify for Europa etc, he'll be under pressure right away, and our support won't be slow in telling him where to go.
18 Jun 2026 09:58:21
Foolmonty, and that support is the exact reason we go trophies less.
18 Jun 2026 10:21:10
We don't sack McKinnes if he doesn't win the league. To do so is moronic. If we don't win, it's the manner of the failure that would decide his fate. With McKinnes, his team will give it maximum, so no way he gets sacked. Hopefully we just win it. It won't be for the lack of trying from this man.
18 Jun 2026 11:00:59
I don't see McInnes getting chased out early. He'll get 3 years if there is clear progression.
I'm very confident DM will do very well.

Foolmonty, read the report about McInnes allegedly turning the job down in 2017, mate. ? The truth apparently is he didn't.
