EHL got me thinking when he posted earlier that Danny Rohl's plan is to develop young findlay Curtis as a no.8 as opposed to a winger/wide player ?I actually have thought for a while now that findlay Curtis could be superb as a no.10 and possibly this might well be his best position ?So would you be so kind to run a poll regarding the excitement we all have regarding our very own young findlay Curtis ?My poll being ie.what do we think is findlay Curtis best position from what we've seen of him so far a winger/wide player, a no.10 attacking midfielder, a no.8 midfielder or another position ? Cheers ED and as always very much appreciated pal ?

Curtis Position poll

I remember when he broke through, somebody was admitted he would be a right back longer term.
Not sure what his best position is, but I'm glad he's our player.

Curtis played behind the striker for all youth levels, scored lots of goals. Big Phil Clement instructed the coaches to put Curtis wide to aid his development. He was always going to play inside again at some point.

Correct on all accounts, Bunster.

Think Curtis would be brilliant having freedom in midfield.

Can't develop a player in a position if you put him out on loan and therefore have no control over him!
Do people actually believe this. ???

The modern wide player doesn't stay wide and behave like an old fashioned winger. They tend to cut inside on to their stronger foot and occupy a number 10 position. This is why Gerrard often said Rangers played with two number 10s. They occupy that space.
If Rangers play a 4-3-3 next season (which I suspect will be the case if we finally get a number 6 through the door), then Curtis on the wide left could be great.
He can come inside, get into the opposition box, and get goals for us. That's the exact job Mikey Moore did for us. We have a ready made replacement in Curtis.

You can develop a player overall though, look how much he's developed since he's been at Kilmarnock.

Who mentioned you could, Yer Maws Maw? Believe what?

He needs more minutes to play as an 8 imho. Playing him off the side with an attacking FB wanting to run the line would be best for him to continue his development inside one.

I've said 10 since I first saw him play. I still feel that now, if you don't play with a 10 then yeah, I can see him as an attack minded 8. He's clearly flexible as we've seen with all the roles he's played in the last year especially at Killie.

As a player who wants to create an extra yard to cross with either foot, then, certainly at the moment, playing wide would work. He is also comfortable coming inside to take on a shot and also wants to get on the end of things. He is not flamboyant, but is certainly effective. Level headed and hard working too.

Players change positions often. Who would have thought ab academy goalkeeper would have become our highest scoring defender.
