I'll start by saying, I have no idea if Rohl should continue being our manager or not, also I really don't know if I want him too or not. I will say I'm not fully in the 'sack him immediately camp' as I believe the collapse since the split is mainly down to the players. We have seen since the start of the season that a large chunk of them do not have the mental strength to play for this club, however at the same time a great number of them seem to think that they are 'better than' playing for Rangers and were simply using us as a stepping stone (good luck with that after this seasons showing). So that in itself is a terrible mix and it's no surprise they have collapsed the way they have. The majority just don't seem to care enough and we've all seen that.
What I would ask is, if we were to sack Rohl, what standard of manger do people actually think we'd be able to attract?
Last season we sacked Clement, and after months of searching, being apparently turned down by Gerrard, all we could get was Martin. We rightly sack him as he is woeful, annd are turned down by Gerrard yet again, then apparently turned down by Muscat and end up appointing Rohl (so as it appears our 3rd choice). We are now in just as poor a state (if not worse) than last summer. Gerrard has stated he doesn't want a 'project' for his next managerial role, he wants a stable established team, so he isn't coming. And those suggesting we need to get an experienced, high profile manager do you really see them cueing up to manage us?

I would approach McInnes asap.

Yup. McInnes all day long. Rohl out.

McInnes would probably be good. However, I honestly don't think he'd want it, not at the moment anyway. Pretty sure he'd want to see how far he can take Hearts after this season's showing. That's what I'm trying to say. Those thinking we are an attractive prospect may need to think again.

McInnes for me. Great man manager is what we need right now. He also isn't scared to speak up about the refs, which is another thing we need right now. And he'll know exactly what players we need to take us to the next level and win again in Scotland.

We can change manager after manager - The main issue we have is the type character and mentality of the players we have bought for last 10 years or so - until that cycle stops we will not progress - winners/leaders/those who Hate to get beaten/and players who will fight till the last second of every game/players with true character - We need to find these type or its same old same old - no more mercenaries who don't care win or lose.

BF, I agree to an extent. I would add you can change player after player as well. The demands of playing for the club are different from most other clubs whom we can afford to buy players from. It seems, as history shows, that most take a while to get used to those demands and some never do. So give a group time to adapt, keep the best out of them and add a new batch. Then we might have a team who have developed the character.
From then on you are adding 2 or 3 to a group who are already there, and they have time within that to develop and grow. Players showing them how to adapt and play here.
Manager will be the same, but we never give him more than a year so new players are brought in for every one and we start again. I can't be the only one who isn't surprised that this strategy doesn't work and imo will never work.

I'll share something I was told last night with one and all. ? I was actually told by a guy I know who was actually at the Falkirk game yesterday that Steven Gerrard will be our new manager for the start of next season and Danny Rohl will remain under Gerrard as his assistant.
? Also that Gerrard's backroom team will have a former Rangers player in it and talks have already taken place. ? Now hard to believe but only passing on what I was told and sharing with everyone. ?

Surely not Walter, but we definitely need a change. With Rohl it ain't working.

People shouting for McInnes. We could have had him years ago, and Shankland. Too late for Shankland, and how could McInnes turn his back on Hearts? Not happening. Move on. First, DR for next season. Second, sell Raskin, the rest will fall into place.

Now the season is over, what I will say is Gillespie, Thornton met two out of work managers in London since the Old Firm game.
imo they would not have acted without approval from Cavanagh.

That's interesting, John, considering Rohl has been given the backing today.
This suggests we were considering a change and either decided against it or they didn't want to come?
