For me it was the Dortmund games. Unfortunately, we never pushed on after that season when we should have. Every cloud has a silver lining tho. If indeed we finish 3rd and the Conference League. We may just go on another European run again. Lately I don't believe we're in that bad of a position. Look at pros and cons, starting with the cons: we're not going to win the league and may finish 3rd. Squad simply ain't good enough. Danny took over a squad with zero confidence. Now look at the pros.
We have a new wealthy owner willing to invest in infrastructure, squad. With finances within UEFA rules, we may have an 8 to 10m transfer kitty. Then add in the 16m share issue, which Cavanagh said some will go into the squad, then add in a possible big player sale, and if reinvested into the squad we may have the biggest transfer budget in the club's history. I get it's disappointing at the moment, but I for 1 am ever the optimistic and believe we will be back to our best very soon.

What were we when he came in 12/13 points behind Hearts? And we are now 7 points behind him. So it's not as great as made out, but even though I have doubts about DR, as we still have no style of play, I'm hoping once he gets more players in that changes next season.
He does deserve another season, though he must win next Sunday or it's another big game he has failed. Normally I would call the game next weekend a dead rubber, but we can still stop them winning the league, so for me it isn't this time.

Davie, I'm also optimistic. But it's going to need a few new signings that must hit the ground running and have the mentality to succeed. We can't afford to be signing players for development. That can be done gradually over time. For me, we need 3 from 5 back players: GK, RB, RCB, LCB, LB.
Midfield, we need 2 from 3: a general and a playmaker: RM, CM, LM.
Upfront, we need 2 from 3: a poacher and an out and out striker: RW, CF, LW.
I would like to see a couple of experienced players that have been successful either in the UK or Europe signed to help the younger ones. When the going gets tuff, Ah ken this is all dependent on what funds are available. But we need to win something. Hopefully the league next season. ?? ??

Good posts, I'd like a GK (I like Butland but not good with ball at his feet) 1RB (possibly 2 depending on Sterling) 2 CBs (perhaps 3 if Manny goes) experienced CM/CDM (possibly Capt too) maybe another CM depending on sales but I'd like Barron to get vastly improved game time. LM x2 & RM x 2 (who can play wings if needed), but I'd go 4-4-2 or a 4-1-3-2 & a decent ST goalscorer 2 if possible (I'm greedy.
?) Out of all them I'd love to see at least 3-4 Scottish lads. McLean I'd be delighted with. Think he would fit perfectly with experience & capt. McCrorie would be good, shouldn't have let him go & he covers a few positions. Graham good option at back. Someone mentioned Doak, I would love to see him in a Gers shirt, least we would then have a wide player who takes guys on & pushes the line.

I know it's a long shot.
If Motherwell take points of Hearts on Saturday, we could still win the League when we rock up at Celtic on Sunday.
Definitely not a dead rubber, regardless.
All it takes is for Hearts to only take 1 point of Motherwell and Falkirk, and it could be an interesting final match if we beat Celtic and Hibs.
I know, I need my head examined. ?

I think looking back at this season most would agree that given the terrible start under Russell Martin there has been an excellent recovery and one which not many of us saw coming.
So, I think the least Danny deserves is to get a chance to get some of the players he wants into the squad.
My hope is that we won't be getting too many loan players in - no continuity and constant rebuilding does us no favours.

So we have a team who were preconditioned for Martins' style of play, but Rohl wants them to push harder. No doubt that's led to the mild injuries we are seeing. Very few players capable of playing with intensity for 90 mins are what's letting us down.
If all players were fit, I believe we would have seen different starting 11s most of the last 5 games.
We need to get recruitment and preseason right.
