Just a short note to thank our Skipper for his service to our Club. He has undoubtedly been terrific value for the money we paid for him. Go out and win this league James, and, all the best to you and your Family in the future, you'll always be welcome at Rangers.

Well said Irvger.

All the very best Tav, once a Ranger!

22 Apr 2026 18:57:29
Yes, I thank Tav for his service, but imo he's nowhere near a legend. People like John Brown, Butcher, Gough McCoist and Hateley are legends in my eyes. We have turned Tav into a multi millionaire, and he should have been shown the door the same time as Goldson. His 3 domestic trophies are in stark contrast to the 32 odd he has contested.

Also, imo he was never captain material; his regular post match interviews after defeat, where he says we will learn from this, were cringing. Never mind, we have more important things to occupy our thoughts starting on Sunday.

But you can't hold Tav responsible for only winning 3 trophies. It's also the side around him not good enough. Rangers as a club are spending the money on all the wrong players. His numbers for the club are unmatched. Right back with an assist in the league every 3 games and a goal every 3 games.

Butcher also not a Rangers legend either, I don't think.

22 Apr 2026 19:26:18
Absolutely agree with you, irvger. Nicely put.

To add, he gave lots of young kids growing up when he arrived at our club at a very difficult time in our history, a Rangers player to idolise through the years, with his terrific goals and assists.

Record breaking Right Back.
Legend in every sense of the word in my book.
I'll always remember him fondly.
Thanks for the memories, Tav.
Good luck with your future. Come back to visit the club any time you want, you'll always be welcome.

Like most, I think he is at least 2 years late on leaving but wish him all the best and hopefully with a medal after winning the title this season.

A heartfelt post, Irvgerr.

I find it very touching, as I know you are like me and saw Rangers play in the 1960's.

Despite the personal faults Tav may have, I think he is due a rousing send off in his last game for us.

He should always be welcomed back to Ibrox.

22 Apr 2026 19:44:17
Paul, I know it wasn't all Tav's fault we are only 1 trophy ahead of St Johnstone over the last 11 years, but imo he wasn't good enough either. All his goals really amounted to nothing as a captain. I don't really think he could drive the team forward, like the last couple of Celtic captains did.

22 Apr 2026 19:55:49
He drove us to a Euro final did he not? Getting passed some great sides.

22 Apr 2026 21:02:20
Butcher is a legend in my eyes and in most I would say, him and Gough are the best two CBs that played for the club.

22 Apr 2026 21:56:12
Tav definitely a Rangers legend for me, he's only the highest goal scoring defender ever in British football. ???

23 Apr 2026 06:56:16
So did others in that team also, Paul. You can't give him plaudits for getting to the Euro final on his own, the same way you can't blame him solely for 3 trophies in his time. It works both ways, which some of you seem to forget.

I know I'll get backlash from this, etc. He is the highest scoring defender in the UK because he takes pens. Over 50% were pens, and I know you need to score them, but it's still true.

What about his assists also, Storm? ? Ally McCoist and Kris Boyd took penalties and it's in their goal tally correctly, so ? Two superb strikers in McCoist and Boyd, but couldn't hit a better free kick like Tav, mate. ?
