My apologies one Walter I have just seen your question.

My position remains unchanged in regards to Jens Hjertø-Dahl.
I have never been truly confident due to level of other clubs interested.

However knowing Remi i know that Jens will be receiving outstanding advice for the good of his career long term.

I would caveat by being honest and saying If I was an agent I would be advising players to steer clear of Rangers.

20 Mar 2026 08:48:28
Aph, why would you say that? Playing in front of 50, 000 fans every other week. Going for titles, cups. Regulars in European football. So, tell me, why would an agent advise a player to stay clear of Rangers?

20 Mar 2026 08:52:54
Davie, read even the small sample of these pages, and it is self-explanatory.

20 Mar 2026 09:08:27
Sorry, Davie, that was short.

I will explain my point in a little more detail, whilst trying to negate a pile on.

I have stated that I would advise against it, because Rangers currently is not a conducive environment for development.

Why would any agent looking after a player recommend moving to Rangers, when, having moved to a new country, new club and new systems, you do not adapt and settle immediately, and you have 50, 000 baying for blood.

You have 50, 000+ supporters, and a media engine decrying you as a flop after a few hundred minutes of football.

Players are written off after less than 7 matches as failures, and you have thousands on your back, or saying the club should look to move on and cut off.

So, Davie, can you please tell me why any agent who cares about the mental well-being of the player they represent would recommend Rangers?

Resilience and mental strength in players is a key attribute, but when a player moves to a new country in an area alien to them, they are inherently vulnerable.

Because it's a stepping stone to the Premier League, and if you can handle the pressure at Rangers, you can handle it there. That's simple, mate.

Rangers, there are proven pathways through mainland Europe and Germany to get to the big 5 leagues.

Roony Bardghi moved directly from FC Kobenhavn to FC Barcelona.

No one has done that in Glasgow since Henrik Larsson.

Granted, Tierney moved direct to Arsenal, but I can't remember the last Rangers player to move direct to a title-challenging team.

20 Mar 2026 09:48:23
Spot on, Rfc.

20 Mar 2026 10:26:24
Unfortunately, you're right. We haven't had many because of poor recruitment and the Scottish youth system. Bassey did move to Ajax after one good season, for a recent example. Others have used Scotland as a stepping stone, maybe not to the top teams but certainly to top leagues. Van Dyke wasn't too bad. Southampton bought a few from up here, including Aribo.

Granted, Celtic have done better at it because they have been more successful, but there's no reason we can't do similar. Our kids are getting snapped up like Gilmour was. In January, Arsenal and Spurs signed Scots kids. If anything, the pathway here is getting blocked because they are all being wanted elsewhere.

As Aphe says, though, an agent's primary goal is to protect a player's long-term career value and mental well-being, both of which could currently be argued to be at high risk in the high-pressure environment at Ibrox. Despite the potential for a move to a "top 5" league, an agent might advise against joining Rangers right now for several critical reasons:

Fans are "baying for blood" and have little patience for anything less than instant success. If a player doesn't hit the ground running, their market value can plummet as they are quickly labelled "dead weight" or "not good enough".

Limited "Stepping Stone" Success: Rangers have recently struggled to make significant profits on player trading, with many high-outlay signings failing to become key players or be sold on for a profit.

So, agents look for stability and clear pathways, which, it hurts me to say, are both currently perceived as lacking at the club.

Kaiser, I understand that, my friend. Unfortunately, that happens everywhere.

My point being is, people can't use the stepping stone argument when the facts don't add up.

Aph may I ask where fans don't go over the top with criticism especially if expected to challenge for trophies? I love listening to phone ins etc and players everywhere get stick not to mention social media garbage. Should they avoid England then? Turkish fans are mental. The French have had fan issues. Don't recall players here getting pigs heads thrown at them like in Spain who have their own ultra groups as do Italian clubs.

Fans are crazy everywhere so maybe best just to go to some middle of the road team perhaps in Germany where only one team is expected by their fans to win, though I'm sure they also fill out their stadiums with passionate fans. Where else do u suggest? South America perhaps. Or just need to go to Saudi league where no one watches so won't be criticised.

Thank you, Angus. I am glad someone has understood fully.

Poor Skov is vulnerable? I'm sure his huge wages will help cushion that. He needs to get his finger out and step up, that's what good players do. Or will his move to Rangers be seen as another bad move, just like his last club? When does the player start to be held accountable? It sounds like if you were an agent, you wouldn't advise players to go to Rangers because of the fans, Aph, the same fans that have always been here, basically sang our way to a European final, 50, 000 every other week when we were down the league's.

Us fans haven't been signing any of the dross we've been hit with over the past 15 years, we're sick to the back teeth of failure and our club being run poorly, and that might be spilling out onto the players. Big deal. Every club in the world's fans will criticise players being brought in on high wages if they're not performing, show me a club that doesn't. Can you explain what Roony's move to Barcelona had to do with the discussion?

20 Mar 2026 12:10:35
Okay, Aphe, are you actually being serious with that response?

I get you are a tad upset that people have written off Olsen after 7 games. It really seems to bother you, as you were (rightfully so, imo) effusive in your praise for what he would do for Rangers, and I was too. But you have to understand that people on here are only a tiny fraction of Rangers fans, and there will be many who haven't written him off (me, still).

I am well aware that he has to up his game to earn himself a move here. More effort and work rate from him, as Angus alluded to in a prior post, would go a long way to getting some back on his side too.

20 Mar 2026 12:18:17
Bbj, this post was in direct response to a question about a young Norwegian player.

This is nothing to do with being upset about anything.

20 Mar 2026 12:49:58
Aphe, I get it was about Dahl, bud but you have repeatedly now stated.

"Players are written off after less than 7 matches as failures, and you have thousands on your back, or saying the club should look to move on and cut off."

I assume in response to Olsen.

But to come on a Rangers forum and state that we are not an attraction and should avoid us because of that belief is nonsensical. As Kaiser and BB4 have touched on above, it happens everywhere, and if players can't handle the expectation of playing for a club of our size, then maybe their agents shouldn't recommend us.

But how many agents only care about how much they can make off of players?

Not every player that plays in Scotland will move directly to Barcelona of the world, but getting a move to a big 5 league is still a foot in the door for them to show their talent, and then be snapped up.

20 Mar 2026 14:42:05
That is just pure nonsense, and all because Olsen is getting it in the neck, and this site has no barring on any Rangers player whatsoever.

20 Mar 2026 14:58:20
Bbj, since when did agents look out for players? There honestly must be a few in the world, but the rest will send a player anywhere as long as the agent gets the best deal for himself. That's common knowledge. Good point, mate.

20 Mar 2026 15:13:12
Yeah, bang on bb4, I'm sure there are a good few out there, but the rest are driven by what most are £££s.
