I am posting this well aware this may result in a few upset responses.
Now as a very important point, I rarely watch clubs that aren't Rangers but the wife went to bed early tonight so I decided to watch Aberdeen and see how Lyall Cameron is getting on.
Now to the main point, I can see exactly why Cameron wasn't getting game time and why he was sent on loan. The lad seems to resist any defensive duties after the press is broken. Almost cost Aberdeen the game with a half hearted attempt to block a cross in the final minutes. Had a few decent touches and passes but overall extremely ineffective.
An additional note is the pitch was absolutely rotten. More sand and dirt than grass. So I'm aware this may be extremely harsh but I've heard nothing about him since his loan move which in itself suggests he's not done much but I may be wrong and willingly will stand corrected.

Ayrshire, he got MOTM on his debut, but since then I haven't heard how he's doing.

Yeah, I think that was the last thing I heard about him as well, Davie.

Haven't watched them much, but from what I've heard, they've been really pleased with him so far. Maybe just an off night, that and the rest of the team is mince.

He's out on loan getting minutes. He will come back a better player.
Even with his current form, he would still offer more than some of the current squad.

He's had 2 MOTM's since signing. Having watched a few of the games, and with no disrespect, I think that's his level. He's an average player in a poor Aberdeen team.
Completely agree with Ayrshire.
He doesn't seem to have much discipline when it comes to defensive duties, which may tie in with some comments made by Rohl earlier.
He wouldn't offer us any more than anyone in the current squad in his position.

I honestly can see his move to the sheep becoming permanent, I don't think he's rated at Rangers.

I do not believe Cameron has a future at Rangers.

I genuinely thought he'd be good for us, but he hasn't kicked on, really, and is obviously not impressing enough to convince coaches to keep him. We threw the dice on a good young Scot. It doesn't always work, but we should keep doing it.

I hope he can turn things round, John and Baz, but I tend to agree. He hasn't really grasped the chance he had. Still, the right thing is to explore the best potential young Scots, and see how they do. Glad, at the same time, he hasn't just been left rotting.

I don't see Aberdeen paying up for him, so I reckon another loan next season, perhaps south of the border or to a European league, would be better for him. He needs to play in a team where he isn't expected to track back and, maybe with a bit more space and time, he could show more.
I honestly don't think he's a better option than Bajrami, Dio, Chukwuani, Raskin, or even Aasgaard, so he's never getting into that team. I expect he will be sold or loaned out again.

Gassama is exactly the same at Rangers, yet somehow gets plenty of game time.

Bit harsh, given that you've only watched one game. Surely people aren't that quick to judge, especially on a rotten pitch.
No one is saying Cameron is Messi or the savior of Rangers, but the lad certainly has talent and looked good in most games for us.
Then again, there are fans that don't rate Barron or Butland etc., so there literally is no pleasing some people.

Ally, my opinion is based on playing and training for Rangers.

You can't watch one game and write him off. After they beat Motherwell in the cup, he was getting rave reviews. Does that make him great and say we must take him back? No, because again it's only one game.
I don't know what will happen with him and if he has a future, but I hope he gets a chance pre season to show what he can do before a final decision is made.
