There was quite a few times in that first half where Aasgaard was standing still between two Kilmarnock Defenders watching either Diomande / Moore / Raskin dribble forward into pressure. Never provided any support to them at any time. Gassama did it as well. Sometimes I think they don't have the intellect for the game or are just overwhelmed by it all.

I also want to give props to Diomande yesterday, Moore was MOTM but Diomande was everywhere, 88th minute he's in our back left corner defending the ball out for a goal kick. He ran a race yesterday and it's not glamourous so well done.

05 Feb 2026 13:10:58
Exactly my observations, Blue North. Aasgaard often looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights and just doesn't have the heart for it, while Gassama is just lazy.

05 Feb 2026 13:18:33
Aasgaard is an embarrassment. I used to think he looked entirely overwhelmed, now he hides in games. He takes the ball, instantly passing it back, then blends into opponents with no intention of receiving the ball or making a run.

He doesn't want to be there, he is a passenger. Gassama, at least to me, works hard. Diomande and Raskin work so hard. Aasgaard's time is running out, he will be replaced soon.

05 Feb 2026 13:22:14
Never understood why Dio gets such a hard time. Even when things are going against him, he works his a** off for the team.
Thought he played really well last night and had enough shots to justify a goal.

05 Feb 2026 13:28:56
Dcdel, that's what I was thinking last night. I turned to my boy and said, watch Aasgaard. Not looking for the ball, absolutely didn't want it.
Agree with the other observation above.
Gassama could be a great player if he applied himself.

I thought Rommens showed up well. A bit of competition for Meghoma will be good. Thought he looked a bit jaded last night.

Antman tucking in more, giving him options. I really think he could be a big player for us if he gets opportunities.

05 Feb 2026 13:48:30
If it was me, I would play a midfield 3 of Dio, Raskin and Moore. Dio sitting, Raskin and Moore getting forward. I think Raskin is better than Dio at 6, but I think Raskin presses better in higher areas than Dio. I would also play Chermiti left and Skov right of either Miovski or Naderi. Sterling and Rommens overlapping in the wide areas.

05 Feb 2026 13:54:21
Diomande is our only cm that breaks the lines and gets in behind.

05 Feb 2026 14:10:11
He's not the only cm that gets in behind though, is he, or have you missed Raskin getting in behind?

Raskin 3 goals, 7 assists.
Dio 2 goals, 2 assists.

Yeah mate, Dio is the only cm that gets in behind. ?‍♂️

05 Feb 2026 14:41:23
Did Raskin not score from set plays? You must watch different games from me, Tuur, or whatever your new username is.

05 Feb 2026 15:06:48
What? Watch different games from you? The stats prove that you are wrong, mate.

Raskin 3 goals, 7 assists.
Dio 2 goals, 2 assists.

Yeah, Raskin may have scored from set plays as well, but his assists are from getting in behind as well.

05 Feb 2026 15:09:08
Is there a difference between getting in behind and providing assists? Could the assists be from passes from MF, i.e. in front? Is that a pass from in behind?

Belgian manager thinks he is a number 6; Danny Rohl thinks he is a number 6, and Raskin himself thinks he is a number 6. Now, who will I take the opinion of? ? Difficult, I know.

05 Feb 2026 15:25:36
Stats prove nothing about Diomande, the only CM getting in behind. Raskin goals came from set plays.

05 Feb 2026 15:37:12
Stats prove nothing ?? except Raskin gets in behind and attacks better than Dio.

What about Raskin's assists? Where did they come from?

So, if Dio gets in behind more, then what about Raskin's assists? Only 2 goals and 2 assists. ??

05 Feb 2026 15:43:18
So, if Dio gets in behind more, then what is he doing when he gets in behind? Only 2 goals and 2 assists. ??

05 Feb 2026 15:47:37
We clearly watch different games.

05 Feb 2026 15:53:53
You clearly do, otherwise you would have seen Raskin's 7 assists from getting in behind. ?

05 Feb 2026 16:01:27
Angus Raskin is a 6, mate, he's just better at attacking than Dio, as the stats prove.

Raskin's assists are from in behind as well, good effort at playing devil's advocate though. ?

05 Feb 2026 16:11:54
Raskin 3 goals, 7 assists.
Dio 2 goals, 2 assists.

Only clue you need, mate. ?

05 Feb 2026 16:30:45
Tuur, the issue is that all managers and Raskin want him to play as the number 6, so it doesn't matter if you think he should play as an 8 or if, indeed, he does have more assists. Also, assists don't necessarily mean he gets in behind, as passes could come from deeper.

So argue all you want about it, as unless someone at the club sees the tactical brilliance, then it won't happen.

05 Feb 2026 16:39:28
My memory isn't as great as it used to be, but aren't 2 of Raskin's goals from corners?

Not sure what the stats have to do with this current disagreement, but I will say that I've seen Raskin inside the opposition box more than Dio. I feel he takes more risks than Dio. Raskin has been burnt on the counter a few times more.

05 Feb 2026 16:45:52
Angus, we seen the shots Diomande had last night, and that says he gets in behind more than Raskin. He's more capable further forward as well. Raskin is good at driving forward with the ball. I really can't remember Raskin ever getting in behind very much in a game.

05 Feb 2026 16:52:19
Diomande breaks the lines far more than Raskin does, Blue.

05 Feb 2026 17:16:29
Raskin is far more attack minded and better in attack than Dio. Look at the stats.

Raskin 3 goals, 7 assists.
Dio 2 goals, 2 assists.

What does Dio do when he breaks those lines? Obviously nothing. ??

I would play Raskin as a 6, but because Dio is useless as an 8 (see stats), then Raskin has to play as an 8.

The stats don't lie. ?

You can't remember Raskin getting in behind? Just off the top of my head, Parkhead for Chermiti.

05 Feb 2026 17:18:43
That wasn't put over well. Raskin, when driving with the ball, gets in behind.

05 Feb 2026 20:25:23
Diomande makes countless runs into the box, Arfield-type runs, and isn't always found. Raskin has also played a lot more mins than Diomande this season. If I had to pick one to be more advanced, it's Diomande.

Raskin gets up the park plenty as well, but it's more in passages of play he's involved with 1-2s, etc., as opposed to darting runs from midfield in behind the centre halves, and I think that's what Star is referring to.

That's what I see anyway.

06 Feb 2026 11:53:29
Tav, you see the same as me, mate. Many times, I don't actually put across what I'm meaning.

06 Feb 2026 13:56:45
SPFL only:
60% of Raskin's successful passes are in the opposition half.
Raskin has had 24 attempts from inside the box.
Raskin's expected assists is 3.4 - he's achieved 5.
Raskin's expected goals is 3.5 - he's achieved 2.
Raskin has created 5 big chances.
65% of Diomande's successful passes are in the opposition half.

Diomande has had 11 attempts from inside the box.
Diomande's expected assists is 0.9 - he's achieved 2.
Diomande's expected goals is 2.55 - he's achieved 1.
Diomande has created 1 big chance.
The heatmap for both players shows that Raskin is in the opposition box more than Diomande.

06 Feb 2026 15:58:36
I don't think the stats reflect what his point is, though. Raskin could spend time in the box without necessarily "breaking lines". I know Raskin is in the box loads, I've seen it. Diomande makes runs from deep in behind the defenders. He may not always receive the ball, and it may not even mean he's received the ball in the opposition box if the defenders are high when he makes those runs, but he certainly makes them more than Raskin.

It's not necessarily a negative point about Raskin, they are just different players. Raskin moves up the park with the play, so when we have possession and are attacking, he inevitably ends moves further up the pitch and in the opposition box. Like I said, that's just how I see it, and that's why I know what Star is talking about.

06 Feb 2026 16:00:16
That's that settled then. ?
