Fernandez had more shots at goal than our 2 strikers – Miovski & Chermiti – combined.
Chermiti twice had the chance to shoot that I can remember but instead choose to try and thread the ball through the eye of a needle.
That to me says he isn't a natural striker.
Gassama had ONE cross all game and NO shots at goal.
Olsen had ONE successful cross from 3 attempts and one shot at goal.
Moore had ZERO accurate crosses and two attempts at goal.
Bajrami in his 20-minute cameo had ONE successful cross from 5 and ONE shot at goal.
Miovski had THREE touches of the ball in his 11 minutes with one shot at goal.

That says it all.
We have tightened up at the back.
But none of our creative players do enough.
Our strikers don't create space for themselves.
At one time ( Olsen I think ) played a ball into the Hibs box that had 5 Hibs players and not a blue jersey in site.
I've said all window that we need a creative midfielder and a striker who will act like a selfish striker.
We are still in this title race. But that easily change.
Before we face Celtic on the 1st of March we have Killie, Motherwell, Hearts & Livi.
We need 12 points from these fixtures to still be in this title race.

MPH, i still have confidence. Skov Olson was always going to need time to get up to speed unfortunately he can't arrive as prime Gareth Bale.

I agree that our midfield creativity is sorely lacking but Danny has already alluded to a clean sheet mentality.
My interpretation is defence first.

I do believe that this approach will work and now we are out of Europe Danny will have more time to work on attacking plays.

I think Chermiti should play off the left hand side and 2 new number 9s to be signed over the next 2 windows.

I honestly think Naderi will be a great piece of business.
Miovski I don't think will ever be good enough so potentially need 3 new 9s over the next 2 windows.

Oliver Antman as an 8/10 could be that creative piece of the jigsaw.
It may be worth trying these.

I think ourselves Hearts and Celtic will drop points up to the end of the season.
Our defence is looking a lot more assured.
Fernandez was outstanding.
However we need more from the front line.

Interesting stats as usual MrPotatohead.

When I watch how DR sets up games, it's all about self preservation and making sure we do not get beat. Yes, that is paramount, but when it comes to scoring goals, we are seriously lacking in that department.

For me, the result outweighs the performance, but there is always a big risk to that. Any team who sets up to keep it tight at the back, but have a laboured approach when attacking, will always run the risk of not getting the win.

We are seriously lacking in any fast, attacking and direct football, which means teams have plenty of time to get back into their defensive shape and stifle our attack. What's the point of playing a striker when there is no service?

I like DR, but he has to take a long hard look at how he is approaching games. It's not just this with him, there is other stuff. Why play such a strong starting 11 on Thursday knowing we had a difficult game yesterday. Why drop Dio yesterday when he has shown lately that our midfield is more dynamic with him in it? Why let Curtis leave on loan when he was quite clearly showing more promise than Gassama?

Yesterday's showing was not the sign of a club going for a league title. We were playing a Hibs team who have been really poor recently, and who were playing without their 2 best players. They should have won that game, and beat us!

If we continue on like this, then it only ends one way. If we play like this against Motherwell, they will beat us, and quite convincingly so.

I've been saying for ages now we need a creative mid to create for the strikers and wingers.

02 Feb 2026 11:28:32
Aph when is Antman going to get mins in this role as he's being unused for guys that are coming in and doing little . Bajrami, Curtis sent out.

02 Feb 2026 11:29:28
Antman, Miovski amd Chermiti all absolutely miles off standard required.

02 Feb 2026 11:31:51
Rohl is also somehow persisting with Aasgaard. Few fancy touch amd flicks doesn't make him good enough. Game just passes him by. Only have to look at sort of numbers nygren putting in over the city.

02 Feb 2026 11:35:11
Good info MPH, l just hope it clicks soon, l think and hope our new recruits will get the shooting boots and twinkle toe footwear on soon, here's hoping, we cannot afford many slip ups.

02 Feb 2026 11:35:53
Can't disagree with that Sunshine.
Would have kept one of our own - Curtis - and gave him more game time than some of the others.
Always said I would have rather developed Curtis than Moore.
And like you I would happily take a 1-0 win every week over a fancy 3-1.

But we just don't have the strikers to take an opportunity when it arises. back to tippy tappy at the edge of the box.
We got away with a point yesterday.

02 Feb 2026 11:53:01
Sunshine so for the past 2 seasons plus Martin's start everyone was saying fix defense first & make sure we don't concede silly goals, Rohl has achieved that except in Europe. So now we have to change the approach cause of 1 result.

Why play a strong 11 on Thursday? Because there is still money to play for plus coefficient points that Scotland sorely need.

Curtis isn't more promising than Gassama who's played out of position since Rohl came in, last I check Monaco weren't trying to sign Curtis & the only team interested in Curtis was Killie. Does Curtis have potential? Yes but don't pretend he's this brilliant player that's been absolutely unplayable when the opposite is true, he's had plenty of opportunities & he hasn't took them (Clement, Ferguson, Martin & now Rohl have given him chances).

02 Feb 2026 11:56:38
Bajrami was looking really good before injury. Think he's far better in the 10 roll than Aasgaard or Antman.

02 Feb 2026 12:32:34
The coefficient points meant the square root of sod all in the grand scheme of things, so your point is pretty worthless.

Haha! So, just because Monaco are in for Gassama means that Curtis has less value to the team?! Yip, you know what you're talking about. ?

Also, why can't we fix both problems? Is that too much, DJB?!

02 Feb 2026 12:58:56
Careful with the common sense DJB - doesn't fit some fans narrative that after a draw (Easter Road always a difficult place to go) that the leagues done, Rohl should be sacked, Olsen is useless etc etc. .

02 Feb 2026 13:20:24
Define a successful cross because I didn't see one chance created from any of them.

02 Feb 2026 13:25:20
Aph, i agree on Skov but must say i'm still worried he looks far removed from player i remember stint in Germany has been terrible for him by look of it.

02 Feb 2026 13:47:08
Apparently because Monaco are in for Gassama, that makes him more valuable to the team than Curtis.
Gassama – cost £2.2 million.
Gassama – 24 starts ( 19 appearances ), 2 goals, 2 assists from 53 chances.

Gassama – 4% goal conversion.
Gassama – 15% accurate crosses.
Curtis – one of our own.
Curtis – 1 start ( 11 appearances ), 1 goal, 0 assists from 9 chances.
Curtis – 11% goal conversion.
Curtis – 29% accurate crosses.

02 Feb 2026 13:52:51
Paul, spot on with both posts, nygren has 15 goals, as many as our 3 strikers combined but its all down to those pesky midfielders and wingers creating nothing, if they were he would apparently be banging them in, utter nonsense, some refuse to see that Chermiti is hopeless if we win the league it'll no doubt be down to Chermiti's hold up play and if we lose it it'll be down to the lack of chances created for him- here's an idea, if the balls not coming to you how about go and look for it yourself and get involved, he doesn't do that.

02 Feb 2026 14:19:09
Sunshine - to your point about fast attacking football. You're 100% correct.

I watched Koln v Wolfsburg a few days back and was really Impressed by the way Koln 'went to work'. Constant energy all over the park, a real urgency in their play.

It made me reflect on how we very rarely 'go to work'. Too often we are slow, ponderous, and lack any sense of urgency at all.

I'd like to see every player play like they have turned up for a hard days graft. Is that really too much to ask for?

02 Feb 2026 14:34:40
Coefficient points add up to where we play in European competition in future years and that in turn leads to the club earning more money which can be spent on players. if the country coefficient drops lower we might actually end up with our champions only going into the Europa League.

Curtis was never going to start; if he was he would have been starting before now. so then the question is whether he would benefit more from getting 15 minutes or so at end of games for us or playing for another club and starting. Gassama has more financial value at the moment.

both can be fixed but much easier to stop goals going in. doing that has meant we have lost just 1 game, 10 games with clean sheets and despite what people say we have scored 2 or more goals in 9 of 15 games. so despite teams managing to get back in shape we are scoring goals at a rate higher than Motherwell and Hearts who fans think have good forwards. perhaps not the most attractive football but effective in the main.

managers know that midweek European games take it out of players mentally and physically so they try to freshen the team up. so why not put 2 players in who didn't play and have been bought to give the squad more depth.

now we are out of Europe it gives more time on training ground to work on the forward areas and how Rohl wants the team to play. I don't think we are really seeing that at the moment and he is using who we have to play to their strengths. that was another complaint from fans when Clement and Martin were in charge.
