Couple of things need to change before Killie midweek.
Aasgard dropped, he's had enough chances for me. His goals promised a bit of form and I for one was hoping we'd see him turn the corner but he's just a passenger most games.
Souttar being our most creative player. Building from the back is important but someone from our midfield should be taking the ball off him. His distribution is hit and miss and when we ran out of ideas he was starting every move only to advance too far forward and leave us exposed, the wee ball over the top kills us almost every time.
Gassama needs to do more he isn't stretching the game or getting us up the park. Couple of step overs and falling over doesn't cut it. Skov Olsen gets a pass for now but he needs to take his man on and going forward i'm sure he will.
And I felt we needed Dios industry and ball retention and we are a better team when he's in alongside Raskin. Chucky was understandabley out his depth and I felt giving him a full debut against them was a mistake. Would've liked to see him on in the 60th minute and slowly bed him in.
Moore should start every game for me because at least going forward when he plays he does far more than Gassama, Aasgaard for example. And looks the only player we have that's willing to run at the opponents backline. Or into space in behind.
Something doesn't work. Particularly going forward and its down to Rohl to get goals outta this team. Is it as obvious as playing Strikers that don't score? Or would it even matter if we had a 20 goals striker? If we don't create.
Anyways rant over ? let's hope it was just a bad performance stemming from a Euro hangover. But I feel our troubles run deeper and past results painted over the cracks.
Just hope we don't blow it like previous years, and let a real opportunity slip as we will never have a better option to win a league than this year. I'm worried that we revert to type and suffer the good old after Christmas collapse ?.

Arcade it was just a bad performance and coming off the back of Europe where we got beaten as well makes it harsher especially as we were putting a run of wins together. look at recent results in the league and people will see that. we say most goals are form set pieces but in last 4 games we have scored 10 goals with 2 penalties and 3 set pieces so we do score goals from open play (at similar rates to other teams).
yes Aasgaard who had been playing well needs to give more in these tight games. I agree about Dio and like him in beside Raskin. He is more progressive than Tochi as well currently so gets us forward.
It would be great if our strikers scored more but they don't get chances. now that might eb down to the runs they make but I don't see many balls into the box which they might have got on end of.
the good news was defensively we were decent enough to keep Hibs out. yes they had chances but game is all about goals. and we almost nicked a win but for a couple of inches offside.
I am putting it down to a bad day at the office due to Euro tiredness. just shows we still don't have the squad to make changes and perform the same.

I think Rohl is telling them what he wants and they start the game doing it but revert to type after the other side gets the slightest bit of joy in an attack.

Rangers are a team that cannot attack. James Tavernier needs to start for me. He drives us up the pitch, he gets quality crosses into the opposition box, he can score (he is our top scorer), excellent delivery from a set-piece, etc). We don't play teams of Porto's quality in the SPFL. We do more attacking than we do defending. Sterling offers nothing going forward. We miss Tavernier when he doesn't play.
Diomande is also creative and can get a goal. We missed Diomande and Tavernier yesterday. We desperately need Skov Olson to come good because he looks nowhere near match fit or confident at the moment. Maybe Antman is fit enough to have another shot out on that side, but something needs to change up top.
Miovski is an empty jersey and Chermiti is never a goal scorer. We need another forrward brought in right away.

Don't think Chukwuani looked out of his depth yesterday made plenty of defensive contributions.
His full debut was also against Dundee the week previous.

Agreed. People say we don't create enough and that's why our strikers are the worst ever. Well in 2024/2025, Dessers was the highest scorer whilst also being the highest in goal assists. That means he made his own chances and helped others to score as well. Tavernier, Diomande and Raskin were also in the top 5 for assists. We still have the top assist players here, so blaming them for strikers who don't score isn't true. If chances are not being scored, it's because the strikers are garbage. Everton must have been rubbish at assisting Chermiti to score for 2 years as well. They helped beto get 9 and ndiaye get 8 in youseffs last season but Chermiti somehow couldn't score in 22 games.
It was clear to see v Hibs that without a goalscorer, the league is gone. Danny has done well so far and judging the boy on what he has done so far is easy. He's done well. If he had started the season, we might be miles ahead on points, but remember, Rohl has only been boss for a few months. Finishing second will be ok even though we all want to be 1st. The squad will be totally different at the start of next season. Tav will probably be gone. Raskin sold, Djiga, Meghoma, Moore, Aarons loans ended. Souttar may be captain. Olsen may be signed permanently. Chermiti hopefully gone and forgotten. Let's just see what happens in the next 14 games.

I agree that mikey Moore is our best we have inside in that position and should be starting all our games there ???.

Can't argue with that imo Gassama and Aasagard are giving far too much game time.
I'd have given Bajrami and Curtis a run of games before now and their numbers would have been better than both these guys imo.
Hoping today we sign a striker, goals win games.

Great post Penny ?.

So many times yesterday we got in good positions out wide and there was absolutely no one in the box, or if there was they were surrounded by 2/3 defenders.
There's a few things I reckon we need:
More running from midfield into the box. don't car if we play chukwuani, Rasking, and dio, they should rotate who goes forward and gives the defence something to always consider.
The pace at which we build up play is quite slow, we need to be more decisive and quicker on the ball. And to help that.
We need far more movement from our midfielders when the defenders are on the ball. So many times yesterday our midfield weren't available for the pass from Souttar or Fernando's, but then when we go long, they are also not there to help collect 2nd balls. Meaning they are stuck in no man's land.
I agree that Moore starts every game for me, with Gassama coming of the bench. I'd go with Raskin, dio and chuck in the middle until Barron comes back and then let dio/chuck fight it out.

Arcade i think part of the problem is our fans seem to think we should just turn up to win.
Hibs at Easter Road is never a given.
Hearts are sitting 6 clear at the top and they got beat on 27th December at Easter Road.
We were poor yesterday but long gone are the days when teams don't fight tooth and nail against teams above them.
Not a fan of Hibs but they deserved at least a point yesterday if not more.

Yes fans think playing at Easter Rd should be an easy game after playing away on Thursday JFM.
02 Feb 2026 11:37:34
People need to stop making excuses for strikers that don't score.

Oh for an Ian durrant.
