My star just to be clear my own opinion of what makes an Elite club is multiple continental titles.

So Leverkusen is elite Aphelion, 3 trophies last season 3 trophies around 50/60 years ago, 6 trophies in their history, what makes them elite like? anyway if you think that is an elite club fair play.
Why make another thread and not continue the one i just posted on?

Aphe I think my version of elite depends on the context. so Leverkusen could be considered elite in Germany but not in the whole of Europe. I think that group is small and finite to keep the kudos of being in it.
so say the European super league was to come about there aren't enough truly elite clubs in Europe to form a lead but there are enough clubs considered elite in their country to.
all down to opinion as there isn't really a quantifiable list. good discussion to start though.

Takes more than winning a few trophies to make a club elite
When we say elite we mean the absolute top of the top.
1% of the top 1%
That is elite to me.

Leverkusen is classified as Elite because UEFA classified them as such.
Not my opinion. My opinion is irrelevant when discussing the facts.

Angus they have won the league once in their history and last season, few teams I'd hold in higher regard even in Germany.

UEFA deem them elite, anything else is just personal opinion regardless, pointless bickering as it won't change that the governing body think differently, no matter who says otherwise.

Taking money away from it I always took an elite club as being ones that have been at the top for decades even a century and consistently been in the hunt for trophies with a huge support, Real top of the tree in my opinion, unfortunately the money would need to fall out of football for the big clubs of the so called lower leagues to compete regularly again.

I cinsider Ajax and benfica to be just outside of the elite club list.
Leverkusen are not even ahead of they 2.

Cool Fork so Rangers are the 33nd best team in Europe then, even when we know we are not even close.
Leverkusen will never be any elite club in my honest opinion, but because Uefa has them as elite that changes nothing for me.

It's not about what I think as I have no opinion either way, but Rangers are 33rd only on the coefficient list not the top 16 elite list.

Bhoy once upon a time but think recently they down get there. I dint think Leverkusen have ever been there though.
